"freefall" doesn't have an 'e' at the end of it. maybe he was just trying to be humorous, um, humoUrous... um, funny. wasn't.)

Reminds me of the Simpson's quote: Hypnotist to the softball team- "You will beat Shelbyville" Team in a trance- "We will beat Shelbyville." Hypnotist- "You will give 110%" Team in a show chant- "That's impossible. No one can give more than 100%. By definition, that is the most anyone can give."

On thread topic: Hey, 6,580 misspellers can't be wrong, right? On the other topic: GOD doesn't share your animosity toward Jerreh, or He (She?) woulda plugged the roof hole up by now...

Anyone want to help defend the (relative) safety of our sport?

even then, it's volunteer. even after volunteering to join the military, one must volunteer again for airborne. at least in the US. -
Difference with Bruce is that he's held and voiced these views he's had going all the way back to the first album, and probably before that. Back when he had nothing, and less than nothing. Long before he was wealthy, which of course was not pre-ordained. I disagree with some of his views, but have always been a big fan. I can respect someone's views, even if they're different from mine. He cares, he connects, and he gets people to think. Dialogue is always good, even with (especially with) those with divergent views. On the other hand, those I have little time for are the I-got-mine-hollywood-limosine-liberals. I can no longer mentally distance myself from the Sarandon/Robbins set, their work and their views so I don't support those anymore. They chose to divide their audience. It's not my mind that's closed, it's simply my mind which has analyzed and decided. Would the dixie chicks said what they said at a concert in texas? No. In their case, they were simply pandering to the UK crowd, and we're told at the time like 80% of brits were against military action in iraq. I cannot have any respect for the views of panderers. If you have a set of views which are reasoned, and which you hold and voice regardless of the audience, in front of people who can and can't DO anything for you, then I can respect that. And then *I* can still choose to support that person's work or not. And I am free to have my own reasons. I don't OWE these people a career. That's not censorship. It's just freedom of choice. Maybe when I'm wealthy, I'll be able to afford to be a liberal too.

I'm no weapons expert, but just some thoughts... True, wounded enemy are more logistically draining (good), but then sometimes they can still fight (bad). I can carry 2x as much 5.56 (good), but then I'll probably need to throw twice as much at them (bad). Lots of other vets out here who might agree, but back in my 11B days, I had this uneasy feeling about being told that my enemy would almost certainly have 7.62 while I had my trusty M-16 by my side. But wait, it's sooo light! And it's so easy to clean! So what, when you're in your 20s, light/heavy is important, but it's not as relevant as surviving. Stay in shape, carry what you can carry, and live. So I lugged the M-60 as much as I could. Very disappointed we're not going to something 7.62-ish.

More support for the Ag-man. American Petroleum Institute as well. Frequently updated statistics and reports. http://api-ec.api.org/frontpage.cfm 18.7% imports from the persian gulf. Imports are 65.5% of total domestic use. Means that 12.2% of domestic use comes from the gulf. Big 3? Saudi, Iraq, then Kuwait. 11, 12, close enough. Could we replace that 12% by opening ANWR, and working with (ie., [ahem] paying off) Canada to go after the oil sands and reserves in alberta and saksa... skatche... shoobedo... the province east of alberta? Once we can improve the technology to get it out, that is. Billions of barrels there. I was a kid in the late 70s but I remember the oil crisis. The gov't regulated MPG and asia was there to build better and smaller cars. That's where all these hondas and toyotas came from. They weren't around before that. You want blame? How about this? Seems the key here is that trucks were exempted from the same MPG controls as cars, and hence the SUV was born. What, you thought there was that much off-road demand in the US??? No, it's the loophole for how to get a bigger "car". Buy something classified as a truck. And yes, i'm a republican with a cherokee, so yes, for now i'm part of the 'demand' problem. If only we had stayed on the route of fuel efficiency. Go to Europe and there's nothing but small cars and trucks. Doesn't seem to slow down their commerce. We could be telling the middle east to drink their oil for all we care. -
Michael Moore lied - using faked newspaper front page
jimbarry replied to sundevil777's topic in Speakers Corner
To the group. Did MM change anybody's minds? From the looks of posts and threads on this forum, he didn't. He pushed Dems more further away from Bush (notice I didn't say 'towards Kerry') by feeding them what they wanted to hear. Lots of truths, but some lies, some clever omissions, some false connections.. He either pushed Reps closer to Bush or it seems in most cases he had no effect on them other than to hate him more for dividing the country more, or admire his ability to preach to his own choir by making them a stronger choir, 5 months before an election. So what was the net effect of his "lies"? Probably nothing, right? And can everyone at least agree (probably not) that while there was plenty of evidence that wmd still existed in Iraq, to ignore that mountain itself would have put Bush derelict of duty? And more importantly it wasn't up to Bush to proved SH had wmd, it was up to SH to prove he got rid of them? And he used all his power and bribes to avoid doing just that. To say that SH never proved he got rid of his wmd was not a lie. There was no false pretense in that. It's getting tiring to hear "Bush said there were wmd and turns out there wasn't, therefore he misled us into war." -
Duke's comment disrespectful to women? The whole "smokin" thing? Yeah, maybe. Probably better to ask a woman. But my opinion, I agree with you. However... your initial response didn't say that. It said: You seemed quicker to imply that Duke shouldn't make comments like that until he's got more jumps(?) I'll bet that wasn't what you meant, but it is what you said. Vote #2 for Bonfire.

1. Cold, headache... 2. I can't find a place to jump rounds in SoCal. Or in the US for that matter. 3. $4k and 4 months/weekends of landscaping on the new house left before I can aim any money at AFF. Which means December, which with santa ana's in SoCal means "often too windy for students to jump". So, back to re-reading the S.I.M. and Tom Buchanan's book again... (thanks Tom, great book for newbies)

They loans their money, they takes their chances. Sure, it's ultimately Tyson's responsibility, but we're not talking a car lease, student loans, or a $500 Visa bill here. A bunch of creditors accumulating a balance of a combined $38M to a thug-felon who only has one risky path for paying it back is, well, ...risky. But yes, happy to see him bloodied and on his ass? Sure, why not.

BAAMMM!! [shakes head] Waowaowao.... I was just in the S.C. and got kicked in the teeth so hard by liberal 'logic', it knocked me clear over here into the Bonfire. Last time that happened, I got knocked into the 'BASE Zone' forum and got too freaked out. Those people jump reeeeealy looowww.... [Dusting off, walking back to S.C.] See y'all later... -
Agreed. As an California Republican, I can join my 10+million brothers and sisters and vote for whomever I wish too (aka. tossing in my 'throw away' vote). The electoral college system protects small population states and rural areas nicely. It does nothing for 10 million righties on the left coast.

On the poll, Bonham. Off the poll, gotta be Stewart Copeland. more than a percussionist, the guy's a MusiciaN on the kit. innovative beats, perfect timekeeper... (and i'm not even a big fan of the police)

Tuna: bravo, agreed. I'd throw a right nut in there too. Except... USUALLY? Ouch no. Please no. PLENTY of soldiers are injured and killed doing exactly what they're supposed to do, exactly how they're supposed to do it. Sometimes? Of course. Usually? Not even close.

Been at my awesome job for 9 years now. Went back to school and turned my hobby into my job. Still my hobby. Half the days I'd do it for free (well, as long as I got paid double the other days). Before that was a series of M-F day jobs. Here's the test: Back then, the test for me was to figure out what time on sunday i'd start to get depressed. 6pm's probably close to normal, but when that would back off to 11am, that's when the resume edits are underway. And then when that bummed out feeling would start to creep back into saturday afternoon? That was the time to hook the static line and make a strong tight exit.

It was Saddam's obligation to prove he got rid of them. The war is Saddam's fault, no one else's. Like a cop car chase. Someone gets hurt by the criminal being chased, there's allllways plenty of people eager to blame the cops...

I know the guy's got a tough (volunteer) job and we all should appreciate that. But since I need to follow the rules (and in this case, his interpretation of them) I thought I should be allowed to ask for clarification and other's input. ed: I think both sides should be respectful, intelligent, and provide support. Not just the person responding to an inflammatory unsupported attack. I believe that supports the rules of this forum.
