Pretty rough, was deployed past my ETS date, when it came time to leave my friends who were still going to have another 6 months to look forward to in Iraq I started wondering if I really wanted out. Got back to the states, and did my best (drank a lot) to keep my mind off of my unit still doing what I felt that I should be doing even though I despised the cause. It wasn't until my first jump that I realized I could have the parts that I loved about the army without the bullshit, i.e. the camaraderie, the adventure, and the really fun nights. The difficult part was figuring out what the hell I wanted to do for a living... it was all a little grey in comparison to what I'd just left. The easy part was not having to listen to some dumb ass give me an order that put myself and others in harms way unnecessarily. Yes, but only if there was a reason...i.e. a war worth fighting for. Screw Garrison.

Oh yeah that happened to me once... or maybe not. It's hard to tell what really happened and what didn't ya know?

I'm going somewhere. I haven't been to deland in a while, I haven't done night jumps in a while. This means that someone who cares more and smokes less than I do should make this decision for me. Screw you guys, I'm going home.

10th anniversary at skydive tallahassee
No_Shoes replied to mgerra28's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I had a blast, got in some jumps that I hadn't had the opportunity to do before. Like the High altitude. The lack of oxygen lent to me having even more fun. Then there was the hop n pop which didn't go quite as planned but I found it still a blast. Cheers to everyone. -

-BEST END OF THE BOOGIE-WEEKEND MOMENT and MOST WELL-EARNED NICKNAME goes to Kevin "Cheech" Dunn a.k.a. Towelly the Talking Towel for that really beautiful sunset off-landing which all of us so enjoyed watching from the hangar. (He claims he was "distracted by a cloud." {No shit! That's actually what he said, just ask him!} But I think he was just dizzy from trying to inhale it.) I wouldn't lie or anything, it was a really cool cloud. With the sun setting the way that it was it was all pink and shimmering you should of seen it. Well maybe not since I didn't quite make it back. Also it wasn't really the first clouds that got me, those were up wind, it was the cute little one that I dove that 370 ft canopy through that got me downwind a half mile. That cloud had seemed so small and yet when I went through it it was pretty dense, and it had some great swirling action going on inside of it. Right out of the movie Brazil. Was great seeing ya again Serenity I look forward to the next time.... will you be doin night jumps at the farm?

Sweet now I've located my shoes, now if I could remember what else I was missing I could maybe find that. Dropzone.com rules it's like the lost and found of my things. And drugs are terrible, I'd never do drugs. But I think my cat is a little stoned right now.

All ramen noodles need is hot sauce, everything else is just fluff

Oh yes forgot a few things... what a surprise. A big reason that I went to the last farm boogie was because Lee told me it was ok that I didn't have any cash that he'd let me pack for him and help me out if I needed. Also a major reason that I went to the boogie on saturday was because Lee convinced me that I should. Even after everything that has gone on, all the rumour, inuendo, theories and lies I've heard Lee still said I should go. He said I should do it because I'd have fun, and after he told me that I knew he was right. I knew it would feel odd without him there like it has the last few times I've been but skydiving is about fun so I went. I also had a blast. P.S. Oh and if anyone comes across a pair of brown laofers, I'm missing them again. I had to wear combat boots to work and that just sucked. also, if anyone happens to find a pair of blue sunglasses on the side of highway 12 on the way from the dz to quincy I wouldn't mind getting those back, I'd just bought them in the morning sunday. Oh and I located my fone, now all I have to do is pay the bill hehehe

Very well put Brian, and I for appreciate the fact that there are worse things that could of been said. I've listened to many of these things be said the last few weeks and I've done my best to choose no side. I still choose no side, and I'm not going to at a later time. Like Robby quoted "Friends are the family you choose", I have not chosen to stop hanging out with anyone involved in this because of this. I myself heard a good quote two weeks ago which was "Skydiving is all about fun. If you forget to pull you're not having fun, so just have fun and everything else will be good." I've been traveling on these weekends a lot lately and the thing that I'm completely dumbfounded by is that skydiving is the "reason" that all of us are going but to be honest with me that is just a bonus. The last farm boogie I went up there with 7$ in my bank account and not a penny in my pocket. I went up there to hang out and have fun. It worked out that I packed my ass off got in three jumps was able to buy somethings like food and candy, but even if I hadn't been able to jump or eat I still would of had a blast simply from the people that I was there with, not to mention the people that were up there not from our group who were also a blast to sit around the campfire with. Brian, thanks for being able to write this post and write it well, two things that I was unable to do. Also thank you for working to get that high altitude jump up, that was my FIRST and I must say the lack of oxygen was AWESOME. If only I could always have a 40 second sit fly followed by a 10 minute canopy ride. I look forward to the day that all of us can be around a fire again, drink a beer and look forward to the morning as a family again with all of our inherent differences and similiarities. P.S. My landing on highway 12 was a blast also~!~ Beernuts to Skydive Tallahassee for a great Boogie

I can't wait to get stoned with Brandy's Parents, I'll have to save some money and get a nice sack...other than the one that I always carry around

I can't believe you missed the Roaming DZ Destin beach jumps!
No_Shoes replied to RastaRicanAir's topic in The Bonfire
Damn I love Romain DZ....hmm no... Roaming DZ there we go. I wonder what all the old people in Destin would say if 100 skydivers converged on Destin. I bet there would be at least 10 heart attacks, not from the jumping but from them watching us Saturday nights. I do remember Spence mentioning something about not wanting to have a ton of people come, but I'm guessing the word is out now. Hopefully we can organize something that will allow for a lot of people. Spence if you need any help let me know, I would love to see another one of these Boogie's go down. I think the most interesting thing of that weekend was saturday night when I kept "dreaming" that the water was engulfing me, I kept falling into the water but couldn't do anything about it. Wierd man. -

I find it hard to believe you were ever quiet. You came out of the womb cursing the nurse, be honest. -
OK, have posted twice and not even commented on last weekend. I only got in three jumps but the more I think about it the better that weekend was. I went up there without a dollar in my pocket (unfortunately literally) and I made three jumps, spent a decent amount of money saturday night on various things and was even able to EAT on the way home. Thank you for all who trusted my pack jobs...wonder if I should mention that I don't jump my own packs... haha suckers. I would like to thank all the women that were there for pretending to listen to me as I rambled on about god knows what saturday night. I might also mention that that was a great party. Any party where I decide to go to sleep at 5:30 not because it was really dying down but just because I did not want to see that evil sun rise is a great party. Luckily the Tall Blue Men left me alone that night, although it was not uneventful for me. Robby watch that body position, and Miki... my bad for making you land off. I think next time we'll get someone else to spot though. While I was under canopy I was thinking it might of been a good idea if I'd had shoes... untill I made it back then I got rid of that thought fast. I'm already looking forward to the next 110 Boogie, and if we can get the plane to pick us up that would be even sweeter. I promise I won't drink on the plane if that helps at all. I think I think, therefore I think that I am... I think - some rabbit

The only way I want to see that guy again is if I get some more of those chocolates. I'll also make sure to buy you a beer robbie because you were waaaaaay too funny that night. It might of been the chocolates, that made you funny but I think it was just great how belligerent you were.

You're so going this time. Whatever state you happen to be in I'm going to make The Brit pick you up and take you to Destin. I need someone there that I can make fun of his laugh with. Oh yeah and the jumps were great, I can't wait till we go again. Don't care if it's hop n pop's again or altitude, either way I'm going to love it. Free Fly Brian needs to go also, I bet he can pull a swoop from over AJ's to the beach.

Dude I hope it's like the last radio show I watched. You should have more of those, radio would be so much better. Well at least being in the studio....

Another great weekend Spence. Wish you could of gotten out there sooner man, oh well you made it for the important part... saturday night. This is another Boogie that I'm completely looking forward to. It sounds like there might be another Bus of us like the last Farm Boogie. That would be great, that makes the drive up there as much fun as the boogie. I'm going to start packing and saving that money for this boogie now so that I will get to jump and other while up there in that cold cold place Georgia. You'll know when I get there, I'll be the drunk one that falls out of the ride. CAN'T WAIT!! -

Unfortunately I don't have a million for one of those hurricane eye jumps, but I would pay a months salary to do one. That's all I've been talking about at work since this hurricane spree started a month ago. Ivan's got a great eye for one, it was like 12 miles wide when it went over cuba. All I have to find is one of those hurricane punching planes and a nutso pilot. John gave us a great ride in that one storm a month and a half ago but I'm going to bet he'd tell me to piss off if I asked him to fly into a hurricane. Oh well I'm going to find out anyways. I'm stoked to hear that the requirements for the high altitude jumps are 100 jumps, I'm so there. I've been telling everyone about this weekend for a few months now. If Ivan even thinks about coming this way I'm totally going to kick his ass. See ya'll this weekend and as someone more important than me once sed "Let's get it on!" (did Robby just say that? He's not more important than me he just likes to talk) -

I'm definately taking the scenic route, those are the best places to get lost in. you go into the corner store, which isn't on a corner because there's only the single road for 20 miles and you get to talk to Bubba who will tell you everything you want to know about the racoon that he shot with his .45 at last night. -
