This tunnel is going to make me poor.
-
Yes, but what if you use the "one hand on each handle" method of deployment? Of course the RSL will be faster than your hands if you are taking the time to remove both hands from the cut-away then applying them to the reserve ripcord handle.
-
Go with a Mirage G4, I love mine, and in my opinion they are the best looking rigs out there. It is the finest container for freeflying.
-
The split bag actually makes it easier to pack, unless of course you are retarded. I would try refining your packing skills before sewing it together.
-
Hell, put me in for $100. Life is short, and booze is only so good...
-
Very entertaining. Unfortunately, completely made up.

Well, this confuses me a little. My rigger is quite talented and if he can't make it look normal I feel that nobody can. One detail I might add is that I have a tempo 170 in a G4 M4 container. It's a little large, but I've been told that tempos have a smaller bulk than pd's. So, I am confused, is this a rigging problem, or do I need a new pc?
-
Can anybody comment on the looks of a G4 after installing the new reserve pilot chute? My current pack job, after the service bulletin, looks like shit. After talking to a few riggers, I've concluded that the only way to make my rig look normal again is to get fucked out of $100 for a new pilot chute. This is not only a visual annoyance; the reserve flap has such a large gap in it, that I catch it on things in the plane. This is simply not acceptable. So, before I dish out the cash and buy a new pilot chute, I would like to hear if it works. I just want my rig to look like it did before the SB, and to be safer than it is now.

Looking at that link, those soft links don't appear to be any different than slinks, other than the metal ring. I'm not seeing a reason why I couldn't just use slinks. Perhaps somebody from Aerodyne could reply to this idea. I understand that PD makes slinks, but remember my goal here is to minimize/rid the rig of metal.
-
I didn't mean that I was going to try this work, but have a rigger do it for me. I just want those damn metal shackles out of the reserve container. I can even feel them on my back.
-
I can't find any details on Aerodyne's site about their own softlinks. I want to get rid of as much metal as possible from my rig, problem is I just had a repack. Would it be possible to just open the reserve container and replace with slinks without a full repack?
-
I as told by my rigger that reserve slinks only work with PD reserves. Does anybody know if this is true? I am trying to use slinks with my Tempo170.
-
I've had some trouble finding just one reserve slink to buy, as they come in packs of 4 for like $35. Does anybody know where I might buy just one?

After sending one suit back for being improperly sized, I was sent a suit that has arms that are 3 inches too short. The zipper is almost broken after 40 jumps, and threads are loose allover the place. I would not recommend these suits to anyone that wants a suit to last. My suit is one step from being torn, zipper-less and useless.

Well, I have gotten a few great answers. I think jumping the gun on downsizing could prove to be a terrible mistake. But, I get nothing but bad reviews from tempos, it's gotten to the point of just praying I don't have to use the damn thing. You'll notice there are a lot of them for sale compared to PD reserves, I think this is for a good reason. I liked the idea of flying a PD160, that is the largest reserve my container can handle anyway. It has a tempo 170 right now, but I was told it packs up a little smaller so it fits quite well, plus my rigger is very talented. So if anybody has a PD160 stitting around, pm me please. :)

Great post my friend. I honestly think I just might stick with my tempo 170 reserve for a while..although I do not trust it. The reason I am looking to downsize my main to a 150 is, it is the smallest size main my container (G4 M4) can handle. There is something about that that draws me in, and I understand that is not a good idea..hell my 170 will let me know sometimes downwind or crosswind that it is still a performance canopy and will toss my ass if the winds are right. My DZ is at an elevation of just over 5,000 ft. in elevation. So the experience is a little more intense.

How about the date of manufacture? Can I be sure that buying a rig from 199x is safe? Surely I will have it inspected before jumping it, it just scares me a little that it's so old.
-
Um, I have a hard time getting info out of instructors at my DZ. They always seem annoyed by any questions I have, and are far too busy with tandems to sit down and talk to me. That is why I am posting here, to get a wide pool of info, not just what a few think here.
-
My reasoning behind a smaller reserve is stupid, I want the rig to be as small as possible, and be as light as possible. I see the reserve as something that will save my life at the expense of performance/size. Any input on this would help me greatly as I love learning :)

I am in the market for a new PD reserve (must be PD), and I have a few quesions regarding them. First, is it safe to buy a used reserve? I see alot for sale in the classifieds, but they are all manufactured prior to 2000. Should I be worried about the age of the reserve? Second, how much smaller should the reserve be (if any) than my main? I am currently flying a spectre 170 loaded at 1, but I intend to downsize to a 150 later in the summer. I am flying a tempo 170 reserve, which I hear nothing but bad things about (hence the company switch). I was thinking about a PD 143 reserve, but I have my doubts. Any help is greatly appreciated :)

I am a low-time jumper, and for my first downwind landing I just ran it out..wasn't exactly the best feeling on my ankles, but I managed. It was the first time I jumped a 190 also. which I load at about .95 so no big deal.
