  1. I'd definitely like my Sabre 2 to open a little faster. I don't want to try to not quarter the slider, I think that would give an asymetric, off-heading opening (?)
  2. Do you know when the DVD will be ready?
  3. http://www.thatvideosite.com/video/4032 Emo explanation
  4. Does this change with age? When I was in college and tried to start up conversations with girls, about 90% of them were very cold to me. I eventually gave up. It still seems weird to just strike up a conversation with a random person.
  5. I don't really understand what "approachable" means. It's not like you can just randomly walk up to a woman and start talking to her. Do some people do that?
  6. I want to bump this up, last weekend I was inspecting a rig with these risers, the loop went through the RSL ring. Be careful. That was the 3rd 3-ring/loop I've found misrouted in the past 12 months.
  7. Possibly, but not in my experience. On the busiest days where I'd make $250-300, TI's would make $500+ and the vidiots would be getting $800+ Actually pretty consistently, whether it'd be a busy day or a slow day, the packers were always the least paid (except for AFF instructors, but this was a tandem factory DZ). Maybe I just had a bad experience. Still even though I don't make much money doing AFF, I'd never go back to packing because at least with AFF, I actually get to SKYDIVE, which is what it's all about.
  8. I would love to see someone do a neat flat pack in the same amount of time or faster than a neat pro pack on a small sport canopy. I'm not saying they can't do it, I've just never seen it. I've tried flat packing my canopy a lot but just can't seem to get good at it. The only thing I feel like I can do a better neat flat pack on are large square F-111's.
  9. Thanks to all those who gave me serious replies.
  10. How many people would you say swoop? Maybe 20% of skydivers? (I don't know, just guessing, at my DZ it's about 10%). So 20% of skydivers making up 58% of canopy collisions?
  11. What about the guys who do several hundred hop and pops to get their tandem rating?
  12. I love skydiving, and love it more and more with each jump. What's gotten old to me is the lifestyle. I can see myself quitting or being much less hardcore because of that. I would like to have some whuffo friends. Maybe even a girlfriend one day.
  13. I am curious if you all think it is possible for a person to significantly or completely change their personality. Is it something that can be changed or is it just a permanent part of you? If someone did try to change it, would that be "phony" of them?
  14. Hmm, well now I do remember I used to pack a Sabre 150 into an OJK, it was tight but not too bad. But if sunpath says you shouldn't then you probably shouldn't.
  15. I asked sunpath that question once, they said no. I've never tried it myself, though.
  16. I practiced some NO LIFT diving last weekend, and true to Cutaway, I ended up DIVING BLIND. I've got an Oxygn and in long steep dives, the wind comes into the small space in the visor, blowing my contacts out, and also there was a lot of water on the lense. I'm not sure if that was from the moisture of my eyes or what... Has anyone else had this happen? I'm ok without my contacts, but with the condensation on my visor, I couldn't see well. I'm glad this wasn't on a bigway.
  17. I haven't been to Barcelona but I did go to Madrid, I loved it, and I'm not a big city person at all. Also Toledo is a day trip from Madrid and worth seeing.
  18. I watched a guy with a 1.9 wingloading have a complete canopy collapse last weekend. Fortunately he was about 10 feet above the ground so he didn't get hurt. If you think a highly loaded canopy will protect you from turblence, think again.
  19. Not the quote, but what about the parachute drawing? This one http://www.circlinghawk.com/davinciParachute.jpg
  20. Doesn't the strong rating require 4 hours of freefall time? That is a prerequisite I see on skydiveratings.com
  21. What is a good way to transition to a head-down/no lift? I don't do any freeflying. I haven't done much head down diving but the few times I've done it, I basically start in a steep delta, building up some speed, then angle my head down and bend foward slightly at the waist, that seems to get me head down. I can't hold it for very long though, before I "cork" back into a delta track.
