An instructor watched me land today, I thought, Hey, a stand up landing, COOL. He told me I looked un-balanced in my harness, which caused me to flare early more to the right because of side winds, which made me un-balanced, one leg strap may have come loose in the plane, HOW do you check safley once you have a good canopy? I never heard of toe taps, for my AFF I was told to adjust spins like this, imagine your at a swimming pool, hold onto the bar that runs along the out-side, hold that position, if right knee drops your body turns to the right, drop the left knee & it go's left, this may sound stupid but stick armbands on your ankles & hold the bar, the perfect box position. Just a thought??? What's the lowest altitude your pilot chute should leave the safe grasp of your little pinkie's for a full canopy @ 2500ft, When I pull my mind is on the canopy first, control checks etc, if it's a bag of shit I'm doing Silver. When I was on consol's I pulled at 4k every time, (someone somewhere is still watching)!! Now I wave at 3k, stall a little & think wow, at that point I seem to be able to see myself from above screaming towards Mother Earth, not too sure of total canopy out alti ( be nice to know though), but by the time I do my checks I'm still high enough to chop, "Skydiving's a source, it'll change your life, swear to God"
