I just saw an episode of the Discovery Channels "No Opportunity Wasted" where some girl had conquer her fears by skydiving. She had went through with it, had an AFF Jump and great landing. The best part was her very positive reaction after the landing. She was even sporting a closing pin necklace

This thread also revolves around insurance - Sorry about starting this one but I did not want it to get lost in the last thread. As I said before, I know someone who wants to start jumping, but has no heath insurance. He looked up this company at www.iabplus.com. Have any of you guys heard of it or know someone who has used it. Please, let me know, I think that he needs to sign up by tomorrow. Do you know of any companies that would cover skydiving/accident? I was on rescue/ems standby along with probably thousans more, and the worst feeling in the world was the fact that there was noone to rescue. Afterwards I couldn't stand all the tourists and people taking pictures -- would you take pictures of a cemetery? -- I can now understand that it may be part of their coping mechanism. But I still think that route of Path (NY/NJ train) to be of very poor taste. I feels like a Disney ride -- it goes from the darkness of the tunnel right into the pit Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches!

Newbies: Do you pack your own rig?

Unfortunately due to poor weather I have yet to start my AFF, so my next time at the DZ I'll be taking a packing class. I'm not sure I'll be able to actually pack the student rig, but its worth learning ASAP. At nearly $200 per AFF jump and ~ 2hr drive I'll like to make the most of my time at the DZ. After speaking incessantly, about my unfortunately too few skydives, a temp at my company has decided that he too needs to jump. Slight problem, Like millions of other citizen of the biggest, baddest and richest industrialized country in the world, he does not have heath insurance. He obviously understands the potential danger, but I think that he has made up his mind. Should I encourage him to go on and join our sickness or discourage him until he's able to afford insurance.
