  1. That's all I've ever said/intimated...so I guess that means you're defending him, too. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  2. I did? If so, I miswrote...inasmuch as wondering if, in reality, there was a crime committed. I never said it was palatable, or desireable, nor something I would want my child exposed to...but I wondered if there was a crime. Because if sending salacious pms and emails to someone is indeed a crime, then I'm a criminal too.... To me, that's not defending. Rather, that's curious as to if there's a crime that has been committed. Said nothing about what I think of Foley (as far as I can recall; certainly not anything "positive"), but rather simply questioned if there was an actual crime that occurred. So if asking if a crime was actually committed is defending someone, then there are lots of people all over the place who are "defending" Foley...and defending criminals of all ilk and manner from coast to coast. 3. So...a mini bio paper is due tomorrow, and I've been researching it. It's on RNA, and the transcription/translation of it from DNA to protein synthesis. The paper is supposed to be 2 pages long, and we are also supposed to include hand drawn diagrams. I asked if there would be points off because I can't draw, and she told me no. I mean, I'm no art major. LOL! Anyway, I've found some good sites to research with, as well as my book (which is not very clear about this, sadly...), but I'm trying to find some additional sites with basic, easily understood () info on it (think 6th grade), as well as some decent diagrams. Does anyone of our resident scientists have any sources that they could link over? I'd love the help...I need full points on this to maintain my A, and it's low as it is. So this paper means the difference starting midterm between an A and a B. And I'm NOT asking you all to do my homework for me, just if anyone has any sites that are good and thorough and have decent diagrams (not 500 nucleotides long, for example), and one which explains the promoter, the stop, and the start sequences so that I can understand it more easily. Thanks in advance! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  4. Better that than no scratch paper, or empty scratch paper... You've made it through, you know? And now, you can take a few days' break and breathe...which is more than I can say for my life. I've got a bio paper due tomorrow, and a giant exam next Tuesday morning in Anatomy; I'm exhausted, behind in homework and housework (i.e. the laundry is piled up, the dishes unwashed, and generally the house is in great disarray...). I did get my score for Poli Sci - an A, one of only two in the entire class (15 people failed...). So...I don't get a break until two weeks out, at the earliest. 'Til then, it's study, study, study and try to get around to getting laundry done. It's really bad when you have to plan out the time you can make it to the market, and can only spend a certain time there...LOLOL! SIgh... Anyway, well done, LisaMarie. You made it through, and that's a win in and of itself. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  5. LisaM, it wasn't the 'nip that nailed your baby; it was something else...probably just the kitten krazies. Nip is effective on about 70% of cats, but is not effective on 100% of cats until they've reached sexual maturity. It triggers with a gene that is in about 70% of cats, but that gene does not get activated until certain other hormonal changes get made, indicating sexual maturity. Perfect case was Simon. Could just not understand why the other cats loved the nip. He'd sit there, watching them, wondering what and why...and then, at just about 9 months, I gave the cats their usual weekly high. Blammo, he got crazy; very aggressive in getting his nip, and absolutely bonkers while on it. And it's hysterical to watch...But it only happened after he reached sexual maturity, and because he had the gene. Matt, purring is indicative of a content, relaxed kitty. Bear in mind, though, that purring is not the only way contentedness and relatation is shown, and also be aware that not all cats purr. If Shadow isn't purring, it's not because she doesn't like you or isn't content or relaxed...she just isn't purring. So don't worry if Shadow isn't - my Charlotte doesn't purr too much at all, and she's a happy regal feline to be sure. And Lisa, the kitten krazies are an amazing and wonderful time; they are learning, exploring, playing, bonding. Don't push her away when she is trying to play with you. Instead, find another way to play; with a chase mouse, or with some interactive toy. Her hind leg thing is generally called "rabbit kicking", because they use their hind legs like rabbits use theirs. It's a vital skill to develop; it allows a cat to disembowel their prey, killing them and letting them eat. It's also a muscle development thing...she needs her hind legs to be able to jump and run. So let her do it, and don't think it's unusual. It's weird, but it's understandable...and it's completely natural. It will tone down over time, but like a 2 year old child runs awkwardly, your baby will play awkwardly for a while...until she grows a little, and gets more coordinated and sure of herself. Til then, don't buy new furniture, get her a claw post (preferably with a dangly toy she can play with), and realize that her behavior is natural and nothing to freak about. 6. LisaMarie, you'll do well. Know that you know...and use those tips and tricks I pm'd you. I have all the confidence that you can pull this off; if I can, than so can you! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  7. What an expensive lens that is, too. Although, I've got to say, when I'm involved in shooting something, and I'm on my long lens (not nearly as good as his, though), I can loose track of things easily...especially if I'm tracking a subject and waiting for the light to be just right, or the angle to be perfect, or the animal to do something. I've even stepped on people, fallen off curbs, and nearly got hit by a car when working with my long lens. It can absorb you...and if you're intent things around you can get past you very fast...like target fixation, I guess...you forget where you are in your concentration of doing it. Which is why, when I decide it's time for me to go street shooting, I will bring someone with me so I have a second pair of eyes watching my happy ass while I'm lost behind the lens. Hopefully, that will keep me from getting into serious trouble. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  8. No...but upon re-reading the sentence I wrote one certainly could get that idea from it, you know? ROFL...sorry about that. I was referencing Micro's statement, albeit poorly and while mRNA, rRNA and tRNA is running through my brain for the paper due on Thursday... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  9. Well, let's say I didn't die, but I'm not in heaven, either. It was only a 9 problem exam...and I know I blew an entire problem; I could feel my brain just stop thinking, stop making sense. And the numbers appeared to be in cuneiform, a language I don't speak or read. Sigh... But I also know I got all of the bonus questions - 8 points there. They were easy (for me) factoring and graphing, so that will help me enormously. I think I passed, and may have gotten a B. But any more than that is my professor being generous. I will say the last two quizzes were returned tonight, and out of the whole class, only 5 of us got all available points - 20 in all. So I got the 20, and that gave me a bit of a boost starting the exam. LM, I pm'd you some of my tricks, and maybe they will help you. I know they help calm my poor little math deficient head, so perhaps they will come in handy for you. And I've got to add, my professor is a really, really wonderful teacher and lady. She is so encouraging and so understanding...she lets me re-write the test onto the same lined paper I do my homework on so I don't have this big "EXAM" blaring at me with typed numbers and stuff scaring me. As long as I turn it in with my exam paper, she allows me to do this. Somehow, it helps my head to remember the homework problems when I do it that way...but if I'm faced with stark white paper my brain explodes. My prof is really, really cool. Any lack of understanding the subject matter is not her fault whatsoever; it's just my poor, old, tired, blown brain... Michael, I think I'll like stats more, too...and primarily because it does deal with real world immediate application stuff, like drugs, profit and loss, et cetera. I've always had a hard time understanding the abstract concepts; if one can show me how it applies, it sticks like glue...which is why word problems aren't too bad for me. I can visualize what I'm trying to get to, and understand why it's important to find the length of board A...you know? Anyway, it's about 10 days til my next math test...and I've got a huge Anatomy exam next week, as well as a paper to write for Bio this week...so while there's no math right now, I've got plenty else to study for... Good luck tomorrow, LisaMarie. You'll be fine...and remember, you only have to pass. You don't have to be perfect, just pass. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  10. I have an exam tonight in my algebra class...I am not going to read any more of this thread before I go cross-eyed.... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  11. and Wow. I don't read the BASE forum much, so wasn't aware. I did hear about the stripper in the hospital, though (apparently that's somewhat legendary, LOL!!). Glad to hear you're back in the sky - and have made such a good recovery. Well done; that takes a lot of hard work and determination. Welcome home. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  12. That made my eyes hurt... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  13. Wow, sorry to hear you got injured. Sorry about that. Just wondering if you'd care to share how it happened? (You have so many different things listed in your profile I haven't a clue...). Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  14. THanks for the clarification. They now are reporting that it is a 4.2 tremor rather than a 3.6. Not surprising that they upgraded - preliminary seismic data almost always does get revised. How big was the bomb, does anyone know? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  15. Thanks, Sundevil...I know what underground means, and am aware of the Nevada testing. Just not sure what the no leaks part means. How would they know? And how would we know if they were telling the truth? My bad, I wrote a terribly constructed sentence there...sorry. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  16. Gesus, girl, remove your phone number. MODS - can you protect her from herself? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  17. And the US has just confirmed that a nuclear test indeed took place...still from an unnamed source, but an administration official is what they are sourcing. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  18. Apparently, the Chinese were given a 20 minute warning, and the seismic tremor is at the time of the warning. The NK have said that there was no nuclear radiation leak. I am not at all sure what that really means, but apparently, they've tested it, it worked, and it's been contained. Lots of confusion, and it's going to be a while before we get 100% confirmation. ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  19. no independent confirmation yet, not even with the USGS who monitors earthmovements and can see a nuclear signature (or so I've been told...not sure how they'd tell, but that's all right... Also, a new secretary general (from SOuth Korea, if I'm understanding things correctly) will be elected tomorrow...or today, on that side of the globe. Co-incidence? I think not. I wonder what China will/can do? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  20. FOX news reporting now that North Korea has tested it's first nuclear bomb, but cautioning that these reports are unconfirmed as of now. Apparently, South Korea is calling an emergency meeting for security, and this is a very fluid situation now. AP is also reporting this, and Japan is getting some sort of meeting together, as well. It's the 9th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's take over, too. It will get interesting if true... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  21. There are worlds of beauty awe and clarity of mind everywhere, even in places where it doesn't really matter if you understand quadratic equations. Now, not to send out a personal attack, but you seem to be missing Lisamarie's point; she has difficulty in math. You're not helping her, and you're instead hurting her. I don't know if you mean to, but I think, if you do, you should take a long look in the mirror and reconsider your communication style. And frankly, I don't understand quadratic equations and can still admire the world in it's awe and breathtaking beauty... g'head, tell me that a 14 year old is smarter than me...and then let them work an intervention with a suicidal lady, or a girl with a razor to their wrist in algebra class. See if they can handle it, and come away with an understanding of the beauty and awe and wonder that is here right before everyone's eyes. There are worlds and worlds other than quadratic equations. People understand different things. And people can appreciate the gloriousness of this amazing planet when they are 3...and have no idea that quadratic equations exist. LM, I can't help you. I can tell you that I am in a similar boat, and am working harder in my math class than in any class I've ever taken in my life. It's hard for me...but it's got to get done. So you and I will buck up and get it done, and know that whatever grade we get has been hard won, and came with more sweat and effort than some of our As. And we'll both be proud that we undertook a challenge and came through it. And once we're at our goal, we never have to look at another damned math book in our lives!!!!! (That's what keeps me focussed...that if I don't get it now, I will have to do all this over again. And I really, really don't want to do this again...). Good luck, know that this is conquerable, and that you can win out over it. And you're not stupid; there are some minds (here and in Europe) who do not get mathmatics easily. But then again, there are minds who don't understand the things you are good at, and the things I am good at...and that's the balance of the universe. 22. Were they over the age of consent? That's the bit in question, imho... And frankly, Foley resigned because it was better for his party overall, not because he is an alcoholic, or a pedophile, or gay. If that were the case, he'd've resigned a long time ago. He should've been gone a long time ago... BTW, the point about the page being over 21 having been left out is a huge deal...and one which speaks to either a conscious intent to grab viewers and let them believe one thing, or a subconsious attempt to grab viewers and let them believe one thing, whether or not it's the truth. It's a pretty important fact to have left out, when the only reason the pages being talked about is Foley's impropriety with them, and the debate about if they were old enough or not to have had him hit on them. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  23. I was paying attention; I just had no clue how close the circus was to real life. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  24. Per this morning's news, a handful of North Korean soldiers crossed the dmz and started firing on south Korean soldiers. I don't know if this is common (I've heard such incursions are somewhat frequent) or not, but I do know it's provocative... This weekend might get interesting... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  25. So the other reason is that I'm out of date on my reserve, uncurrent, and don't have the cash to get current and stay current right now. So there. Really, though, Jeff...I wish I could. Especially because I came down last weekend and hung out at the DZ...made me jones for a jump. Got a great shot of you and your "future wife", though...will process sometime in the next 6 months and send it over . Hugs to you...
