  1. Hot Lesbo Action?? I thought a great name for an all girls team would be "Hot G.O.G.A" or Hot Girl on Girl Action. In general - "Come to Manifest" would be an awesome team name. "Dixie Normous' Flying Circus" sounds like fun too. On Perris - Team "Hey it's Rick the Manifester's Birthday today!" For all of you Homestar Runner fans - "Dangeresque 4" would make an awesome team name. Funniest team name that I've actually participated on - Poisoned Squirrels Houston Gas Works
  2. Yeah! And it would be really cool if I finally got one, too! I tried last year but we were only 17 ladies. So hook a sistah up and get in on the Pink Patch dives. I want one of those cute pink bucket hats even though I would look ridiculous in it. C'mon ladies! www.skyfestboogie.com/priceless05.htm
  3. Hi Kim! Get your flame throwing little ass back in the air and then get it down here to SkyFest! We still need a bunch of girls to get this thing flying. I really want this to go because even I don't have a PINK PATCH yet. And I really, really want one! I got my black TeXXas 20 way patch around 8 years ago. Just remember, the first three letters in FUNNEL are FUN!!
  4. Well HI! back at you, Duva! Are you going to be boarding your way to Nationals again this year?
  5. well hell firefly... I'm an AFF instructor so we could do your recurrency on the first jump :^) j/k You were at San Marcos last year when I got my rating. Go make a couple of jumps this weekend and blow some of the dust off. Then come on out to the boogie and fly your ass off!
  6. Ladies - SkyFest 2005 is in just a few weeks and we need women! As part of SkyFest's fund raising efforts, we do 19way TeXXas star formations, with a raffled 20th slot for some lucky guy. All the participants, should the dive be successful, will earn their Pink Patch for their first all female 20way (including the guy). The skydives are pretty fun, like an SCR sort of, and raise a lot of money for the Jerry Scrimsher Skydiver Scholarship Fund. For more info go to www.skyfestboogie.com Blue skies and hope to see you there! kirsten.johnson@flylikeagirl.com

  8. Hey out there! I'm a PUP looking for a POPs or SOS boogie happening soon. I'm working on a pilot for a TV news magazine for the over 40 group in the population. A story on the POPs or SOS would be an awesome place to start. If you have any info, please email at kirsten@kjphouston.com Blue skies!
  9. Is there a POPs boogie anytime soon? What about and SOS boogie? How about any record attempts? I'm working on a video news magazine for the more experienced human beings in the world. POPs and SOS seemed like a great place for a skydiver to start. Please send email response to kirsten@kjphouston.com
  10. OMG! The first pic was oh so wrong... But those critters look like something akin to flying monkeys. Eek!
  11. Okay.... So here's a totally obscure movie, sort of, that I saw just a clip of at the DZ last weekend. Sharon Tate and Tony Curtis do this Mr. Bill kind of thing from a Cessna. I don't even know the name of the flick but it was way stupid, expecially since Curtis falls out of the Cessna, sans rig, Sharon Tate (with a complete rig on) dives out after him, hands him a bellywort reserve in freefall. Curtis, of course, is so freaked out he lets go of it after opening. Then he gloms onto Tate and she deploys holding on to him, as well. Somehow Curtis manages to hang onto thru the opening shock of a Para Commander and they land in a swimming pool. BRILLIANT! I love it when art imitates reality!!! (anyone have a clue what that movie was?)
  12. I would completely agree with everyone who has posted thus far. Putting together a team is one thing, keeping it together is another. Personalities and common goals are the key to this. Some of the best flyers in the country cannot attain their dreams of being on a winning team because they cannot be good team mates themselves. And sometimes you find the greatest group of folks in the world to jump with, your sides ache from laughing so much but you may not attain the goals you want because it's not serious enough. Your first team should be about fun, learning and being humble about your abilities. Finances really play into it. It's really cool to have matching jumpsuits but could the money be better spent buying some tunnel time or a coach? Can you afford 6 jumps a day or 10? Look at the over all goal of jumps, coaching costs, beer and pizza costs, and video guy costs. In addition to the jumps themselves, the video playback is one of the most effective training tools you have. Sometimes, you can find an experienced local coach who is willing to help you out for a few jump tickets or free. It's just a matter of asking the right person. Time considerations are a big one. Once you get together some people who are interested, make sure they can afford the time you all agree to train. For a rookie team 3-4 jumping days a month wouldn't be a bad idea. Keep in mind one thing - 4way is the great humbler. You will become a better skydiver as you train your way thru all the formations over and over again. And you will also learn you can always do something better. 4way can push you as far as you let it physically and mentally. Have fun and keep it real.
  13. How cool would it be to have another of my old teamies at Nationals this year? Let me know if you still haven't found her and I will forward you her email address. Kirsten - the tail from Chikara
