I think it's a great idea. If people pull over to see alligator farms, they'll pull over to see a parachuting museum. I'd visit it. But then, I'm a fan of museums in general. And I don't think USPA dues are going to fund it. The story said that USPA and PIA both donated some seed money, but I think they're going to solicit donations for the rest. Balloon jumps are kind of scary because there's no telling where you'll land. On mine, I ended up smack in the middle of a bean field, and the other jumper on the load in a back yard. Just be sure to spot it carefully. Otherwise, I think you'll be OK. If you jump at a 182 dz, try to hit a busy turbine dz at least a couple of times between now and then to get used to the traffic. Grr. So they won't bother to educate their personnel about this somewhat common sport item, and reserve the right to turn us away from the gate at whim. USPA needs to make use of its Washington D.C. headquarters and its lobbyists and get on this. I don't think the problem is Delta -- if the TSA knew what they were doing and hadn't raised a stink, you wouldn't have had some no-nothing Delta employee getting involved. I think this guy is right in spirit, if not in letter. But he has misjudged a lot of "community opinion." For example: No...we scrap like angry kittens on that one. I don't think this is accurate. Now this, I think is true. I wish this were true. Instead, we have 200 lb recent graduates "swooping" their 150 square foot canopies. Oh no! Really? I don't recall seeing this, at least not in a couple of years. Unless he means within the forums. In any case, I think while he makes some good points, he missed the one big point, which is, without moderation, forums like this are doomed to deteriorate exactly like rec. Any archival resource value this place has would be gone as soon as you start letting people insult each other's mothers in the gear forum. Skydiving is for cool people only -
I don't feel like going out either. I just called and blew off a party. I still may end up at the gay bars before the night is over...but I doubt it. I'm sleepy! And it's no fun being out at midnight with no one to smooch! Skydiving is for cool people only

Aw, you guys are so cynical. My parents have been together almost 30 years, and by God there were years I WISHED they would get divorced cause they were sniping at each other so much, but for the most part, they make a great team. The best part of the day for me when I'm visiting them is I roll out of bed and join them at the kitchen table to drink coffee and talk about the paper. There's something that seems so safe and happy about it. Skydiving is for cool people only
