Holy Moses! What a hot temper You must be a "real" American, just washed up to the East Coast, right? edited for typo Sorry it bothers me when somebody that was convicted of multiple felonies, fleecing a corporation for millions, and is facing the spending rest of his life in prision is allowed to spend a few months vacationing. It also bothers me when our government gives billions of dollars in subsidies to oil companies for the purpose of increased production yet the same companies don't increase production and return record profits. It also bothers me that our government is constantly declaring open ended wars on abstract opponents: war on drugs, war on terror, ect... When all these was do is widdle away at personal freedoms. If you're not bothered either you're not paying attention, you're a billionaire, or you just don't care.

A heart attack is too kind for that M%*her F$$ker. I feel like Karmic law dictated he spend the rest of his life being raped in prison. At the very least, after being convicted he should have died alone in jail awaiting his sentence, not vacationing in the Rockies. I hope that the body is throughly examined and verified with a DNA test. I'm sure there will be a long line to piss on his grave.

Just like the Beatles the Italians got by with a little help from their friends - officials. Where did you get that rubbish? Did you even see the game? Granted, the ref in the USA game was messed up and was handing out cards like candy (and he wasn't just favouring the Italians -- he gave Totti a yellow that he didn't deserve in the beginning of the game), but there were no questionable calls in this game -- Polak's two yellows were well-deserved. Italy just played great football :) No I didn't watch the Chek game other than to catch the score, still living in the past after Saturday's game with the US. No matter. I'd rather see Ghana advance than the Chek's.

I just went out too lunch with a German guy I work with and we watched the first half of the opening World Cup game over lunch. I'd been looking forward to it more this year than anyother year, but after finding yet another great distraction to my already thoroughly distracted work day, I have a feeling I'm really going to enjoy it.

Actual Negative Impact of Illegal immigration
aftermid replied to aftermid's topic in Speakers Corner
I think people have given pretty good specific examples so far. Some are things comming from the East Coast I would have no reason to think of as impacts of immagration. A great example of why so much legislation fails to even address the problem it is inacted for. It is far more effective/efficient to solve problems by looking at direct relationships than focusing on indirect relationships. Feel free to generalize. Assume the the immigrant is illegal. -
Actual Negative Impact of Illegal immigration
aftermid replied to aftermid's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm just curious how many people have had a first hand negative encounter with illegal immigrants. I live in a major city with a significant hispanic population and have never had any negative experiences with any immigrants in general. In developing my opinion on the issue, I'm reluctant to trust assertions made by politican and the media on both sides, because they tend to be pretty selfserving. If other people have had first hand encounters I'd like to hear about them. -
Actual Negative Impact of Illegal immigration
aftermid replied to aftermid's topic in Speakers Corner
Other than the use of public services, can anyone give me a specific example of the negative impact of an illegal immigrant has had directly on you. Examples my be: “I lost my job because an illegal immigrant would do it for less…” or “I didn’t get into Law School because they chose a less qualified illegal immigrant” or "Illegal immigrants moved into my neighborhood and have set up open air drug markets." Please refrain from comments like: ‘my tax dollars…’ I think we can all agree that much of your tax dollars are spent in ways that in no way benefit you. Please limit responses to actual encounters and not statistical rhetoric. -
That's exactly what I'm trying to say here. This whole country is going to hell in a handbasket. It all started with the whole sexual liberation and free love thing back in the 60s and 70s. I wasn't around back then, but from what I've heard it was just a bunch of damn hippes getting high and having sex. Great; well due to that, extramarital affairs became more common, and people stopped taking marriage so seroiusly and the divorce rate went up. As well, when people are all hopped up on marijuana and lsd and stuff, there's no telling what they'll do. That's probably how the whole gay revolution started as well. A bunch of damn hippies and their drugs. So now we've got a divorce problem and an aids problem. well since everybody is hopped up on everything and having sex with everybody there's an aids and domestic voilence epidemic. And children having sex as young as nine years old. What's with that? I'm just wondering what's next? Where do we go downhill from here? How much worse can we get? How can we stop this national moral decay? Are you serious? Did people actully teach you that or did you think of it all on your own?

I definitly erred in not putting neither as an option. I didn't think both was relevent because I felt that for an issue to demand a Constitutional Ammendment then it must be pressing issue that actully effects the electorate and not just a political tool. neither - 1 (it's not a real issue OR it is but doesn't warrant a Constitutional Amendment for either positions); 2 (it's not a ploy, the admin is sincere) Both - the poll responder considers it a real issue requiring a Const Am. However, the poll rsponder doesn't consider the Admin to be sincere and it's really a ploy that just happens to align with their view. I think it's a ploy that happens to align with the admins real position - i.e., the timing is a ploy, but it's on the agenda. I do think it's an issue to be addressed, but a CA is way over the top. Personally - I'd just as soon that the religious term 'marriage' wasn't used at all in governmental contractual issues that result in administrative payouts to a certain demographic. (i.e., government stay out of all partnering agreements, but if they must, make a VERY short list of administrative benefits to accrue to civil unions and then let anybody apply for it - kind of a boiler plate for a will and power of attorney - nothing else.) Well said.

My fault. I always forget about the Air Craft Carrier: 'Mission Accomplished.' How many people have died since we declared victory? How exactly have we liberated the Iraqi people? How are they (by they I mean those who aren't dead) better off today then they were three and a half years ago? What has been accomplished? Do you have any idea how contradictory your statements are? You are advocating suspending freedom so that we can better teach to the rest of the world how to be free. When was the last time a gay person had a negative effect on YOUR life? Why do you care what other people do with their lives? Is your life that boring that you have to worry about things that don't effect you? Did gay people get billions of dollars in government subsidies only to jack up gas prices? Typically people hate and discriminate against other groups because of two things: -The discriminated group has an attribute that the biggot is jealous of and wishes they could incorporate into their life. The biggot is ashamed of their true nature and acts out hostilly towards the group rather than facing him/herself. -The discriminated group displays an attribute that the biggot has in his/her own life and is wishes they could change. Rather than fixing the problem, the biggot ignores his/her problem and condems another group for displaying the same trait. There's a direct correrlation between racism and education, or a lack there of. As one becomes more educated they stop blaming others for their own shortcommings, what's more they develop the skills and tools to improve their shortcomings rather than wasting their time condeming another. I'd say your views fit the textbook definition of a terrorist pretty well: terrorist - a radical who employs terror as a political weapon; often uses religion as a cover for terrorist activities

Personally I think the house and the Senate's time would be better spent focussing on issues like the Iraq, skyrocketing fuel prices, and the continued oppression of civil liberties. But that's just me.

Sounds like Sen Schumer has a good case of libel or defamation against the Comptroller. Where's the actual threat Columbo?

Thanks. For the most part users access via dot net pages. The most POSSIBLE synchronous connections would be 120 via web server, but a realistic max number would probably be more like 20-30 at peak times. The largest active table has approx 35K rows. At any given time there might be 65% reads and 35% writes. Most of the user queries are pretty simple.

According to your profile, you have the disadvantage of actually living in a place(NYC) that puts you in contact with different people on a regular basis. So naturally you've developled some misguided impressions of these people by actually getting to know them. That's probably your biggest mistake. What you need to do is develop all your oppinions about others by what you see on TV. That way you'll have a better understanding of the people at large, rather than the skewed perception you've gotten from comming in contact with them.

They developed all kinds of advanced math and algebra. Fucking ignorant barbarians. All muslims are like those on the CNN. Just like all whites that don't live in major cities are racist white trash like those beating their half drunk pregnant wives on cops right?
