Dear Sir, It is task for any Person who will call himself/herself "Instructor" to provide a safe action for his/her student. Above all, a Human Life is more valuable than a piece of Nylon, whatever it been finely made. An Instructor´s arrival on his/her Student landing spot imposes a Comradeship, and Safety feeling that is paid by no other thing. Moreover if, unfortunately, He/She is injured. Nothing is worser for a novice that thinking: "I am expendable, I am on my own". Please, remember that All of us, seasoned Skydivers, have to, and should to, promote safety above all. ¡Hola Adolfo!

Espero haberte ayudado. Dear Sir, Putting aside all the Technical procedures needed to confirm if this particular canopy is airworthy, You can read the label using this methods: 1- Using a Night vision device, and taking a picture from the label. 2- If You have an IR thermal device, You can do the same procedure. 3- You may try to make a picture with a still camera with Zero lumen, if you have no access to these equipment. 4- Perhaps the better choice for civilian personnel. Use a UV light (Black Light), employed to determine if a currency billet is false or not. Due ink´s reflective properties, You will be able to read properly the "Lost Data". Jumped a D-6 Russian paratrooper rig with a drogue
aliencico replied to pchapman's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Dear Sir, You can request an English version of the D-6 Serie 4 Parachute to Polyot (www.ivparachutes.ru), which is the Company that makes it, and because the Indian Army Parachute Regiments uses that type, and they speak English, not Russian. For obtain additional information, You may visit www.desantura.ru, a very good Russian (Soviet) parachute website. Juan Fraile-Nuez Military Parachute Rigger (ret.) Spain, Europe -
A Parachute Rigger is not a job, but a vocation. You must give your 110% on each packing, repair, or explanation to a jumper who has asked you, because this particular Person´s life relies on your proper job. Other persons´s lifes are a great responsability, and the best payment is that a jumper who had a malfunction, and activated his/her reserve, packed by You, is still alive. Any amount of money can make disappear the responsability of a death caused by a negligent job. Make your best, always make time to learn, and give proper, and safe education... ...Others depends of You! Juan Fraile-Nuez Military Parachute Rigger (ret.) Spain, Europe

Dear Madam, If you are going to PIA Symposium, try the new d3o material which is included in some Cookie helmets. It is a British patent for a non-newtonian fluid which can absorb a trauma dissipating it on the whole d3o surface. You can visit the British website at www.d3o.com and have a look. New Packing Weights ~ Alternate filler material?
aliencico replied to Unstable's topic in Gear and Rigging
Dear Sir, Due environmental restrictions, and "green" policies, all the lead shot is "almost" forbidden. In Europe we use stainless steel ball bearings. Choose the proper size, and fill your packing weights. You will find easily at any industrial hardware store. If You have difficult to obtain them, you can try lead shot, with the new "environment friendly" jacket (Covered with Copper, or Zinc), or may ask for Stainless Steel shot at your gun store. Try at www.cabelas.com (USA based) Hoping to have helped you, Juan Fraile Military Parachute Rigger (ret.) Barcelona, Spain, February, 17th, 2011 Juan Fraile-Nuez Military Parachute Rigger (ret.) Dear Mr. Mark Lancaster, I must to express my gratitude for your explanation about Safire1´Service Bulletin. I miss the Crossfire1 SB#20010914 & #20011004, and my old mind changed by Safire´s instead. As I miss, again that the Safire2 is been manufactured, both, in New Zealand, and Europe, being the Neos canopy the one that is solely build in Europe. Thanking your promt answer, and education provided, Blue Skies, and safe Skidives, Juan Fraile Nuez Military Parachute Rigger Spain, Europe Juan Fraile-Nuez Military Parachute Rigger (ret.) Dear Sir, I am going to try to explain the difference between Safire 1, and Safire 2 models. Safire 1 was primaryly designed for intermediate to advance jumpers, with a all round performance. In Spain, CIMSA´s Main designer, Mr Paco Zapirain, tuned Safire 1 in order to resolve some issued problems that resulted in a Safety Bulletin. After a major redesign Spanish design evolved to Safire2, made exclusively in the Spanish Factory. Safire2 has better glide performance, improved toggle control, softer, and deeper. It is more resistant to inner collapse due turbulences, and has a better overall performance. Rules for downsizing a canopy are not a dogma, but, please use your good judgement, inform yourself about your D/Z hazzards, winds, obstacles, etc, for determine the proper canopy choice, for Your Person, and your environment. Dear Sir, Please, feel confident about your canopy "made in Spain". Unfortunately, Persons try to impose their point of view. It is normal for an Anglo-saxon person to underestimate other nations skills, as is normal for a latin, germanic or nordic person to do the same with other cultures. It is human. I must to report to Your Person that Icarus Spain has a very high manufacturing quality, due it is part of CIMSA (Formerly known as Sampere de Paracaidas), making parachutes and decelerators since 1947. The manufacturing process is all under ISO 9001, and ISO 9002, the employees have a 20 years average working experience, well paid. The machinery is state of the art, laser-cutting included, nad there are a minimum of 3 quality checks before your canopy is sent to You. You can have a look, via: www.cimsa.com Hoping I have expanded your horizon Blue Skies, and safe Skydives Juan Fraile Nuez Military Parachute Rigger Spain, Europe Juan Fraile-Nuez Military Parachute Rigger (ret.) Dear Pat Works, With all my due respect, I must inform you that you are wrong. please, let me explain You: In 1936, after the death of 2 famous soviet parachutists, the USSR Government issued a prize for an Automatic Opener for Parachutes. The Commission reviewed more than 300 inventions, winning Brother´s Doronin device. It was called PPD-1, and entered in service with the VDV (Soviet Parachute Forces) in 1938. During the Second World War the Doronin put in service a lot of devices relating Parachute openers, cargo devices, and a large etcetera. The PPD-1 had problems with the straight arming pin, so the designers replaced it for a flexible one in PPD-2. In 1948 a very good engineer called Leonid Savichev designed the PAS-1, introducing, for the first time, an Aneroid Capsule system. Thank to this feature, the jumper could jump out of an airplane without became worried about the pilot was flying at the correct altitude... Higher or lower, The device would activate at the predetermined Pressure. In 1949 the USSR Government, afraid of 2 great designers competency, ordered Savichev join Doronin´s factory, now called 2MPZ (www.2mpz.ru), and issued a new requeriment for automatic openers in order to replace all the others. From these orders were designed the following devices: PPD-10, the last chronometric device from Doronin´s. capable of freefall up to 10 seconds KAP-1, designed for the Soviet Air Force Requeriments KAP-2, designed for the VDV requeriments. KAP-3, designed for a multipurpose device. AD-3, a chronometric device for mass dropping, and emergency parachutes. So, I must report to Your Person that the KAP-3 is a Second generation Soviet device, entered in Active duty in 1949, and was replaced in 1970 for the PPK-U System. Currently, the PPK-U System is being replaced for the AV-2. Of course, You have the choice not to believe me. Hoping to have expanded your mind, Blue Skies, and safe Skydives!
