There is a dealer in Oregon that will let you demo complete rigs. Hell, he will even fly the plane for you. Might be a bit out of your way though.

Radio instruction - can you tell them to cut away?

Mr Hicks! I hate to break this to you man but your parachute did not open! Were talking mega malfunction dude! It's on your belly!!!! -
Agreed. Obviously if it is out of trim or there is a justifiable reason then replacement is waranted. What I am talking about is random replacement for no reason other than someone says you should. The canopy I mentioned above was not out of trim and opened just fine. Not to mention there was very little signs of wear.

My first rig was a Handbury. (Well, the first rig I paid for anyway) I got it from Ralph back in 1983. It had the infamous "Kidney" pouch. I often wondered why you don't see this innovatin on modern sport rigs.... Hmmmm?

The Hornet is a great canopy. They are getting harder to find since they don't make them any more. What size is it? If you don't buy it I will if it is the right size. Seriously!

Maybe I am old fashioned but I keep hearing about "new linesets" Back in the day we never replaced a line unless it broke. Now I hear about people replacing lines that are not broke with as few as 100. 200, 300, 400, etc. jumps. A few months ago this kid brings me a rig that he wants to sell and he says "The canopy only has 200 jumps but it need new lines" I looked at it and jumped it and said... What? Is this really necessary? Or do you just do it because someone told you it was the cool thing to do? The new motto seems to be: If it aint broke then fix it anyway

Under "disciplines of choice" why is there no option for student training jumps? If you are an instructor and jump with students on a regular basis you should have your own category.

20 weeks for an Infinity? That seems a bit long, I got mine in 4 weeks from Ralph. I think the reason he gets them faster is because he has slots reserved and paid for in advance. Besides that you get a better price. Most other dealers don't have the clout. But, if you want used he also has the largest inventory on the planet.

Don't forget his other buddy Dell! And take a shower you stinky deadhead! Well, I heard he cut his buddy down.... or something like that. But seriously....Rackstraw was a name mentioned around the bonfire more than once. You have to admit there is a resemblence..... It don't matter...The DNA from Coopers cigarette butts doesn't match any of the most popular suspects. None of the fingerprints match either. Or so I hve been told......... In my hUmble opinion cooper got away somehow. If he went in they would have found something...A harness, most of the money, the parachutes, or maybe that breifcase with red cylinders and wires. (remember the bomb? Nobody talks about that) Where is the friggin bomb? If he went in they would of found him, so the only conclusion is that he did not go in.... IMNSHO -

Jump #29 reserve ride - maybe this isn't for me...
peckerhead replied to hackish's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
After reading this post I went and dug out my old 1st log book to refresh my memory what I was doing on my 29th jump.... It was October 30 1981 and I was jumping a para-comander with a 26 foot lopo reserve. I did a 35 second delay from 7500 feet and got my ass chewed out for pulling too low. Back then you didn't have to jump with an aad after you had 25 jumps. -

Rackstraw! That is the name I was trying to remember.... ( I was thinking Jack Straw from Witchita) Back in the 80's I heard several people say they thought he was the guy. Rumor was he used to jump with Ralph. At least he does resemble the FBI Sketch.... More later, -
Ever jump with your canopy in backwards?
peckerhead replied to MissBuffDiver's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
I used to know some guys that did backwards crw in the 80's. Some buddies of mine tried to get me to do it but I refused. They did a two stack backwards and I docked third facing forward. It was hilarious watching them land...I did a nice standup and they came in backwards looking over their shoulders. The both came running in backwards (ever try to run backwards?) and ended up on their backs. A short time after that the wife of one of them did an intentional backwards jump and broke her back on landing. I have not seen anyone do one since then. 1987 I think it was. -
Abel Tasman (Motueka) is on the Northern part of the South Island. Great views of Abel Tasman National park and the Tasman sea. I don't know much about Christchurch, the DZ was closed due to weather the days I was there. (pouring rain, 0 visability) I started my trip in Auckland and ended in Christchurch before flying to Melbourne. Of the 4 DZ's I visited in NZ Abel Tasman was my favorite.

is there a record for most states jumped in a day?
peckerhead replied to countzero's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
I used to jump at a DZ that was on the state line. We would take off from one state and land in another. -
I have about 120 jumps on strato flyers and strato stars including 3 cutaways, two on the dame day. My first jump on a square was a strato star. I had better landings with a PC. I might consider a water jump on one.

A "true" hop and pop is 1800-2000 feet. I once had a cutaway on a hop and pop. It turned out to be a hop and pop and chop and drop and pop. No worries.

As some of you old-timers know I give blood. I believe talk is cheap and if you really want to buck-up you should put your arm where your mouth is. I give blood as often as I am able to, I hope some of the blood I give goes to our brave boys and girls in uniform. There is much trama here at home and abroad, if you don't give...Who will? Talk is cheap... Here is a link for you fighting 101st keyborders to step up to the plate.... http://www.redcross.org/donate/give/ More later,
