I did my training at Deland but live in South Carolina, so this is where I go. Have made a few jumps with the guys at Skydive Walterboro and these guys are great. My first jump I was asked to participate in a 4 way and they even catered the break off to my deployment altitude. They took me in and made me feel like I was a regular who has had 500 jumps with them. They went over the cross training for their rigs, (I trained with Vectors at Deland), went over exits from the C182 even before I was asked to join the 4 way and reviewed wind direction and spotting. Never once was I asked if I wanted to spend money on coaching or asked for a hand out. They just wanted to see me succeed and have a safe, fun time. This is my home DZ until I move to Orlando, Florida in January 2005. I cant say enough good things about Skydive Walterboro and the people there. A+++ for the vibe.

I have read a few posts from my searches and have found some negative post about the pervious softwares. does anyone have the newest version Neptune and if so have you had any problems (bugs). does the average speed fall into brackets (12,9,6,3 Alt) or is it an overall average speed. Also has anyone used the paralog or Jumptrack and if so which one is better. Thanks guys and girls, I am trying to figure out if I want the Neptune or the Pro Track for Christmas.

Hello everyone, I was just wondering what is the usual length of apprenticeship for rigging. how many month at how many days per week or hours. I really don’t know how this works. I would appreciate examples from actual riggers who had apprentices. This is something that interests me and who knows what the future brings. Thanks, Mike

Where to go for AFF: SDU, Deland, Zhills, ETC
Terminal-V replied to Terminal-V's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hello everyone, I am about to start my journey into the skydiving world. I saved up the money and have the approved time off from work. My question is about Skydive university at Deland compared to places like Skydive Deland, Zhills etc. Is SDU worth the extra 500.00 dollars? Or is it better to just go to skydive Deland and do it through them. I’ve been told by SDU that the chance of a repeat level is very minimum do to the tunnel training. I have also read many places that people usually have to repeat a level or two when they train the conventional AFF way. Is SDU all that it’s cracked up to be or not. It’s been mentioned in such books as Jump and some others. In Jump by Tom Buchanan, my interpretation of the section that talks about SDU is that Mr. Buchanan put SDU on an above average level, Who agrees and who disagrees? Thank You everyone for your time and responses. I am trying to make the best decision possible when it comes to my path of training.. Thank You all, Mike -
