They are different, carbon production would seem to have a higher rate of recidivism, and if Al Gore is right would lead to far more deaths, therefore offsets are clearly obscene.
-
I wonder who'll be the first to jump from one :-) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/technology/technology.html?in_article_id=447317 The video is cool.

And by the same token, a rich murderer found guilty at trial should be able to buy a life saved off a surgeon or a fireman and use that as an offset for his crime and walk free. Not all offsets make sense.

Can't really disagree with that, especially if we act foolishly and just export our CO2 production to China and elsewhere to our own detriment.

Returned from Iran and allowed to sell story
dorbie replied to shropshire's topic in Speakers Corner
Darius, you've spouting nonsense in spite of the evidence since the start of this episode and you're still at it. The most lamentable part of this is that supporting the shits that run Iran doesn't make nearly as much difference to a Brit as it does to the poor bastards in Iran that have to be ruled by them, but maybe they deserve it, freedom and prosperity requires rational judgement. -
That is a foolish statement, and the rest of your post didn't make much more sense as an argument. Nobody said it was the end, and one old alarmist article does not undo the climate research of a decade or more. Look Al Gore's movie is alarmist bullshit, but that does not mean there isn't a serious problem that scientists have uncovered. There is a significant human contribution to climate change, that's the science. The video explains that when this is modelled it correlates with observations, when it is not modelled it diverges, these are not simple models they're talking about.

The Iranians showed the world yet again that they're tin-pot hostage taking scumbags, that is all. And Britain bloody well better review their procedures after this. -

You're very focused on YOUR embarrassment. If Britain had acted like Iran in this I'd be a darned sight more embarrassed. -
So how long should we wait, "tens-of-thousands of years"? If you are in disagreement with the analysis please point out the factors which the climate models got wrong.

Is the British Military Trained by the French?
dorbie replied to Duckwater's topic in Speakers Corner
They're making money because of an interesting event they were involved in. BUT that's besides the point, you cited the official secrets act to gag them. What exactly is the secret you are trying to protect? Why use any pretext to deny these troops the very freedoms they wear the uniform to defend. How do you know they're aggressive, they were flying the flag of a nation we are not at war and used it to approach with overwhelming force. -

clicky Exceptional my arse.... there are lads in combat... their circumstances are exceptional. This lot are just pawns... talk about diverting the media from the real issues. Why not, that sorry excues for a soldier Lynch sold her story to the media, and she did the exact same thing, failed to do her job. Selling your story to a tabloid in the UK is looked down on, as is making money trough anything except hard labor or winning the National Lottery, (unless you're Richard Branson, he gets a free pass). So naturally EVERYONE has an OPINION on these people making money selling their stories, that's right all the losers who'll be buying the tabloids are up in arms that they'd make money selling their tale to feed their own sorry appetite. Just hillarious. Sit back laugh and let the lads make some money. Maybe it'll keep some of them from claiming benefits or a council house for the rest of their lives and save our grandkids some debt. Really who gives a shit, go worry about something important. -

How many more threads on this same topic do we need? There are at least three now. I prefer the "Is the British Military Trained by the French?" thread, it has a catchy title, can we stick to that one? -
Is the British Military Trained by the French?

What exactly should be kept secret about their capture and imprisonment? Iran already knows more about it than you ever will. What's disgusting is capricious limits on people's freedoms in all guises. As for being captured without a fight, since when is it customary for purportedly non aggressive forces to suddenly capture prisoners with no justification or provocation. Put simply they got the drop on them. If Iran had declared war or forewarned of their aggression events might have unfolded differently, but this was a reprehensible act on a number of levels and like it or not starting a shooting match with a nation under a 'neutral' flag will always be a big deal. Iran committed an act of war without official warning or provocation, you don't have to be ashamed of our troops for not being friking psychic and deciding to start a war themselves. -

Try this link to a different format. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=876_1175800277&o=1 Since your discription is subject to misinterpretation I'll cave, The title is "Insurgent confessing gruesome acts". It is merely video testimony.

Place of nuke test? OK I did some looking around. The location is Okinotorishima http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okinotorishima The 3 circles are islets reinforced by Japan to prevent errosion and sustain their related territorial claims, which China contests to some degree. The rectangular area is a Marine Investigation and Met station on stilts buit by the Japan Marine Science and Technology Center.
-
Place of nuke test? That was my coordinate, it's the crater from Castle Bravo on Bikini Atoll.

Hey, if you're criteria for jumping a rig is someone giving you it for free then you may be renting for a while, and color may be a preferable criteria.
