maybe i didn't get enough sleep last night, but i was just thinking... since they are using GPS for everything now (from cars to car keys)... would it be a stupid idea to put a chip in the main? the chips are tiny from what i understand and getting less expensive by the day i'm sure. i don't know enough about this to keep rambling, but is it a realistic idea? has anyone had it done? if not on their main--anywhere on their rig? it's probably a horrible idea... i was just thinking it the gps serv could help find cutaways a lot faster AND should it ever get stolen you can atleast get an idea where it is. does anyone know anything about this? i know nothing about the costs... but if they are in keychains, how pricey can it be? i'm guessing it would be about the price of a cypres-- TOPS (if it is that much-forget it!) but considering their services / reciever?? i dunno.. who knows anything about gps? other than the fact that it is use in our planes (i think that technology is more advanced). cheerios! I have 2 in my area and both are about 60 miles away (on opposite sides of houston). So, I'm about an hour away. Tack on 15 minutes if it's a weekday! If the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off!

I came here wondering the same thing! I've been searching for used and everytime the price gets too high - I think, why not buy new so atleast I know what I'm getting (never wet, # of jumps, etc)... and those reselling their gear seem to get a fair amount back whenit comes time to sell. I was also worried about canopy wear... how many jumps until you should replace it? A few of them I was looking at have 1500 or more on it (at most). Also, if buying a rig from someone who base jumps, does their canopy have less left because it's a diff jump? If the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off!
