...she asked desperately, bored out of her EVER-LOVIN' GOURD. I saw Memento (movie about a guy with no short-term memory) the other night -- GREAT FLICK!! Tho I do wonder why he didn't wear a pen on a chain around his neck. Seems like it woulda solved a lot of problems. The premise was gimmicky, but unique. Three and a half stars. I've read a couple of bad reviews of Tomb Raider. I have a feeling of forboding. I had such high hopes. I'm still going to see it, though...Angelina Jolie, ROWR! Not yet -- I have to dig out my Stars jersey and make a sign that says "WINGS SUCK LIKE A HOOVER!!" I'm thinking about using glitter paint. Think it would hold up in freefall? I'll send you a photo.

Skydive Dallas is REALLY freefly friendly. There are tons of 'em out there. Summer weekends are really busy, but there's an otter and a cessna caravan. Everyone out there is great. Bring beer! Let me know if you're coming!

I love to fly! My parents are private pilots and we had our own plane. It feels like I spent half my childhood in that Piper Cherokee. N6633L, baby!! I was grateful to have no fear of flying and small planes when I started skydiving -- just one less thing to be nervous about on that first jump.

Glad you're okay, palsy. Though this does bring to mind a question: in the Caravan, we often belt ourselves in around a leg, or the leg strap. That seems to me like just a "let's be legal" type of thing; I don't think it would offer much restraint in the event of a crash. Thoughts?

Okay, I think I figured something out! I'm getting the feeling that male homosexuality is considered a joke, something to be made fun of. A common attitude, but sort of gay-hostile, no? So perhaps, Emma, it makes about as much sense for us to be asking why there are so few gay skydivers as it would for us to ask why there are so few gay professional football players, you know? Food fer thought.

I've got two weeks off from this Orwellian nightmare I call a "job" in September, and I was thinking about spending it at a dropzone, jumpin' my ass off. Any suggestions about where to go? I was thinking Eloy or Sebastian, off the top of my head, because of the SDU resources there. Criteria: * good weather * bunk houses or some way I could stay on the dz * nightly partying * lots of nice people * big airplanes TIA!

I was thinking about this just the other day... Not so much the WASP part of it, because that's something you get used to very quickly on a dropzone, because ethnicity is so visually obvious. What I was wondering about was the lack of gay skydivers. I don't believe I've ever met a one, and I don't know why. My best friend, a gay male, plans to come with me soon. He's very enthusiastic about the idea. But all the dropzone "regulars," especially the men, seem to be STRAIGHTSTRAIGHTSTRAIGHT. Like, ARE-YOU-CALLIN-ME-A-QUEER???-type straight. I wonder why.
