Here's another question. Does anyone remember the 10 way video of the James Gang doing a multi-point 10 way? Nothing special about that ordinarily. However, this was the 70's and, unlike today, most shots were exclusively film. If I recall, it showed a 10 way round that broke into two 5-ways. One 5-way then flew over and docked slot perfect on the on the other 5-way. Pretty hot for the time! Before I went to law school, I "knew" my rights. Most folks in the US don't realize that their rights are built upon a 200 year history of Supreme Court decisons or laws passed, ignored and finally reviewed by the Supremes. Right to an attorney? Hah, not before the mid 20th century (early 60's or so). Equal rights (hell, choose your poison - sex, religion, handicap, schooling, voting, etc.) 60's again or even later! Miranda warning? You had the right to a hollywood style good cop bad cop interview. Who were you trying to kid 40 years ago! Hell, until the 60's, a cop could basically tear your car apart from end to end without probable cause. Warrants? Uhh, welcome to the mid 20th century for regular folks. So, you might ask, what am I driving at? Until I read this post, I never paid attention to those last 10 words of the 1st Amendment (which BTW, weren't passed until 1789 and ratified in 1791). "...and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." This was not covered in law school. I challenge any law school grads to even recall if it was mentioned, much less discussed!
