If anyone didn't understand what I was saying, it was a joke about the rockclimbing.com argument of whether skydiving is even a sport or not. I don't like to get into the pointless discussion of what is "extreme" or not extreme, because it always just turns into a ridiculous "my sport is more extreme/badass/hardcore/etc. than your's" argument, as we saw on rockclimbing.com.

I'm getting an error on my PC109, every time I turn it on, it says "Reinsert the cassette". This happens with any cassette I use. Anyone know what this is and how it'd be fixed?

Skydiving's not extreme. How can it be extreme when all you do is jump out and pull your string? There's no skill to that. Now rock climbing, that's XTREEME!

Ah, ok. Sorry. I see now how "will expire on" and "has expired" are different. Here's the calendar I was going by. http://www.skydiveorange.com/wenamidoo.aspx

Feb 18 is good, Feb 19, it's expired.

Dave DeWolf was saying that there is a way to take the pin out without opening the container, and he was going to show it at PIA. Did anyone see this presentation? He sort of showed me once but I don't remember it. It involved several pull up cords, a temp pin, and a hemostat.

when you put your pilot chute into it's pouch, do you turn the container upside down and beat on the bottom? That might damage the cypres.

has anyone ever done a helicopter safety briefing?

What about proper exit separation? -
As I understand it, the key is that if you hold the bridle and hang the pilot chute upside down, you need to see that the apex is at the same level, or below the skirt (where the fabric and mesh meet) here's a great thread by Bill Booth about it. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=132976;page=1;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25;

One time I let on a scammer for a while, then said I want him to call me on the phone. I gave him the number of the FBI fraud department. I did not hear back from him after that.

I used to have skydiving dreams a lot my first year or so. I'd always wake up on impact. Now I pretty consistently dream about packing...

good job check out this good article by PD about proper ways to set brakes and stow excess line, to prevent this from happening in the future. http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/ControlSysMalf.PDF

see you there!

Good story. I've never had an issue with my untacked slink tabs sticking out, but you can't be too safe so I guess I'll do it. This'll give me an excuse to use that new roll of super tack I just bought

In a place with no way to hang up a canopy, what is the best method to use to inspect the inside of the canopy? At DeWolf's course, we were taught to pull the cells inside-out and look at it like that, but that drove me nuts, I can't really understand what I'm looking at. Recently I've tried just sticking my head inside and looking around, pulling the fabric towards me until I get to the tail, and also standing on a chair, and looking down at it, and while they both seem ok to check for any obvious damage, I can not really closely examine stitching or fabric weave that way. How do you rigger folk inspect the inside, and how closely do you do it?

You are a gentleman and a scholar - this answer wins.

If you don't use an RSL you are going to die.

I check my altimeter immediately after opening, the pro track deployment altitude seems to match when in the saddle pretty accurately.

Need quick help re: putting new visor on Oxygen

make sure you didn't screw down the plates too tightly, I had the same problem. -
A few days ago, on the drive down to Z hills, I saw an older couple trying to shove a deer into the trunk of there car. Whether they hit it or just found it, I don't know.
-
I arrived at Z hills a few days ago after not being here for nearly a year. One of the first things said to me was, "Welcome home". Everybody still remembered my name. For a large dz it has a very personal small-dz feel. I love it.

I lived in one of the el cheapo 30 dollar wal mart 4-person tents for 6 months and it was worthless in any kind of wind. A light rain is ok, but mix rain and wind, and you're soaked. Heavy rain would flood the inside also, but I couldn't really figure out how. Even a light wind and no rain bugs the crap out of me, I'm up all night listenting to flap flap flap flap. I threw it out and tried another tent, a more simple Swiss Gear "Hiker" tent( 30 dollars at wal mart) It's small and has no tent poles, which is nice, and it's more streamlined so I think it'd help with wind deflection more, but the zipper was broken when I got it, so I still hear the "door" flap flap flap all night. I think I'll have to just got with an actual quality tent for my next one.

I tried half a tea spoon and gave up after 20 seconds, ick....
