  1. Not to mention Bart selling his soul to Milhouse for $5. "Anytime ChummmmmmmP". Spent the rest of the episode trying to get it back, tried to buy Ralph's, etc. Best lines: Jimbo Jones when Bart can't breath on the glass-- "Way to breathe, no breath!" Rod and Todd to the auto-opening door at the Quickee-Mart-- "Thank you door!" (Ok, Simpsons can be an obsession. I'll stop now.)
  2. Very nice, thanks!! Seeing that quite a few of the early 70s ones had the cover oriented 'landscape' mode, was the magazine actually bound like that on the shorter side? Or was it bound 'normal' on the longer side, but just the photo/title are rotated that way?
  3. David Lee Roth's fecal matter is $33?!?! I'll assume for now by "fecal matter" they mean any of his solo CDs. Jacked up price I'd say. You can usually get them for about $10 at best buy.
  4. In case everyone isn't already sick of this movie yet, I've gotta go with "A Christmas Story". (loses the lug nuts) "Oh!! Fudge!! Only I didn't say 'fudge'... I said *the* word. The queen mother of dirty words."
  5. Boxer-briefs. As Cosmo Kramer said: "my boys need a house"
  6. yes HH please. and step on it. i've got this rash i can't wait to ask you all about. and to "kai" glad to hear things are fine. my lawnmowing drink of choice is rolling rock. werks for me. i recommend.
  7. i thought it was 72? or maybe they've gone metric.
  8. d'oh! green on green personal attack. please don't move this to the RB until AggieDave gets a chance to reply.
  9. Pooch seems pretty calm. Looks like this flying dog's been up and down a few times.
  10. But at the time, you were failing to see that we were talking about two different things. Phrasing aside, I expected any reasonable person to get the joke in my reply. Some didn't. My fault. At the time? Darn right I'm not going to let it go if someone goes out of their way to come at me personally. Play the ball, not the man. Fine. I will concede I got a little too worked up and took your personal hacks at me a little too personally. Fact is, for what each of us intended to say, and the level of accuracy inherent in our comments, we were both right. No harm done.
  11. I accept your bar bet. Go ahead and propose a wager. I'll take the meter based on 1/10mill distance between pole and equator, and you take the meter based on 1/10mill the earth's circumference. Should be fine by you. You're the one that said I was wrong on that exact same question, right? As for all of your "precisely" whatever. Well, duh! That's the part you added, and I never said. (Nice debate technique by the way.) Of course the metric system is as arbitrary as any other. Some find it easier to use. Show me where I ever said otherwise.
  12. kelpdiver said a meter is based on 1/10mill of the earth's circumference. i said it's actually based on 1/10mill the distance between a pole and the equator. i used a winky. he made a little mistake, so what, big deal. He didn't say "precisely" so neither did I. Nor did either of us intend that this was an exact measurement. This is a forum for skydivers, I was trying to keep geodesy out of it. And you have yet to provide a source which says the meter is based on the circumference of the earth, which is all I was saying. As for the rest of your attitude berating me, well, I'll just set that aside, because I prefer rational discourse. (ed. to make my reply shorter, get to the point)
  13. No. It's not! Seriously! Look it up! Huh? You're kidding... Here's the deal (google it if you want): a. the circumference of the earth is just about 40,000km b. a meter is 1/10mill the distance between a pole and the equator This supports the history of how the meter came about: take the distance between a pole and the equator and divide by 10 million. (Not to mention making maps is my profession.) If you still don't agree, please post a source.
  14. Given all of the US's military activity (these past two decades especially) what do you all think about the practicality, morality, multiple benefits, affect on US foreign policy, if the US were to build a Foreign Legion? Possible pros? -More troops/units/equipment for less cost. -Citizenship after a 5-year contract. Plenty of takers there, I'm sure. -Draft no longer need be a consideration. Possible cons? -Encourages even more the use of US force around the world. -Devalues non-American lives even more than some believe Americans already do. -...well, that's all I can think of right now, but those are two pretty f'n big ones. If you google it, there are several points of view on this, so no point in placing clicky's here.
  15. On the planet I'm from, a meter is 1/ten millionth the distance between a pole and the equator.
  16. just a quick side question. how does holding a penny make sure it's you and not a photoshop?
  17. Clay-based cat litter. Even if it's dry, you can really grind it in with the bottom of your boot. Then sweep up, hose off, possibly repeat. Good chance it'll get all or most of it up.
  18. military force is a last resort. SH brought this action on himself. innocents are always affected by war. that's why it should be a last resort. you act as if it was the objective. you really should read up some. when we use it in any other way than self-protection, it too should be taken away. Not my problem you can't handle the truth and can only debate with hyperbole. I chose rational discourse, you chose personal attacks. Therefore my conversation with you has ended. No big loss, I might add.
  19. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should, and just because you should do something doesn't mean you can. So again, it seems you prefer a dictator with a history of wmd, to a democracy where the people control their lives and future. Sweet.
  20. Anyone see that 'HALO School' program on the Military Channel? Curious if anyone knows the approx size (sq ft) of those chutes they use. I figured they've got to be big with that exit weight, equip, etc. But big like 'tandem big' perhaps?
  21. Whoaaa. So each person just "holds" the s/l? i might feel a little better about it if each s/l was clipped to a d-ring on the guy above's harness. Eh, forget it, not sure if i feel better about it even then. Do they just hold the s/l and d-bag all the way down? Or drop it?
  22. Not even close. But if oversimplifying the situation far beyond facts and history keep you bashing the US, then have your fun. The will of the UN was for Iraq to disarm. But you prefer dictators with WMD to a democracy where all participate in guiding their own society? Eh, to each their own. To jump on your bandwagon, you must also ignore the bias of the UN from the bribes taken at the top levels to keep the heat off SH. And oil was also the reason why the UN, France, Germany, and Russia were against military action. Unhealthy eating is one thing that's killing the US from within. Something that's being worked on. No society is perfect. But to you this is worthy of a military invasion? Whatever.
  23. If you threaten us, your region, and the world. Yes.
  24. One could say that the business deals and 10+ figure contracts France, Germany, and Russia had with SH's Iraq caused them to soften their stance on his disarmament, hence selling *us* out, along with selling out the oppressed Kurds and southern Shiites, many slaughtered by SH after the first gulf war. You can say the US was in this for oil (although we haven't stolen any of it in 14 years), but many defenders of SH were doing so for oil too. Thanks a lot "allies".
  25. I'm not an attorney, but if I was a juror in this case, I'd have to say that your side seems reasonable and logical, and their side, while might be technically correct, is full of people wiggling around after the fact. Given everything you said, if you were as candid as you can be about what the other side might have said, I'd be far more likely to side with you on this one. Your story is far more believable. Going after only five weeks pay, you have far less reason to lie than they do. When in doubt, I've got to go with the threat possibly being real and not kidding, and the intent to sign off as being strong even without actual words to that effect.
