Anyone know anything about these. I know it is a pdf 5-cell but I can't find much more information.

RSL's are a whole other issue. What I'm saying though is that if your rig has an rsl, it is important primarily to cut away cleanly and effectively before the rsl (or you) activates the reserve. Without an rsl it is important for you to find and pull the reserve handle (possibly while unstable), hence the advantage of your left hand already being there. Please note as I have not had any cutaways and only 150 jumps, this is just theoretical waffle.
-
I agree that you generally shouldn't change methods, but it makes sense to me to use 2 hands on red first if you have an rsl and a hand on each if you don't. Incidently I currently have an rsl and will still use one hand on each as I was taught.

Is there somewhere near joburg to jump on a Friday?
ukJump replied to ukJump's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Thanks. I've Jumped at JSC before but they only operate Sat/Sun, same as Wonderboom and Pretoria, in fact it seems to be common practice not to jump during weekdays in all of RSA. I'm hoping to be down for the weekend anyway but it would be good to jump on Friday too as I've nothing else to do! Thanks Pilsfish I'll give it a go! -

Anyone know?? -
*** Teflon spray is OK. It just doesn't seem to (pardon the pun) "stick"around as long as silicone spray, so you have to do it more often. *** Dunnit. Seems to work ok and cables don't seem to have any residue. I'll see how it goes in 30 days!! Thanks for the advice!

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but in the light of recent events, I want to be sure that if/when I need to cutaway, I don't have any problems... Anyone tried Teflon spray?? The type that I have is made by Weldtite and is called TF2.. I don't think we can get the Ace Silicon stuff in the UK!
-
Oh, thats odd, it works on my pc... try it again?
-
in reply to... Costs too much! Not in Empuria (apparently)
-
Ah, There we go (with a little help from hookitt).
-
Sorry, can't get pics to work. Will keep trying.

Okay. Here it is. Considering no wrinkles before (this is the 1st repack). Any comments??
-
After having the mirage mod done. my g4 (that did not have these wrinkles before) is much much worse than tonto's. Is this to do with the packer or the mod?? I am not happy and I am considering getting another reserve repack from another rigger!! Edited to add: The wrinkles are quite severe. Although it doesn't look nice, I guess/hope there are no safety issues (photo to follow!)

If you are in Jo'burg on a weekend day, pop in to Jo'burg Skydiving Club www.jsc.co.za The dz is at 5000' whick makes life interesting We were down there a couple of weeks ago. Great people & great jumping. Phone first to pre-manifest though or you might be waiting around a bit!

All of the advice is good. I've been a pilot for 6 yrs but only been jumping for 1. I find there are 2 main problems with doing both: 1) Having enough time and cash to stay current in both. 2) The problem of whether to get a jumpship rating or not. I can see this ending in getting roped into spending days flying jumpers to altitude when I would rather be jumping. I know very few people in the UK that do both! Any other jumper/pilots got any comments on this?
