  1. Why would you want to swoop it? ----> bored with accuracy (235 main), want to try swooping (with 143) I see you are a SL instructor though. -----> until last year… tired looking for new recruits here in our place… people are so negative here… thinking they might die or break a bone. Hhehe for now, I’m happy flying a Sony TRV418. I'm guessing if you're planning a wing loading of 1.4 on a Low perocity 7 cell as a swooping canopy...... well...... I'm guessing.... ------> yes you’re right… but with your advice… though I’m a risk taker… just thinking twice… but there’s this website: https://www.square1.com/Catalog/ … still need advice with anyone who got experience swooping this canopies… Isn't there any way for you to lay hands on a used Sabre 1 150 or something? Or a Triathlon, if you prefer a 7-Cell? -----> can’t find anyone here using these canopies… though I know some jumpers in northern part in our country (the rich people) who got sabres. If there was in here, I’d try it.
  2. anyone here tried to swoop this? wingloading 1.4 to 1.5 ...F111. techniques? do's and dont's? comments highly appriciated...
  3. i can't afford to buy those Vcams mentioned here... i bought Sony TRV418 (oooh, heavy but satisfied) cost me $463 brand new, made my own ring sight which only cost me $23... and protec... wow, those camera you mentioned here are so small... i saw one here in our place, a german skydiver who jumped together with his jump buddies... tried it on the groud... it's so light! and the ring sight has this cross like... i don't know how to describe it... im too ignorant for this. hehhe
  4. i fly a sony TRV418 mounted to steel plate flatform (which make it heavy for me) stable arch position, CHIN TOUCHING CHEST, deploy pilot chute... i don't know if anyone here is using this technique (top mounted)
  5. april of 2004 i quit! ... i only lack 6 more flying hours to qualify for CPL here in our country, the Philippines. it was always my dream to be a pilot... but when i got into this sport in 2000 out of curiousity, got addicted with it despite using condemned canopy with a capewell cutaway system and a dive exit on my 1st S/L jump and encountered terrible line twists... curse??? not until april 2004, i decided not to renew my PPL... but 6 more flying hours????????? yes dear.... i exit.... you're right... i;m never going back to that boring life. well, often times i missed flying but skydiving is different... do you feel the same way??? if i were to choose of getting sponsor again to continue my flying AND skydiving using old equipments?... i'd risk my life skydiving... that's how i feel for now... of course, my family is always my priority... and GOD as always on top of everything else... i will be more happy if i'll be given a work in a full time DZ... i don't care if i work as a waiter, janitor, dishwasher, gardener... whatever.. i'm a Philippine Citizen and i am hardworking!!! im poor and i skydive! Blue ones!
  6. adrenalinejunki---> i did my first camera jump with my Sony TRV418: own designed belly mount on my 14th (FOURTEENTH) jump and on a protec (i rigged it my self and made my rignsight on my own) on my 15th (FIFTEENTH) jump. now, i have 116 total. i admit the first time i used it, my neck hurt a little bit. but used to it now... you might be wondering... im from philippines... no license here, though there are very very very few locals who are holder of USPA License who are in the northern part of our country. they are rich guys so they can afford getting USPA Lic and buying good gears. regarding altimeter, the first time i used altimeter was on my 14th jump which was also the first time i used videocam on belly... not good coverage... very limitted. ... sometimes, when jumping at 5,000 ft, i don't use altimeter... mental counting works for me... maximum of fast 20 second count.. and deploy. yes, you can do whatever you want here (regarding skydiving). we don't look for lic before one can jump. or no altimeter or aad's. one may even jump with condemned parachutes or paracommanders and other round mains... we only forbid barefoot and naked skydiving. but if i was there.. i'd follow rules and regulations in your country. RINGSIGHTS everyone!
  7. SANDUGO FESTIVAL on 3rd week of July (yearly) Tagbilan City, Bohol Province, Philippines ---street party and mardi gras... cheap beers--- ---cheap hotels around the city, may choose to stay at Panglao Island's beach resorts--- SoutEastAsianGames on November (this year only) Cebu Province, Philippines (Host Country for the event) anyone interested to jump with any of this event??? or plan your jump here for next year on SINULOG FESTIVAL: 3rd Sunday of January, yearly. one of the biggest event on central part of the country. BLUE ONES!!! skylee_swoop@yahoo.com
  8. thanks guys... have to put back the round again... thanks...
  9. i think he's still there... is he the one who operates tropical asia parachute center?... i think this is the guy... any plans coming back here in philippines??? our DZ is in Cebu Province... it's situated in mactan cebu international airport... tower limits up to 10,000 ft only. sad thing is... too traffic! most of the time, we fly almost one hour before jumping... traffic!!! we can't find other place to jump with no traffic... though we have jumped in CAMOTES ISLAND (familiar with the place) nice place to jump, no traffic but the bad thing is we pack under the SUN! there are no covered area, no trees or whatsoever. adding the fact that we're using old canopies. hehehhe...
  10. it's a 143 sqft main made of F-111. it's has only 3 jumps as main last year. i appriciate all your concerns. our club also has an old rig with 5cell reserve used as main. it has been jump in late 90's and just last year, it has been jumped by FIRST TIME JUMPERS. it was fine. the openning was good, landing was smooth considering it was their first jump. the set up was S/L, of course the pilot chute is of spring type, but it never occured to have any line overs. the briddle was shortened a few inches. if i were to decide, i wouldn't allow it to be used for student or in freefall. but we can't do nothing, we have old parachutes (condemned) but we love to fly it anyways. yes, im from Philippines. Filipino Skydivers with USPA liscense do follow rules and regulation from USPA. But there are very very few of them here. those who JUST skydive, that includes me, don't care if i borrowed rig with round reserve or no AAD or no altimeter or no helmet. as long as the parachute is still flyable, we will jump it. My first jump: condemned 9cell main F111 material, round reserve, no helmet, no altimeter. it was a S/L jump but i did dive exit on a 206. does this happen there in USA? like they say: filipino skydivers are very risk takers. one more question: do you anyone who made their first video coverage mounted on helmet on their 15th jump??? if there's one, im happy that im not the only one who did it. My point is: jumping here in our place is not a problem....yes, it's crazy... well, we only forbid NAKED SKYDIVING. LOL guys, i still need MORE of your comments and suggestions. Thanks! Safe Landings!
  11. [replyI do, but nothing I would give to someone - they are all either in an unknown state or so ragged out that they're unsafe. I'll look through my rigging boxes for pilot chutes though. it doesn't matter if it's unsafe. personally, i jump condemned Unit and Strato Cloud in our club, considering many holes and hand sewn patches, it still is flyable. i really appreciate you guys for replying. Safe Landings!
  12. [replyAnd just what club would that be? Cebu Sport Parachute Club here in Cebu, Philippines. You may check my personal web at www.skyswoop.cjb.net it's so sad we can't but new models... the fact that our chutes were just donated, and we're still using Unit canopies for student's use. still round reserves and no AAD. sad but true. personally, i get addicted with this sport. I jump with condemned Units and stratos. heheheh... so, if you guys might visit here, take a look at our gears and if you dare to jump with it, better. oh, we also have 1 paracommander that CAN be use. (the landing hurts!)
  13. regardless the # of my landings, the first and last bad landing was actually my first parachute landing. before i got back on my second jump a year later, i used to practice in an escalator... imagining myself when to flare... at what height... sometime that year, i run down stairs and AGAIN imagining my self on a parachute ride for landing... it was a good mental excersise... it worked for me... my second and until now, i land soflty... considering my wingload at 1.4 for 7cell F-111 material. VIDEO is also good... debrief with the best canopy pilot in your DZ... simulate your self (mental exercise) BLUE ONES!
  14. not being used... would appriciate it much if you donate it with our small club. anyone who have extra pilot chutes... we need it too. anyone who is interested to HELP... please e-mail skylee_swoop@yahoo.com blue ones!
  15. replacing round reserve with a 7cell made of F-111 material. still using spring type PC and not free bag... what do you think??? NEED YOUR ADVICE... or any experience??? THANKS MUCH!
  16. my first honda XLR200 ex-girlfriends cutting classes (thanks GOD i graduated anyways) budget for breakfast and snacks (water helps) gave up my flight training (16 hours to go for CPL) oboi... what else will i give up?
  17. everytime i openned my chute, the video seems to skip for a second... why is this? is there anything i can do to make a smooth coverage during the openning? i'm using a Sony TRV418 mounted on protec. advise please..... Lee
  18. im from philippines... i wish we have VWT here too... for me to know some moves in VWT, can you send me your CD's? (i wish you would) so i may also collect them from you guys. for my address here, e-mail me skylee_swoop@yahoo.com BLUE SKIES & CHECK PINS! Lee www.skyswoop.cjb.net
  19. yeah... that's what i was praying before... any plans of you guys visiting our country? search CEBU, PHILIPPINES... BLUES!!! ***wake me up! wake me up! my chute won't open!
  20. GeordieSkydiver... here in our place it doesn't matter.... as long as JM's observes you're good... i did first video jump on my 14th... designed my belly mount. and on my 15th jump... i did my first jump video mounted on helmet... it did great... get a good coach. it's a risk that i know of... made my own ringsight and camera flatform... see pics. i now have 66 jumps and non of those jumps i missed to video. GET A GOOD COACH... but you know... since you're there... you should follow regulations there in your place. ***wake me up! wake me up! my chute won't open!
  21. since buying ringsight is expensive... i just made it my self... acrylic and rod. got no problem with snagging. my video is cheap... sonny TRV418. look at my chincup... LOL... so far... it did great. atleast my friends appreciated my work. ***wake me up! wake me up! my chute won't open!
