  1. My fiancee and I are getting married New Year's Day at Deland, and are wondering if anyone out there has jumpsuits that somewhat resemble a wedding dress (or just all white maybe) and/or a tuxedo. My fiancee is 5'3" and I am 5'10", 125lbs. If anyone has suits that might work for us, please send me a PM or something. We'll be leaving for Florida Sunday morning, but currently live in North Carolina. Thanks, Mike
  2. Yes, she will be doing a tandem, and I will probably do a two way with the person doing the ceremony. If any of you show up and want to be in on the jump, that's fine with me. Probably will just do a round, but haven't really discussed it much yet. AnotherGoodin-Dec.26-Jan.1 MWGemini-Dec 26-Jan 2 Mike
  3. My fiancee and I *MIGHT* be able to take some of that tunnel time, but right now, I highly doubt it. My boss was supposed to pay me for a program I wrote for him yesterday, but decided to leave for his vacation without telling me, and is now out of the country, so my funds for the near future will be very limited. I need a new job . Mike
  4. As of this post, this thread is currently the largest thread in this forum (Events & Places to Jump), and is close to being the largest thread on the entire site. Mike
  5. I know you weren't replying to me, but I jump a Spectre 170 and absolutely love it. Nice, soft, on-heading openings every time. I've only jumped it about 15 times though. Other (larger) Spectres opened and flew just as nice as well. Mike
  6. 5"10", 125lbs. My average is around 105 without weights, and mid 120s with 15lbs, but I've been told that I tend to fly pretty flat. I think that may have something to do with an old back injury, but I fall slow regardless. Mike
  7. Your cat is adorable. Looks a lot like one of mine did when he was a kitten. Also- nice board in your avatar. I miss surfing. East coast and surf just don't mix. Mike
  8. Nate_1979 and I are in the pub, we're trying to get it on the right side of the screen. We need to all grab a letter and hold it, I think. Mike
  9. We should get this going while in the pub so we can coordinate. GO NOW! http://www.dropzone.com/chat/ Mike
  10. I have only seen a single hanging harness, the one I used during my student training, but it requires the user to also be wearing a rig. The hanging harness covers up the real handles with training handles, but does not drop the user on a cutaway (although that would probably take about 20 minutes to modify if they wanted to). Do most other hanging harnesses work the same way, or is this system somewhat unique? Thanks, Mike
  11. That last image is definitely a fake, as you can clearly see the outriggers have been extended in that shot and earlier shots, not to mention there is a person calmly standing where the truck would have been a split second earlier. Mike
  12. I have a Pro-Track and I update my logs on the computer every weekend using their Jump-Track software. I have not fully explored all its features yet, but I really like it. I've also jumped a Neptune once or twice and I REALLY liked it and will eventually purchase one to use as a wrist mount. I have not used the ParaLog software, however, nor do I know of anyone who has. Mike
  13. I'll have to take your word for it, since I have very limited knowledge of wingsuits and high performance canopies. Certainly no first hand knowledge. While I do not doubt the validity of your words, I think it might be safer to say "CURRENT wingsuits can not fly slower to land". I'm confident that eventually somebody will come up with a design that can do it. Maybe it will be Jeb. Maybe he will die trying. But eventually, we will see wingsuits land and their pilots walk away. Of that, I have little doubt. Mike
  14. In case you haven't seen it, here's the video of Luigi flying and landing the VX 39 http://www.cbpq.org.br/downloads.php Keep in mind the guy flying the black wingsuit right next to Luigi is Jeb. Also keep in mind that the Xaos 21-21 has been flown (although not landet...yet). These canopies are obviously very fast. If Luigi can land the 39 safely, with a little bit of planning and luck, a wingsuit can and WILL be landed safely in the near future. Before anyone flames me for being new to the sport or for bringing up an incident in which an extremely skilled jumper died (Chris Martin flying the Xaos 21-21. RIP Chris), think about it for a second. That press release states they are working on 4 technologies. Obviously all they need is a way to flare the wingsuit, devices to protect the body (similar to what a motorcycle rider would wear, perhaps), a device to interface with the ground, be it wheels, skis, or something else, and a way to slow down. I'm neither a wingsuit pilot nor an engineer, but I'm certain that it can and will be done. The only questions are: WHEN and WHO. Mike
  15. I'm hesitant to comment on this, as I have no knowledge of the validity of your statement. However, I have jumped at Carolina Sky Sports, owned and operated by Paul Fayard, for about a year and a half, and it's a really great DZ. Great people, great facilities, great aircraft. I've never jumped at Lake Wales, but I'm sure that it will remain/become a great DZ, judging from the things I've seen at CSS. Mike
  16. That really sucks. Biff was as much a part of CSS as any of the jumpers. I'm sure Rob is taking it harder than most. Maybe he would be interested in getting a puppy to raise? Mike
  17. I was stationed at Bragg, currently live in Raleigh, and Jump at carolina Sky Sports in Louisburg, NC. I, and a lot of the other regulars at CSS would definitely use the tunnel on a regular basis. So whats the ETA? Mike
  18. It was good meeting you too, Cynthia. Maybe next time I'll be able to jump with you guys. You and Dave are a VERY cute couple. Sarah agrees with me, and she is never wrong . Brian- thanks a TON for the suit. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. It makes a big difference in how I fly, and is forcing me to be more aware of my leg position. I owe you! Marion & Ellis- thanks for the advice on learning to sit fly. I was only able to do two sit fly jumps, and neither went very well, but I'm hoping to work on it a bit more next weekend. Joe- sorry that I missed seeing your band play last night, I was really looking forward to that. I'm glad you're ok after the landing you had today. Don't forget to give Eric a copy for the weekend review video . Eric- let me know if you like that magazine I gave you, and I'll try to find the other issues I've got. They just started publishing it a few months ago, so you can probably still get it for free like I did. Mike
  19. That is exactly the info I was looking for, thanks. I guess I'll just have to wait for the Skyventure tunnel to get built. Thanks, Mike
  20. I know that Ft. Bragg has a wind tunnel for SWC/HALO school/Golden Knight use, but I didn't think to try to use it when I was stationed there. Does anyone know what the requirements are to get time in there? I am no longer active duty, so I'm sure whatever small chance I HAD is now long gone, but it can't hurt to ask. Also, I've seen on the SkyVenture site that they are planning to build a 14ft/161mph tunnel near Ft. Bragg. Does anyone have any information on this? When is it expected to be open, and are prices going to be roughly equivalent to SkyVenture Orlando? Also, information on the exact location (if known) would be useful, as I now live in Raleigh. Thanks, Mike
  21. I'm sure there's a song out there catchy enough to get stuck in your head, Brian. I've decided that this weekend will be my "learn to freefly" weekend, since RW a) doesn't really interest me and b) requires me to wear an anvil if I want any hope of docking and/or turning points. Hopefully I can get 10-15 jumps in over the 4 days. Mike
  22. Do I even want to know? Eric- I hope that pack job was not "the perfect pack job" that is "begging to be jumped for something special". Partly because I like being able to walk, and partly because Dawn is just going to have to unpack it anyways to sew on those keepers for me. I can just pack it Thursday when I show up, anyways. I need the practice. Dawn- If you don't have the time to sew on those elastic keepers, it's no big deal. I'm hopefully going to be buying those new risers we discussed sometime around January or so, depends on how much the wedding costs. Speaking of wedding, you're all invited, if you happen to be near Deland at New Year's. It won't be anything big, so don't expect much, but it should be fun. Mike
  23. Here's a few shots of my new to me rig. Mirage G3 M4, built 2 years ago. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1355125#1355125 Mike
  24. Yours is one of a very few Mirage's I've actually thought look good. For some reason, I don't really like the look of the Mirage that much, I prefer the Javelin or the Wings. I chose Mirage based on features and safety, and not aesthetics. I do like the way my rig looks, however, and I'm EXTREMELY happy with it. Are you and any of the other Hispas coming out next weekend for the boogie? Mike
