I'm having trouble finding the article - would you please link it? I'd appreciate the help. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Link Yahoo News Story "GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Israeli planes attacked three bridges in central Gaza, the military said Wednesday, and Israeli tanks were on the move after the government approved a limited operation — a response to a weekend Palestinian attack in which two soldiers were killed and a third captured." And I've read elsewhere that Eqygt has moved 2500 troops to their border to prevent a mass exodus of Palestinians to Egypt. Haven't been able to confirm that, but it seems interesting...and I'm not sure how to interpret that (remembering the 6 Day War and all that...). Over the last few days, from quite a few different sources, I've been hearing some talk about considering the potential launch from N Korea not as a test, but rather a real threat to the US. Some Senators have spoken of it, and lots of "talking heads" as well as military folk have discussed it as well. Japan is very nervous about this, as well. N. Korea is a dying country, no doubt or question. They have little to lose, and are desperate. I have two thoughts on the potential for threat...one, it's real, and as stated, they haven't anything to lose, so the "test" might accidentally "strike" US soil. And the other, and hopefully more real, thought is that it's a desperate attempt to "blackmail" the US into helping them with...dunno. Money, food, talks, something like that. "All options are on the table" apparently, including negotiations as well as a cruise missle strike to take out the NK missle on the pad. I think that a strike like that would be dangerous at best...but I also think that waiting until it's in the sky is *also* very dangerous. I don't think negotiations will work; we've been trying to talk for a long time...sanctions won't work, because there isn't enough time to feel the effects. Then there is the whole Iran connection, as well. NK has sold/given munitions to Iran, according to several sources...not sure if I trust that or not. But if true, an alliance between NK and Iran is exceedingly unattractive. Is it possible that a proxy strike on the US by Iran via NK could happen? Or is NK vying for attention because Iran is stealing their thunder? So many different possibilities, some more likely than others...and some far more dangerous than others, as well. Any predictions from you all? Any ideas? How should this situation be resolved, in your opinion. Yes, I really am curious as to what you all think...this could be a potentially horrendous situation, and right now, I don't have too much hope it will resolve itself. Chris, Dad's been in the industry for 60ish years; couldn't begin to "name" those I've met over the years, let alone those who I "know"...but I can say with the exception of about 6-8 or so, all were/are very nice, decent, "real" people. I babysat many of their children when I was younger, and they are all pretty cool, as well. Recently, one of the people I babysat for (he was the father, not one of the kids...) won an acadamy award...I am very, very proud of him. And thanks for mentioning Dad...I'm talking to someone about getting a website up for him; he doesn't have (or want) a computer, but is willing to have a webbie made for him "as long as (he) doesn't have to do anything." LOL! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~ -
It is going to get ugly, and fast. I will hold out hope until the last moment, but I don't see that doing any good. Sigh. Makes me hurt for everyone...and although I agree with the Israelis, I have sympathy for those Palestinians who just want to live their lives in peace. Their leadership is to blame for this entire thing, not them. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Dilla is getting sooooo big, and Hannah is growing into a gorgeous young lady. Hugs to all of them...and bring them with you sometime out to my neck o' the woods...the kids, not the kittens; I have enough of them, thanks... Bill, can you source your statement? I haven't been able to find it succinctly put, in a side by side comparison. Thanks Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Bodies of G.I.'s Show Signs of Torture, Iraqi General Says
Michele replied to StreetScooby's topic in Speakers Corner
Andy, just wondering what made you think of the possibility that these two soldiers laid down their arms or otherwise didn't fight for survival? And telling me that some friends of yours in service isn't what I mean...why do *you* think this, and what is *your* basis for doing so? Tigra's correct - it tends to happen in cats of all sizes, from housecats to tigers and lions. It's hard, and it's sad, but it's what happens. Propagation of his offspring is very important to a male (the call of nature), and he will do whatever he can to see that his seed is planted. Which means, sometimes, killing the kittens of a different male so that the queen will come into heat and then he has a chance to impregnate her himself. It's something which happens in cats of all sizes, and one of the reasons males are separated from females once a birth has taken place in a cattery, and in some homes. Yes, other animals could've done it. It's nearly impossible to tell what did it, though, and so Gene is doing what he can to protect the other babies (and for that, I say "hooooo-rah!". He's a softie, even though he'd rather not think he is.). He's operating on the information he has, and it seems fairly clear that he is likely correct. Sucks, but it is what it is. Feral predator toms are really, really hard to handle, and nearly impossible to protect against. They can be vicious, and also because of their fighting, often carry illnesses which are transmittable by blood and can really hurt other cats, livestock, and people. As much as I hate the idea of a cat being hunted and put down, if one has already done this sort of killing, it won't stop, and there really isn't much you can do except take care of business. One thing to really, really understand is that this isn't about hunting a housecat, or a pet. These guys are dangerous, especially around a dwelling and/or a farm. These guys don't come cuddle with you, and let you pet them...these guys are wild, feral, and doing what comes naturally to them which places other animals and curious kids in some danger. Sorry to hear you've got some kitty issues on your hands...and I know how attached the kids must've become. And yes, it's bad...but it's also reality. Even I wouldn't try to rehab these two...and you know me; I'd take in a tiger if I thought I could help. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Lindercles, that is a hysterically funny photo. Dunno if it's shopped or not, but it made me laugh out loud. Thanks. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Not sure if you're asking for some understanding and help, or just posting. If you have a question or two, don't hesitate to ask me. I'll do my best to answer. I've dealt with territorial kitties before, and redirection can be done; it takes some patience, but it can be done. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

U.S. Weighs Shootdown of N. Korea Missile
Michele replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm not terribly conversant in missle testing technologies, but was wondering; is there an actual concern that this test would hit the US, either in Alaska or the west coast? How close should we let it come? 100 miles? 500? What is a decent middle ground between testing the missle (even though it's breaking a moratorium), and allowing it to create a danger to those in the US? Anyone have any idea how this typically works? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~ -

I had all my vaccinations/innoculations back when I was a kid - late 60s-early 70s. We weren't allowed in school if we didn't have them, iirc, and so me and my brother got them. There were no ill effects from them whatsoever; both my brother and I were just fine. His kids are all going through the vaccinations, as well; they are 6, 5, and 2 years old, and it's that time. So, they do it and there's been no issues at all. I had chicken pox at 28. Nearly died. There was no vaccination for that when I was a child, and despite being exposed many, many times to it as a child/teen, I didn't get them until accidental contact with someone when I was older. As an older person, it can be very bad, and lots of complications are normal when you get it outside of the growing-up years. Sure there is a risk of adverse reaction. But it's miniscule, and imho not worth worrying too much over. The adverse reactions to catching polio, chicken pox, et all is far greater than is the risk of getting the vaccination. I'd vaccinate my kids if I had any... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

In 10 minutes, I take Dad out for Father's Day. I haven't any tangible gift to give him. I haven't any cherished momento to gild and present. What I have is my time. And that's what I'll give. In the giving of that, though, I find that I am the recipient. Spending time with the man who is my father is the most precious thing I know; I could wax long about what he has taught me, how I've learned from him. What I will say is my Father taught me to be fully me, as he is fully him. And for the gift of my life and my world, I thank him. Crap! How do you treat a burn on your face without leaving a scar?
Michele replied to mmytacism's topic in The Bonfire
Everything Goose said. EVERYTHING. Including the visualization. Stop poking it, stop looking at it, stop worrying about it. Aloe and Vit E is what my Dr. told me to use after surgery on my eye socket; now, you can't see the scar unless I point it out to you. So do what Goose said. Also, please refrain from pouring boiling water on your face. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~ -

You've got my "vibes", prayers, hugs, wishes for luck, and all the support I can muster. Hang in there, do what you know you can do (you jump from planes, so this will be a breeze), and be proud of who, and what, you are. There's not too many folks I know who can take life by the throat and shake it up, but you are indeed one of them. So shake it up, Lurch...shake it up. Best to you- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Three detainees at Guantanamo Bay apparently committed suicide
Michele replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
My error. Narcimund, you're the one who brought that into the conversation...you used the quote as a function to make that link stand alone? Despite several searches, and perhaps I'm blind...but I couldn't find where WSD made that comment in the original context. Can you clear this up for me? Thanks. Michele replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
Aren't you the one who quoted them a few posts back? I may need to double check...but I could've sworn you had. Ah. I understand the error. Narcimund said, as a response to someone else (WSD): So I see how it could've been mistaken for you saying it. After all, you are using it to anchor a perjorative sentence about republican apologists. I get it now! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
