SAVE SKYDIVE THE POINT!!!!
blacklabjumper replied to blacklabjumper's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The airport authority is evicting us from our hangar. Without the hangar we cannot operate. The latest on the facebook page is that Jim got an eviction letter yesterday and it states we have to be out by the end of the year. The reason for the eviction is several fire code violations that were not corrected in a timely manner according to the airport authority. They have since been corrected to code. However, they stated that we could still skydive we just couldn't use the hangar. Which is utterly ridiculous. Jim is expected to pack everything up and leave in less than 45 days after being there for almost 50 years. Most of us are just stunned right now. But we are starting to push back. There is a facebook page called stop the eviction of skydivers from west point. We are starting to contact the town council and the local businesses we patronize nearly all year round. West Point is a small town and our economic contribution to this small town is easily half a million dollars or more per year. Check out the facebook page it pretty much explains everything about the eviction and the latest updates. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2 -
I have recently developed an interest in this canopy per the suggestion of soemone I jump with on a regular basis. I am interested in doing some CRW starting next jumping season. I won't be doing it on a regular basis but defnitely want to start learning more in this area. based on what I have read this seems to be a good set up for someone such as myself who wants to do a little CRW but do it with the proper canopy but still be able jump the canopy of regular freefall jumps. I was wondering what the general opinion was of this canopy and what your experience has been with the hybrid. Thanks in advance. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2

Jen's baking is the "bomb" She always brings the best stuff to the DZ. But maybe she put something extra in the bread this time. I guess eating the bread while having sex would be too much too handle Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2

WE have water at WP? LOL don't worry it's not all that deep. Seriously do stay out of the water. Man we are gonna have a blast this weekend and the weather looks to good. Anybody interested in doing a high pull for sunset load can grab me and I will organize something. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2 -
Yeah my bad I forgot about Chambersburg. Delmarva might be closer mileage wise but drive time (depending on traffic) I think West Point is closer and a bit easier to get to. I have only been to delmarva twice and I remember being on a two lane road for what seemed like forever. I guess in the end it is a toss up. But like you said can't go wrong either way Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2

Skydive Orange and Skydive West Point are your two closest DZs. Can't go wrong at either one. Otrange has an otter and West Point has a King Air. Scenary and people at both places are good and welcoming. Delmarva is a bit of drive and not real easy to get to but they have an Otter as well. Since you are here for few weeks you can try each of them. Bottom line is all are good Drop Zones and you won't be disappointed with any of them. Boston this weekend. What sights to see?
blacklabjumper replied to JohnMitchell's topic in The Bonfire
if you are going to do the freedom trail you will need to hit Bunker Hill. They got a great indoor exhibit. Also, if the weather is crap I would strongly suggest the Boston Museum of Science and the Boston Aquarium. The science museum is huge and you could end spending a whole day there. Yeah but it is the only hotel we got in West Point, VA. I see the cleaning crews in there in the morning when I drive by. We have several jumpers that stay there almost every weekend and i have not heard anyone say it was really nasty. granted it is not the Plaza. What exactly traumatized you about that hotel? My Corset didn't budge in freefall. Then again it was friggin tight I was surprised i could arch. For a guy the corset mal does not appear to be an issue. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2 -

Left to right; Erika, K-Dubjumps, Blacklabjumper (aka Boston Tom), Bolas, Olympia. I don't think Erika is on DZ.com She just decided to join us because we had extra corsets. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2 -
Concerns after doing a Charity jump
blacklabjumper replied to Earlybirdmel's topic in Safety and Training
You are more likely to be killed or injured driving to and from work than you are skydiving. Go to USPA.org and they have all the stats. Yes, people die in our sport but they also die in other sports as well. We try to mitigate the risk. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2 -

bummed about a 2hour round trip? I think you will find quite a few people on here that wished the DZ was only an hour drive each way. I think you will find that you are on the correct site to find a ride. Just post a thread asking for any body going to your DZ that weekend. So if you tell us where you are and what DZ you go to I am sure you will find people on here that jump at your DZ. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2

No fun jumping in Las Vegas???
blacklabjumper replied to stclaire2003's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Last time I was in vegas I drove the hour north to mesquite and glad I did. This one little kick ass drop zone. I spent a weekend jumping there and they truly made me feel at home. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2 -
Yes Suffolk is a great DZ. Larry runs a first class operation and is a first class guy. Best of luck in your training. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2
