    I am 6ft ~180lbs and avg about 160 in shorts/t-shirt in a neutral sit and about 155 in a jumpsuit according to various people's pro-tracks. You should be able to go faster... and if not, we can always go track. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

    So is Brush open again? I didn't get a chance to jump there in the winter before it closed. I've jumped at Skip's out of Randy's KA and had a great time! Sure you probably won't make 10 jumps a day (even if Skip wakes you up with his cutting edge static line instruction at 8am ) but it was certainly fun and they and everyone there was totally cool and down-to-earth, not a skygod in sight.     Very busy and included jumps from a Casa, Kingairs, a DC3, a Carvair, Skyvans, Otters, and a C206 at 4 or 5 different dropzones. Mostly FF with a bunch of H&Ps, a few tracking dives, and some RW jumps in there. Also did my first Stiletto jump loaded at just under 1.4... That rocked!!! NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

    Even if there is no driver installed you should still get the device notification balloon which prompts you to install the driver when you plug it in, in addition to the little beep/bong sound. When you have the cam plugged into the computer check in device manager to see if there are any "unknown devices" present. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

    I'd just shelve it and buy a used Stilleto or something. Plus the holiday boogie is on the horizon and hopefully PD will have their canopy auction again. In the meantime you can demo tons of stuff from Square2 or request some other cool demos from other manufacturers. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

    A lot of people that write the "this is the best rig/dz/canopy/whatever" reviews often have not been to/jumped/worn much else. You have to decide which one you like either by demoing or borrowing gear. I could try to tell you the Mirage is "better" but I have never jumped an Icon so my opinion isn't worth much. I can attest to the quality of the Mirage though, I am very happy with mine, and I have jumped a bunch of different rigs. Another thing to consider is resale value and Mirages are great in that respect. Only time will tell regarding the Icons since there haven't been many used ones on the market yet.     you'll be fine with 2 carry-ons... I recently did 2 suitcases checked with a rig and camera gear as carry-on no prob. I did have to gate check my rig for a recent CRJ flight since the overhead is very limited on the tiny commuter planes. I fly United all the time and have had no hassles at all. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

    My preference is a tight knee lock. Let the rear float jumper rotate slightly back on exit so as to orient properly into the relative wind and as you clear the hill you can build that visual of horizon and keep your eyes on the other jumper for hand signals. Break off is a quick nod and you shouldn't go very far from each other. Train exits are fun but are a lot more work IMHO, plus there is no eye contact and break off is often sudden. When I was working on solos I'd freefly the exit usually or just exit with my back to the relative wind in a sit. Cheers. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

    The Fusion, Nitro, and Nitron all have stock HMA linesets, that's kind of an unfair discriminator for the "stock" class IMHO. I would be interested in a non-x-brace class of swoop-comps in the future though and it would set the stage for the next-gen of swoopers to start working on their skills. It would be awesome to see some people going big under their Stilettos, Samurais, Crossfires, etc... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

    Personally, I'd just get smaller canopies and keep the container. But that's just me. Even with my PD176R in an M5 I have had one repack that looked like absolute crap and another one that looked perfect (I have the original reserve PC still). Oddly enough the first one was the more experienced rigger. So, obviously rigger skill and/or attention to bulk management makes a big difference since my last two repacks were like night and day. With my next rig purchase I definately won't be getting something Mirage lists as "snug" for the reserve container. My M5 with a 175 main and 176 reserve is pretty snug as is, I can't believe you shoe-horn bigger canopies in there. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

    Not directed at anyone but everyone needs to stop "helping" this guy, he needs to talk to his instructors about his student gear immediately so as to avoid further confusion. Trying to explain the in and outs of RSLs, SOS, Skyhook, etc should be left for later in his progression and will accomplish nothing more then to further muddy the waters. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

    that's just silly... set them to the same warning altitudes... even the SIM recommends two for freeflying, freestyle, etc... I've been meaning to buy one for the other ear for redundancy for a while now, I just haven't got around to it. I use the breakoff, pull, and get your head-out-of-your-ass warning strategy for the beeps and it seems to work great (for freeflying). NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
