  2. "you're a weenie" "i am not the weenie! you are the weenie!"
  3. My Best Friend's Wedding. Piece. Of. Shit.
  4. And Illinois absolutely pounded Michigan (I was at that game)! so therefore...
  5. Wow... Aren't these 777s (and therefore, their engines) relatively new? Is it odd to have something like this happen on such a new plane?
  6. Thanks for all the advice. There is no noise, which is why my friend told me he thinks its the starter. Getting a book on the car is a good idea...I will definitely look into that.
  7. Hey all, I'm not the most mechanically inclined person, and I did a quick google search but didn't find much of use. My girlfriend's '01 trailblazer won't start, and from what a friend of mine that knows things about cars tells me, it's the starter that isn't working (when you turn the key it doesnt turn over - nothing happens but all the lights, radio, etc work without a problem). The battery is fairly new so I don't think that's the problem. Luckily, sharing the same alley where the car sits in our garage is a garage that fixes cars. I am about to go over there and ask them to fix it but i wanted to know if anyone could give me a ballpark figure of what to expect. From what i saw the parts cost 80-100 bucks, so what is reasonable in terms of labor? Thanks in advance!
  8. i have all 3 systems (yeah, im a nerd) and by far my favorite is the xbox 360.
  9. I recommend renting Dirt or the road equivalent whose name escapes me. actually, on second thought, if this is your first new/current gen system, one of the nice things is the ability to download demos. Download a few and see what you like!
  10. What on Earth is a toddling town? Chicago is..duh.
  11. Bill...I am curious as to what you define as 'an excessive desire for wealth'. Is selling something for market value demonstrating 'an excessive desire for wealth'? If you invent something that is revolutionary for other than monetary reasons (solving a problem, just pops into your head as a product of experience in a field, etc) and the invention is worth billions - and you take the first offer you get without 'trying' to get more - is that excessive desire for wealth? I'd say the fact you're selling shows an interest in making a profit on your design even if it was accidental - i don't know i'd call it excessive. Or is that the 'or something' catch-all?
  12. We're halfway theeeeeeereee!!
  13. You could shovel snow! Well, there's a ton of stuff to do in terms of museums and other attractions. Obviously, there's getting good pizza and stuff like that.
  14. Up here in Evanston (where I work) it's stopped snowing but it's pretty bad everywhere. I'm just glad that I take the el and don't have to worry about driving.
  15. Just north of Wrigley field here - snowing at a decent clip...i could believe 5 or so inches if it continues like this all night but it's not as hard as it was coming down the other night.
  16. I'm surprised that by now they don't have a politicians' wing in prison in Illinois.
  17. It sure is fun being an observer in Chicago. The thing I find surprising isn't that Blago was crooked, it's that he was so brazenly stupid about it. Seeing some of the quotes from the tapes mentioned in the various articles, I was amazed by the sheer arrogance. We were discussing this at work yesterday (I am also privileged to live in Chicago and have a front-row seat to this whole mess) and we just couldn't believe how either just flat out stupid or arrogant he was - he knew he was being investigated and didn't stop to think or maybe just didn't care about the fact that he was replacing a man who is at the epicenter of the news world at the moment. Ya think maybe people might be paying attention to who you chose and how you went about that????
  18. Basically - they did that on the simpsons where Homer tried to get disability by gaining weight.
  19. Hey everyone, Don't know if this has been posted yet.... http://blog.wired.com/cars/2008/12/canadas-high-co.html Now I understand if there are people with disabilities that may require extra attention or special circumstances. But with regard to fat people - it's simple -- you put in less food in your mouth, and you will not be as big!
  20. I don't know much about the neighborhoods directly west south or south/west of the Loop (downtown). I live in Wrigleyville/Lakeview and I love it. It's too bad you're coming in the dead of winter because it gets pretty crazy in the summer with all of the street festivals and the Cubs.
  21. I just watched a rather bad movie called "Wanted" with Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie, set in "Chicago". The most recent "Batman" was there too, as well as "The Blues Brothers". I think the same people who learn their history from Hollywood also learn their geography the same way. You mean the concept of being able to bend a bullet as if it was a curveball did not appeal to you????? I liked that Batman used Chicago as Gotham. If only the El worked as well as the public transport shown in the movie....
  22. When is this 6 week period going to be?
