1. Never under any circumstances take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night. 2. Remembering Saturday Looking back on Saturday brings back memories, of challenger and makes me look back on my interest of space fight over the years. I remember being in the second grade having my teacher explaining the “new” space shuttle going up that day. I listened with intrigue on how this new plane would go in to space and come back down without a parachute. That sparked my interest with space flight. Over the years I followed the shuttle program and learned as much as I could and even as far as writing NASA about the program. I was surprised to receive a large package from them with books on the shuttle. Soon after wards I was in class in the seventh grade watching the TV in class, watching the first teacher in space. We saw the explosion, and soon realized what had happened. I was glad to see when the program got back up in the sky. Over the next few years I got distracted by teenage things but always kept up with the program. In the past eight years I have watched launches when I could, ran out side when sightings of the orbiter or ISS were available. I have also watched five reentries and filmed one (last march), this past Saturday I stayed up all night waiting on seeing the reentry that morning. I did my usual timing watching the orbital tracks, waiting I kept a constant eye on the TV as the orbiter crossed the pacific. getting ready until it got over Texas when it did I went out side and waited. “It should be over in a minuet or two,” I thought to myself as I have done times before. Minuets passed and no sign of the orbiter. I thought it might not be visible because of the light so I waited for the double sonic boom, more minuets passed. I decide to go back inside to check if it had passed already and the phone rang. My friend called and said that the orbiter was missing. My heart sank” not again” I thought to my self. I spent the rest of the day scanning the TV, Internet and radio. It is a day that I will not forget. The world lost seven astronauts and I hope we never lose any more. Space is a world all its own, it sparks imagination wonder and the need for exploration yet it is an unforgiving place. Those who reach for it go knowing they may never come back yet go anyways. Fly high astronauts and may the stars be yours. if my calculations are correct SLINKY + ESCULATOR = EVERLASTING FUN my site

High FLight Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth, and danced the skies on laughter silver wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the mirth of sun split clouds..and done a hundred things you have not dreamed of..wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wing along, and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air. I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace where never lark or even eagle flew. And while with silent, lift-mind, I've trod the untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand, and touched the face of God. if my calculations are correct SLINKY + ESCULATOR = EVERLASTING FUN my site

Laurel Clark, 41, was a diving medical officer aboard submarines and then a flight surgeon before she became an astronaut in 1996. She had been on board Columbia to help with science experiments. "I think my family has a fairly practical and pragmatic view of this whole thing, and that's that the actual launching into space is much more dangerous than any of the other security concerns," said Clark, who lived in Racine, Wis., and was married with an 8-year-old son. She added: "There's a lot of different things that we do during life that could potentially harm us and I choose not to stop doing those things." blue skies. if my calculations are correct SLINKY + ESCULATOR = EVERLASTING FUN my site
