  1. ljkenny, You might want to read the 'incidents' and 'safety and training' forums first. Altitude awareness, and mostly knowing how high you are regarding to your hard deck is VITAL when trying to sort out a mal. Out of the 5 reasons that you've advanced, 4 (watch, heart rate monitor, comfort, looks) have nothing to do with skydiving. The 4th one can be related (skydiving is quite expensive) but 2nd hand altimeters are available. I bought mine for 25€. As a big roll eyes emoticon isn't available, I'll have to use . You need to toughen up a bit, or soon you'll ditch the helmet because it is messing with your haircut. All your dropzone are belong to us!!!!111!
  2. This is why I used the words 'probably' and 'may be'... You've got 1000 jumps and you're a swooper. The original poster has entered a A type license. Have you taken that into account. Your digital altimeter-watch may be great, like you said, but I hate it when people rate the bling-bling factor above safety and reliability. All your dropzone are belong to us!!!!111!
  3. Is there a related health issue (weak or broken fingers) or... is it just uncool to your eyes? What Phoenixlpr said... Skydiving altimeters aren't very accurate but I wouldn't trust those watches: they probably aren't designed to react to a quick increase of air pressure (leading higher readings than real altitude) and the pressure sensor may be poorly placed regarding to the burble above your hand (again, leading to higher readings). LCD screens can also be hard to read under bright sunlight. And during a mal, while you're tossed around, you'll read far more easily that big ass dial than tiny figures on a lcd screen. 4. What could possibly go wrong?? Too bad almost every Luftwaffe test pilot died during their first test flight of the Bachem Natter, their 'experience' could have been useful to him All your dropzone are belong to us!!!!111!
  5. C'mon, its a BUTTerfly...obvious All your dropzone are belong to us!!!!111!
  6. Not anymore (and I don't miss it, actually) When I was teen, I played Call of Cthulhu (a lot), Stormbringer, Cyberpunk, MERPG and, for only a couple of sessions and it's too bad because it was AWESOME, Vampire. I honestly don't think that I could play those games now as seriously as before. All your dropzone are belong to us!!!!111!

  10. It's an ACCELERATION constant: 9.81 m/s^2 at sea level. The higher you go, the lower the constant (diff is negligible at 14000 ft) Without any air resistance, you'd keep accelerating until impact (oh and your parachute wouldn't do any good ) So you can tell him that you don't accelerate faster than gravity and reassure him that you won't get fined for trespassing Newton's law All your dropzone are belong to us!!!!111!

  17. That sucks. It is sad to be reminded that there are dirt bag skydivers among us. Can’t say I’m surprised however. How exactly did your gear get stolen? You are being a lot more civil about this crime than I would be. I would be storming the dropzone opening up everyone’s bags and searching their cars. No mercy, I wouldn’t care if they thought I was a dick. I would then hire a cop to administer lie detector tests to everyone that works at the dropzone. Anyone who refused would answer to my scrutiny. It was probably the DZO that stole your equipment. UntamedDOG All your dropzone are belong to us!!!!111!
  18. It's absolutely normal. We sometimes have a Skyvan at the DZ and, although I LOVE those tailgates exits, I still have some kind of weakness in the knees while approaching this giant hole. All your dropzone are belong to us!!!!111!
  19. I did my 100th this saturday but I kept some clothes on. I planned a RW 4 with video with friends and we dirt-dived it a bit but when we approached the tailgate of the Skyvan I flipped them the bird and left before they were ready... The WTF? look on their face was priceless. Needless to say that we didn't turn a single point but the cameraman and I were able to dock so I could pull him faces OTOH, they caught me afterwards and pied me quite 'properly' What the...? Eeeek! Gross! The cheap bastiges! All your dropzone are belong to us!!!!111!
  20. Yesterday, an experienced girl at my DZ attracted my attention on the danger to have the attachement point of the chin strap INSIDE the helmet shell. She told me that if a riser or a line gets into this snag point, it could break my neck. My helmet is a Parasport Italia Fairwind. It makes sense but I noticed later that A LOT of other skydiving helmets (i.e. Pro-Tec) share this 'feature'. Is it a well-known potential danger amongst the community and the manufacturers or is it a bit of safety overkill? Anyway, I plan to reattach the strap on the outside but I need to find a rivet pistol first... All your dropzone are belong to us!!!!111!
  21. What's wrong with black? Actually, I'm aware that I'm not as easy to spot as a neon pink canopy so I like to hang in the air away from traffic and land after/away from the others (relatively easy as it glides well). With the coloured line attachement points and the center cell marking, an all black aerodyne pilot is not harder to pack than any other. All your dropzone are belong to us!!!!111!

  23. From my experience with a pilot 188 and a cayenne 190, the pilot flies faster AND glides better than the cayenne. The pilot certainly loses less altitude in turns. Do you compare your cayenne 190 with a pilot 188? All your dropzone are belong to us!!!!111!
  24. AT?? No, I found it on HiTechCreations forums... But I'll admit that I 'sometimes' visit the Poop Reports.... Gosse, that wasn't me....I heard it from a guy All your dropzone are belong to us!!!!111!
