  1. Not nearly as curious/interesting as knowing that he looks for that sort of stuff...tells me far more about him than perhaps he'd realized. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

    Poor Kitty!

Good lord, no. He was about 3 months old when this happened, and man, was it a tussle. But I didn't blow him out the end of the vent...figured that would kill him (all the lint flying around in there was a concern, even not turning it on...iirc, I had to give him a bath, so I missed the meeting at work. Wah.). Sunny, definitely send the vet and the staff the thank you card. It's important that everyone be acknowledged, you know? i'm so glad she's feeling better; she'll be back to her old self in no time. Poor Kitty!

My feline first aid kit is identical to my human first aid kit, except no CPR mask; and first aid for fuzzbutts is similar to that in humans. Neosporin is fine in VERY small doses - if it's a freely bleeding scratch, let it bleed; once it's stopped, gently daub a very very small bit of neosporin on it. If it's long, on her eye (not near or above, but on the lid or the sclera) or paw pad, or doesn't stop bleeding, take her to the vet. Watch out for infection, but very rarely do they get infected from a scratch. We can from their scratches, but they don't usually get too badly infected from their own misadventures. However, if it does get that way, take her in ASAP...infections in animals can kill them very quickly. Wound wash or any other children's scratch care item (like bactine) is fine for kitties, as long as you remember to use it VERY sparingly. Also realize that various scars and wounds come with kittenhood - it's part of the process, and it's all right. She'll survive herself and her clumsiness. Simon once crawled up the dryer vent, and I had to take it apart and shake it before I could get him out. He was none the worse for wear, although he smelled like a dryer sheet for a long time. ROFL... (*Sunny One, how's Peanut doing?) Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  4. Excellent! Jeanne, I understand your thoughts...which is why, of course, this thread was written. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  5. Amber apparently married my husband. Sigh.... Bigway, there are many reasons your application would be denied, so don't worry about it. I'm sure there are girls out there for you. I'd have to do you like I did Boz - excluded on the grounds of previous, on-going commitment obligations - but still.... 6. Do you need training? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  7. Wendy and Jarrod - thanks for the comments...
  8. 'Course you can wash my car. I'll bet you could even handle watering the houseplants, too! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  9. Nah, that's where the good job comes in. LOL! There, fixed it for ya. Actually, that might be just what I need - three men. (Great to see you back posting, Mike. Really is.) Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  10. There is one somewhere on here that's a self portrait...I think I put it up in the spring sometime. If you can't find it, you're not looking hard enough. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  11. No, I come the normal way. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  12. Yep...but the perfect man wouldn't be grossed out. So...well...there you have it. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  13. Beards are fine, and a truck in addition to a car is acceptable... (Psssst...Boz, you're married. That lets you out of the running immediately...but see above)... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  14. Yesterday, I was accused of being a CISSIL, i.e, a classy, independent, self-sufficient, intelligent lady. That is like receiving a social death sentence (but would explain why I am single...). It's like a guy telling a woman - "you have a great personality," or a woman telling a guy "I LOVE having you as a friend." Makes one a lonely lady. It sucks. It puts me at risk of having my girly card taken away. So, with that in mind - I want a man I can depend on. One who will be there when he says he will. Who has a good job and an expensive car (no trucks). He has to have all his teeth and hair - and if he has hair in strange places that grows too fast, he has to be willing to trim that (uncontrolled nose and ear hair is an immediate rejection to his application). One who will cuddle me in bed, and bring me hot tea when I don't feel well. He's got to be one of the few men left who understands that a great lady isn't someone to be conquered, but rather enjoyed. He's got to understand that when he puts on weight or doesn't shave, I will tell him that; and he's got to accept it. He's got to be the sort of guy who can handle a strong woman with well thought out opinions, rather than just telling her to "shut up. That's dumb." He's gotta do some of the cooking and cleaning and bring me and my girlfriends wine and canapes so we won't miss a second of Oprah. And he has to leave the house so we girls can giggle in private - about his privates. He needs to also realize that his responsibilities include (but are not limited to)cheering me and my girlfriends on during shopping tournements and study sessions (that wine and canapes don't just happen to be exclusive to Oprah watching), and understand that it is important for me to spend time at the salon. He has to pay the charge card bills, too. Especially the one with no limit. It's a lot of work, but not without its rewards. The right man in my life will have the privileges of: * Having sex with me anytime I want (and in the way I want - tied up and spanked or cuddled and loved gently...and everything in between...). And he has to know what time is right for both - without me telling him. * Packing my rig between jumps, maintain my sports car, and water the houseplants. * Listen to all the details of my day (far more interesting than his!) * Shave my.... * Clean and cook some of my meals, so I don't have to break away from shopping, Oprah watching, or studying. * Bathe my cats and take them to the vet; give them pills when needed, and let them climb all over him while he's wearing a suit. * Pop the zits and blackheads on my back that I can't reach. *Take out the trash, clean the fridge, and handle the litter box. The list goes on. Really, it's a great deal for the right man! Applications are currently being accepted. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  15. Is it really that time of year again? I like it, but it's reminding me of how fast this year as flown by....wow. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  16. Me too...therein lies, for me, the crux of the issue. Should one create a conceptus/embryo simply for the purpose of getting those few cells which can produce any other cell in the human body? Or is that something which should be taboo? The topic again came up in Bio last night; my professor, a research Dr.'s specialty is the whole realm of societal embryology...there's a fancy word for it, but I forgot it, sorry...she deals with preterm delivery research, implantation failure research, and - yes - stem cell research. Even she is not sure about the ethics - only that cloning a person is definitively wrong. But, as she says, that's the end result, not the beginning. And so that's the issue at play; those cells which can do anything in the human body only exist for a very short time - and can't be naturally produced (i.e. in the uterus of a female). So do we produce those cells? Or do we learn more about why a salamander can regenerate itself, and use the adult stem cells (which show promise and have produced results) and the few stem cells found in the umbilical cords from birth? Not that I know much about the field, but it's an intriguing topic and fun/frustrating to wrestle with, both morally and societally. And I still don't know where I stand on it...I vacillate on a regular basis. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  17. Glad to hear you made it home safe, and that angels do exist. I know they do, but it's nice to see other people experience that, too. But now I can't get the song out of my head... "Oh what a night! Sweet December, back in '63, What a very special time for me, 'Cause I remember what a night." Great song, at least, to get stuck in my head... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  18. Thanks for that, Mike. Well, my landlord isn't going to do anything...which is about what I figured. So I'll have to come up with a plan on my own. So I'm going to look into the window locks shortly (my first free day is next Monday...), and maybe talking to some of the people at Lowes will give me some idea. I'm also thinking about planting bouganvilla outside my bathroom window, or maybe a climbing rose. As for the PD, they didn't even come out. I called them on the non-emergency line, 'cause that's what this was - a non-emergency. Since no life, limb or property was being definitively threatened, I was told I could come in and make a report, but they won't send someone out because of this. Now, had I found a broken pane in the window, or had I found a broken/picked lock, it would be a different story; but since I didn't, all they will do is take a walk-in report (i.e. make a note of it in the community concerns log). That will be all right, because I have some time tomorrow, and I understand their position. And yes, I've got photos, and will bring them in, as well. Tonight, walking in from the garage, I was watchful. There was nothing amiss, even the tomato stake that I placed under the window hadn't moved. So I don't think anyone was lurking tonight - as far as I can tell. For the several folks who pm'd me wondering why I just don't move, it's simply because a) I can't afford to, and b) even if I could afford to, I am all of 5 minutes away from my father, and I won't move far from him at all. So my situation is somewhat limited. However, I will be careful, and I will take some measures of safety - both walking to and from the car as well as when I'm home...and to be honest, in the light of day, I wonder if I'm just not being paranoid...but then I think about it, and realize I'm not. My community is safe, but there is no place free from crime, and my unit is easily break-into-able. I'll also do some things to my place to make it safer and more secure, both while I'm home and while I'm away. Thanks for all the advice - both in PMs and here. It's nice to know you all care, and that while some of you have had similar occurances, you've made it through. Thanks for sharing your own experiences, and for helping me. 19. Sorry, Jakee, I must not have been clear. Once fertilizatin occurs, the potential is there for a life. Until that occurs, there is no potential. Comparing sperm and ova as individual "groups of cells" to a zygote isn't a good comparison; whereas one does indeed have a chance at becoming human, the other does not unless it is paired with another cell grouping which has the necessary chromosomes to complete it. Does that make my comment more clear? Just for clarification...as for masturbation, as a woman I don't "waste anything" according to any leanings. I also don't think masturbation by a guy "wastes" anything. But the apples to oranges comparison you made isn't a good one...huge difference. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  20. No, actually they don't. A sperm or ovum has only 1/2 of the chromosomes needed to produce a person, so no, without the balance of chromosomes (i.e the joining of the two gametes) there is no potential. Once fertilization occurs, there is the potential for a person. 'Til then, it's just a clump of DNA - only half of what's needed. I understand your position, though. If there is no God, then there is no soul. If there is no soul, then why concern oneself with it in an ethical/moral sense? I don't agree, but I understand. 22. So, you don't believe there are any moral or ethical issues with pluripotent stem cell research? If not, why not, and if so, why? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  23. In every joke there is a kernel of truth...it would, indeed, scare them away! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  24. Wow. That's something I am terrified of...fire. I can't even imagine the horror and fear they've experienced, especially on the heels of the loss you/they have had. Sending prayers and vibes your way. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  25. I'm not too worried about being placated...I know that unless they catch someone doing it, it's only going to be a report with no (or little) follow-up. For me, it's more of a record making step, along with the photos and log. That will create the beginning of a paper trail should something happen. Yes, that's my thought. IF, of course, is the operative word...I'm not positive, like you were. I don't hear footsteps, and it's been quite some time since I noticed the footprints. Most of the noises I hear at night I attribute either to neighbors (while I live in a duplex, there are only apartment buildings around me; very dense population) or to critters such as racoons and opossums (both which make regular appearances and nests under my place and in my walls...). And no, cats are not protective - they scatter very quickly when danger appears. Which is, btw, one of the indicators something is amiss...if your kitty is acting strangely, sometimes it means that a bad guy is around. Come to think of it, all my herd likes to sleep under my dining table...and weren't there last night. ANd they were really restless last night, too...again, pretty unusual for them. However, they are all mellow and sleeping under the table right now (well, 4 of the 6, at least...). I'm sorry you had that experience, K...I hope you never have to choose to get the gun out. I am taking this seriously, folks. I am not one to worry like this, but I am taking this seriously. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
