  1. Awww.... he's a cutie. How do the cats like him so far? "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  2. It's your fault, Doug. Shoulda done your 100th out of town. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  3. This is the thread that Chubba referenced... should give you a good idea of the challenges involved. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3174738 "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. 4. Everyone who has posted so far (including you) has it all wrong. These poor girls are ashamed to be seen eating alone. They're worried that they'll be judged by hot men like you ("Why is a beautiful girl like her eating alone? There must be something fundamentally wrong with her for her to eat in public alone.") so they sneak away as quickly as possible, hoping that you don't notice her shame. It has nothing to do with the fact that she has a job she has to get back to, or friends that she's meeting for lunch, or errands she needs to run or anything like that at all. Really, they're just hoping that you'll approach them with your best opening line and an invitation to join you at your table. Next time, give that a try.

    Tatto idea

Under 10 years - he's still a tourist. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  6. Relax, smile, have fun, ask good questions, and listen to your instructors. That's about the only advice you should take from anyone on here while you're still a student. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  7. It's one of the reasons I'm glad of two things ... 1) that I learned static line (even in this day and age) and 2) that I started my jumping career in the northwest where some days you take what altitude you can get and if it's just hop & pops ... you take hop & pops. When I had somewhere around 150 jumps I went up on a day when I knew we were getting just under 2500 ft, because I thought it was important to get out of the plane at that altitude at least once under normal conditions, just to see what that sight picture was really like. I knew that on a subterminal opening I'd be open by my decision altitude. I know that for the old timers 2500 is no big deal, but for my generation of skydivers, it's usually far lower than any exit we ever see till the shit hits the fan. For me, that was a much more realistic "simulated emergency exit" than anything I got in my student training. Too bad most people don't bother with hop & pops once they get licensed. 8. Nah. The weather's terrible, the skydives suck, the beer is warm and there are too many damn Canadians. You should just stay home. 9. They're almost always okay to reuse. Unless the malfunction itself is one that damages the canopy beyond reasonable repair (for example a major tear or tears in the canopy fabric itself) or the canopy lands somewhere that then causes it major damage, you recover your main, reattach it, and jump again once your reserve is repacked. Of course, sometimes mains go missing after cutaways ... "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. 10. karenmeal was the DZ packer at the time and she did that to me when I was a noob ... and I love her for it. I had a much more compliant Spectre 230 at the time (it had 450 jumps on it so it was much more broken in). But I haaaated packing and was slow at it and it frustrated me, and she made me learn, and practice till I got it. And I'm glad she did - it meant I did a lot more packing for myself than I probably would have, and that I know how to do it... I can be lazy now and not pack for a while and I'll still remember how to do it without any trouble. But if I'd gone for even a couple weeks in those early days without packing I would have forgotten everything I learned in my packing class. That early drilling is key till you get it down. Paying a packer should be a choice, not a necessity. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. 11. Making all of your white trash fantasies come true, eh?? You say that like it's a bad thing Mmm... banana puddin. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  12. Now ya tell me. Can't do it ... I just picked up a ticket to Southern Culture on the Skids tomorrow night at the Tractor. Gonna grab an 8 piece box and enjoy some white trash geek rock. 13. Maybe it was the lack of control. As a firefighter, you could (at least theoretically, if conditions hadn't worsened) turn around and leave. In the MRI machine you had to trust someone else to let you out. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. 15. Yeah, it was nice to be at the gym doing something other than going through the motions. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  16. I enjoyed my workout for the first time in a while today. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  17. At least you can kick everyone's ass at Rock Band in the dropzone bar. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

    Guar Gum?

They claim that the labs are independent. So of course the FDA wouldn't mention the product ... because the labs aren't affiliated with the company. Clever, these marketers. If you can prove that the stuff made you sick ... you personally might have a claim but class action might be stretching it a bit. Sounds like this stuff is just an overpriced version of Metamucil. Guar Gum?

Oh, please. That's not the American way. The American way is to look for a quick fix, and when that doesn't work, blame someone else and sue 'em when you get sick! Duh. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  20. You asked it in Bonfire. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  21. Not unexpected at all ... "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  22. Y'know, I don't post in here much, but when I do, at least mine has a better punch line. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  23. Scott's just throwing me some cross-Virginia rival school smack talk. He knows that as a UVA grad I'm fully indoctrinated into the cult of Jefferson (flaws and all). And yes, I think I do have one of those bills somewhere. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  24. And who are you? "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  25. #3 looks like Jefferson to me, and I agree with your ID of all the others. Does seem a rather random collection, though.
