There you go again with your fear of "bans". Restrictions are not bans. And they do work everywhere in the world. Even in America. You already live with restrictions, you just need to increase them. When I see a pedestrian walking along or near the road I am on I always assume they are going to trip and fall right into my path. If it is possible to do so I always move over so that I pass by them at least one body length away. I'm pretty sure an AI car could be programmed to do this too. But that would cause a lane departure. Are programmers smart enough to balance those two risks? After all the times I have moved over, I do not recall ever saving even one life. Yet.

I don't actually watch TV at all. But I look at the CNN website a lot. It's pretty rare lately that the top story is not something about Trump. Big stories can push him from the top for a couple hours once in a while. But not for long. CNN is definitely in the business of going after Trump. They are all over every aspect of his story like they are over plane crashes. It's like a "white Bronco chase" that never ends. It's good for their ratings and they are pumping it for all they can get out of it. As far as FOX goes, I never see it at all. I only hear about what they are doing. NPR and CBC are my mainstays. A lot of right wing people consider them to be anti Trump. But I only see them reporting the news. The facts are what is anti Trump. You have to be willfully blind not to be anti Trump. I'm a pretty heavy coffee drinker. But for some reason I don't suffer, or use different forms of caffeine if I don't get my java. I just get sleepy earlier in the day. I answered caffeine only, but your poll omits alcohol. I still use a small amount of that occasionally. Do you use caffeine at all? If guns are what you need to be happy there will be guns in Heaven. If targets to shot are what you need there will be targets. If those targets need to be living trophies, it will be so. Self driving cars are being tested in AZ, and some parts of CA an NV. Because the weather conditions are close to perfect. They need technicians to clean their delicate sensors at least daily. Even in the land of sunshine. When the sensors get dirty, the machine will get confused and just pull over and stop. This shortcoming is going to be VERY difficult to overcome. And that's why a licensed driver is going to be needed in every one of these machines for a very long time. You are not going to be able to just summon one of these and not worry about driving. The first time it snows, or even rains the roads will be littered with out of service vehicles.

That theory is unproven so far. But it should be achievable. Going on how poorly humans drive. The problems that still need to be solved for AI transportation to be reliable are much larger that most people realize. This technology is not "just around the corner".
