Find a place that sells paraphernalia for a College or Pro Football team. They might have a Logo flask for sneaking some adult beverages into the game.

Who's going to be the next College Football team to fall from the ranks of the undefeated? Oklahoma has to play Oklahoma State this weekend and Texas A&M next weekend. On Nov 13th, Auburn plays Georgia, Miami plays Virginia, and Wisconsin has to play Michigan State. Or will somebody lose to a completely unexpected opponent? This year could provide the biggest assault on the BCS system yet.

I've used Bittorrent to download Linux CDs. This is completely legal, and is a great way to download a few Gig of data, while legally sharing out with others while you download. But be careful using Bittorrent to download copyrighted material such as music or movies. Most Bittorrent clients will automatically share out the download you are accessing. The MPAA and the RIAA ARE going after people they catch sharing out their copyrighted material using the Bittorrent client. I like Bittorrent, and it is one of the few P2P clients that has fostered a base of legal P2P uses with it's application to distributing various Linux and other GNU material. But it still has the same risks with the RIAA and MPAA as other P2P clients when it comes to copyrighted material.

What can we do about Skyride?
DontPanic replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I was following through on the links pilotdave posted earlier in this thread, and I came across this gem in one of their FAQs at: http://www.skydivems.com/mississippi_skydiving_questions.html -
This doesn't seem like a very good start for someone who is studying to be a lawyer.

A few other tips and tricks. You can type: rpm -qa | grep samba to see if you have the samba packages installed. Since this is Redhat, the keyboard commands for starting samba are probably in /etc/init.d/ So you can type: /etc/init.d/smb status to see if the samba daemon is running. You can type: /etc/init.d/smb start to start samba, and... /etc/init.d/smb stop to stop samba. Let us know if you are using KDE or Gnome or just trying to do this from shell commands. KDE or Gnome will each have graphical samba configuration tools, or you can install SWAT ('rpm -qa | grep swat' to see if it is installed) to manage Samba from a web browser. Or you can use the How-To Aggiedave refers to for setting it up manually.

Which way should your closing pin point on your neck?
DontPanic replied to cvfd1399's topic in The Bonfire
It's easy! Left is right! Right is Wrong! (At least that works for ear rings). -
Hhhhhmmm, funny you should throw in here. If A&M takes care of Oklahoma, half my issues with the BCS this year will be taken care of. Then, all I need is one more team to take care of either USC or Miami.

I ran across this story on ESPN.net regarding the remaining undefeated teams, and what they each have ahead of them. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1903807 Both Oklahoma and Miami have two ranked teams each left to play. And I think Oklahoma will have to play a conference championship, but I could be confused about that. I'm tempted to come up for the Georgia game whether or not I have tix, but I'll have to wait and see. So far, I don't feel like the BCS has broke when it came to sorting out undefeated teams, although it has come close on several years. Last year, it had trouble with the teams with one loss, which is another issue. But I guess there will be a few more teams I'll be interested in watching over the next few weekends until this sorts itself out.

I got Tix for next weeks game. I'll be up there with a group of friends from work. I hope the Arkansas/Matt Jones jinx doesn't bite us on the butt again.

6'4" But that's going to go down unless I learn to pack a softer opening.

It's just not a proper AU vs LSU game without a certain amount of freakyness and/or controversy (such as the year the AU campus was burning down in the background while we played the game). I guess when it turned out that Ivan wouldn't cancel the game, they had to come up with a 'Plan B' to inject the proper amount of strangeness for the series. I bet we missed that first extra point on purpose, because the game was coming to a close, and we didn't have anything controversial yet.

I'm cross-posting the message I received from the rworg mailing list regarding some news on Gold Coast...

Does anyone have any idea how the Emerald Coast DZ came out? I heard Lillian suffered a good deal of damage.

Bah! I have no electricity, but I guess I'm lucky, I still have water and phone service. I'll be lucky if I get power back in a week, but Alabama Power won't give us a better date than Sept 29th.
-
I'll be riding this one out in Mobile also. Let me know if y'all need anything after the storm.

What? You don't recognize me from my resemblence to my thumbnail avatar?!? Oh well, so much for hoping the whipped cream in the eyes would keep you from recognizing me.

Congratulations to RkyMtnHigh on her 100th. We were alittle late at properly recognizing the event, as her 100th jump was actually a week or so ago. She may have been hoping we'd forget, but we finally got around to the official ceremony.

Just make sure they're ZP. F-111 doesn't work worth crap.

Did you try alcohol before you were legally old enough?
DontPanic replied to Shotgun's topic in The Bonfire
It was much more fun when I was illegal. -
Heck, I'm 41 years old, and I was afraid to tell my Dad. I finally figured I had better tell him since he was wondering why he was always having trouble calling me on weekends. He didn't try to ground me,

CNN story - South African skydiver mishap survived!
DontPanic replied to peacefuljeffrey's topic in The Bonfire
Similar response at my office. Given all the strange and fascinating skydiving stories I've read about in these forums, I'm alittle mystified how CNN picked this one out as worthy of worldwide attention. -
I've just finished the static line course, and am diligently working on my A-license requirements. The way the courses are structured at my home DZ, when you "graduate" from AFF or the tandem progression, you have more skills than the person who "graduates" from the static line class. The assumption seems that the static line graduates will get coach jumps as needed to attain their A-license. Although I'm not there yet, I think that everything will just about even out for the person that follows through to their A-license. I had a choice of Static Line, AFF, or Tandem Progression at our DZ. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably pick AFF. But I'm glad I just picked one, and moved forward. And based on my experiences, I certainly wouldn't go as far as to say "static line sucks", although I can understand how some people would find one program or the other is much better suited for them. When I look back now, I had so many misconceptions about what was involved in each program, I'm just glad I made a choice and went ahead.

I know I'm just a newbie, but if helping the Florida Skydiving Center at Lake Wales can merit front-page-center attention on the dz.com homepage, I don't think it's outrageous to post an update on the Joan Meadow indicent. Personally, I've been keeping an eye open for an update, and I'm glad to hear Joan is doing better.

That'll be cool. I was getting worried about bending myself in half to try to keep up with you guys.
