  1. ah, and isn´t it nice to have such a variety of possibilities while ground launching. i think that´s fantastic and both of the "situations" are really fun to perform.
  2. you´re right, but WHAT makes the difference? is ist the inclination, the canopy, the winds? IMO it´s mainly due to the inclination. i know the location of the "flying" situation 1 video and it´s reallly incredibly steep.
  3. if you want reliable VISO updates just send a mail to l&b. they have a great (potential) customer service and will mail you back with reliable info´s. i´m also burning and waiting...
  4. we use it in the military for small and alpine landing zones. we can put 8 jumpers without problems in it. needs a very short landing and starting strip. perfect for fast and uncomplicated jumps. also jumped the oldest still flying porter on a french dropzone in morocco: tuned by icarius-planes this baby brought 9 jumpers to 4200m in less than 9minutes!! fantastic!
  5. check this out: http://www.dropzone.tv/ IMO this is what ground-launching should look like! by the way: it´s been made in Tirol / Austria. nevertheless i liked the speed-riding video very much. i´ve made very similar flight experiences when using an old sucked-out Merit 170 on not-so-steep slopes. it´s pretty fun: you ski down, more sitting than standing and on every jump it lifts you off the ground from 5secs to 30secs, depending on the wind and inclination.
  6. hm. i like http://www.stormgrass.com pretty much. "The excitement of boredom"... that says it all... and www.fazed.net, but it´s not a blog.
  7. I just read in the French Forum that Val Montand died last week-end. no more info´s given. Does anyone know more???
  8. damn... i wish we had some sky-girls like you in austria... but we DO actually have SKI-chicks... not quite SKY-chicks, but what do i know...

  11. don´t think so . the l&b guy told me that they are getting the altitrack market ready right now. that´s also the reason for the viso delay.
  12. hehe, welcome to the great world of internet-forums... but let me point out, that incidents are really discussed on a high niveau with much respect to everyone concerned on dropzone.com. compared to other, similar internet-forums, that is.
  13. got a mail from l&b saying that it will be 2 - 3 months till VISO release...

  18. i was travelling from austria to morocco via germany with my rig. i decided to take it as hand luggage, without any backpack or something. in austria no problems at all at the airport. the guys on the x-ray were curious what a parachute looked like and everything was fine. nobody noticed the cypres or even the hook knife. so i wanted to proceed the same way in germany... ERROR. as soon as i pronounced the word parachute they told me that it was forbidden to take parachutes as a handluggage. i had to convince 3 different security instances before they finally told me that the pilot has the last decision. pilot said yes, the german FAA said no, i flew with my rig. on the way back i simply put the rig in a small backpack. nobody on the x-ray noticed that it was a parachute, the cypres, or again, the hook knife...
