While I understand the intentions of the western influence, there are places on the planet that will never accept another religion or a government to replace their preferred flavor. I think most religious followers/believers are rather obsessed with their choice. Maybe the US needs to try other methods of reaching better, more cooperative results of nation building than simply trying to replace them. The US is by no means THE single success and shining beacon of greatness some want to believe it is. Yes, we want better international relations (with most nations), no we do not need to "convert" a nation for them to not want to kill us. The previous efforts seem to have created the opposite results. We could start by teaching actual history again. Including the bits you don't like. *** The situation with Iran had a LOT to do with my decision to join. Weird that I even wrote a paper on it in high school. One of the best grades I received on reports. (I tended not to complete homework or book reports - not on my time!)

Recently chatting with a few Veteran buddies and their thoughts on the oath we took when we entered the service and some feel they are committed to honoring their oath of defending the country. Some Vets very well may be struggling with the deep commitment they feel to that oath and how it might be needed in the future. Times I never expected to consider living in America.
