Box score looks more like a preseason game than a WS game. 6 errors, 25 hits, 18 runs? Sheeeeit. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

Anyone seen the Rangers' wheels? They came off a couple innings ago and I think they still can't find them. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

It's fun to see the local boys make good. This article's pretty funny: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304915104575572610165814930.html "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. I got a card from her last week ... it was a typical LisaH card - suspiciously thick and lumpy, so of course I opened it very carefully ... but she tricked me with a balloon instead of confetti. Worst Parachutist Cover Ever!
NWFlyer replied to daytripper419's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If we're talking about November, I haven't seen the cover shot yet. Is it a jump from the Rainbow Boogie? I think he's just abusing the word I had a hunch, which was why my response was on the smartass side. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Is that a requirement in Canada? Not so in the U.S. - you can do RW before you even have your A license as long as you're doing it with coaches/D license holders. I frustrated people who were waiting to pie me for my 500th by dropping my gear off with the packers and taking my jumpsuit off but standing there holding onto the jumpsuit for a long time while engaged in a long conversation (with the person who was the "distract Krisanne" decoy). Finally someone just grabbed the jumpsuit out of my hand and the deed was done. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Didn't do much for me. I found the sessions relaxing but I didn't see any lasting effect (I did 3 or 4 sessions so I gave it a fair shake). First session was $120, subsequent sessions were $70; 80% of that was covered by insurance, though. Worth a try, though. Some people have had really great results with it. Best way i heard on how to track is to pretend that]you are lifting a big beach ball And how do you translate that into body position in a track? The "hug a beach ball" description is often used as a descriptor for how to de-arch to slow down, but I've not ever heard that to describe a good track - curious how you've applied that advice to get a good track... Apologize, make it clear you understand the safety risks of any mistakes you might have made, maybe debrief how to handle it differently next time, then pass out a few beers at the end of the day and move on from it. Mine was similar from a few weeks ago - referencing the lady who stopped at the stop sign while turning around to check on her kids in the back seat - and began moving forward without even turning around. Had I, as a pedestrian, not been aware, she would have run me over even though I had the right of way. Like monkycndo, I think the thing that increased my awareness and defensive skills was driving large vehicles - in my case it was transit buses in college. I both took and taught defensive driving classes in that job. Our safety record as drivers was dependent upon whether an accident was preventable, not whether it was our fault. If we didn't do everything we could to prevent an accident from occurring, even if we were "right" we still got dinged. It fosters a very different attitude towards the road and all the people on it. If only everyone had that attitude... "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. USPA and fiscal responsibility
NWFlyer replied to propacker's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You can ... till you get ratings. I renewed online every year till this year (since I earned a rating last year). I don't have the stats but I would venture to guess the majority of USPA members hold no ratings and can renew online. What would be great is if the renewal reminders came via email instead of snail mail. The members who need rating signatures could print out a PDF form, the members who don't can go straight to the web site to renew. It's relatively easy to take in a jumpsuit that is too big; a lot more difficult to make one bigger that's too small. Buying a jumpsuit to fit the body you have now will help your progression. You can keep it baggy as your "slow suit" and buy another one that fits tighter, or you can have that one taken in when you reach your goal weight. http://www.skyleague.com/pages/news/showArticles.php?story=1999 Doesn't say anything about Andy's plans for the future, but it does confirm the news that's been floating around that Craig & Eliana are off to Dubai. I put it in a ponytail then tuck the ponytail and all other loose hair up in an Under Armour skull cap, then my helmet goes over the top of all that. My hair is not that long (just barely shoulder length) but I've seen people with longer hair do something similar. http://www.underarmour.com/shop/us/en/search/results/pid8000071-Skull-Cap/8000071-100 "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. I was on a commercial flight a couple years ago with a guy who had gotten out of the sport around the same time you did. Somehow we got to talking about skydiving and he talked about wanting to get back into it (and about a year later I ran into him at a boogie, so he did, at least for a while). At any rate, we spent a lot of time chatting about the changes in gear. I had my rig in the overhead bin and another bag in checked luggage. Waiting by the baggage claim I said "Hey, want to see my rig?" I pulled it out and showed him and his reaction was "WOW! It's so SMALL!!!" I jump a 210 main and a 218 canopy. These days, that's considered a freaking boat. What a difference in perspective. Welcome back.

Great Job by 101st Airborne Demo Team
NWFlyer replied to SkydiveJack's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Awww, so when's the cute little troll going to do his first stadium demo with a flag and smoke in front of 100,000 people? "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke -
My first experience was on day 3 or 4 of a 6-day hospital stay following an accident (non-skydiving related). They were looking at my thigh to see if they could determine if my femoral nerve was severed (fortunately it was just compressed and I eventually regained function as the swelling in my leg subsided). By this point, I was on several days of crappy, fitful, oft-interrupted, narcotic-addled "hospital sleep." I got there and promptly dozed off. The jackhammer sounds were oddly soothing. I've had three more since then (one head, one shoulder, one knee) and in all cases I was at a much more normal energy level and found them mildly annoying but tolerable. Why do you say that? Lodi is not a USPA group member dropzone. What type of "support" do you see the entire Board providing? Yes, it's no secret that the Pacific Regional Director considers that his home dropzone (it's in his dz.com profile, so it ain't like he's trying to hide anything), but other than Craig, what other "support" do you see the rest of the board providing? Genuine question - I'm curious why you say this. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

Group member DZs have that functionality available to them, but not individual members. As noted above, pick up the phone and call USPA. I think you'll find they staff there are very helpful.
