Do you jump tandems?? if so its obviously ok in your country. Here in NZ you have to have 750 jumps to become a tandem master if you are AFF qualified and 1000 if you aren't. no no bryn I spent all the money on the camera (I sell them so I got it cheapish) so I have no cash for a helmet - straping it on is the only answer. as for the low jump numbers... it is the norm where I jump, the diploma course has people on camera after about 100 jumps most of the time. The requirement for jumping camera with a tandem in this country is 200 jumps. So go figure. Sorry about not reading the whole forum before asking my question - I am young, lazy and I expect people to do stuff for me. Is that ok? I've got one that I'd like to put on top of my head but it has some weird remote connection. Its kinda round and big with 3 little prongs in it (thats the best I can do). there are a couple of music videoes I've seen with skydiving in them. One of them is by Bentley Rythm Ace and it has people running around in what looks like tandem passenger harnesses and then getting out of a plane . cool tune though. yes if you get hurt in some places you are screwed. in my country we have something called ACC, Accident Compensation Csomething that pays you %80 of your wages or somethingl ike that until you are healed and able to work again. Cool aye!

francis isnt there at the moment, I have never jumped with him. pete corbitt is no longer the course director. you do do a large number of solos but that is being changed I think. the new course director is making many changes - trying to give us skills that are useful to commercial dzs, not just teaching us to turn points like in the past. yes u don't want to piss anyone off, I think this goes for skydiving in general - its a small world. as for the gear they sell you mine is fine and it wasn't sold to me by them as such. It was sold to me by a separate company owned and run by people that work there (a tandem master and a pilot). Its called rigmart.com go have a look there if you like. Sure they will charge a finders fee but they won't sell it to you if they think it is shite. I am currently doing this course. I agree with some of the stuff that has been said about it. In the past it was shocking, and it failed to deliver what it offered. Due to changes that have been made (most are too late to really help my intake) the course is goin to be far better in the future. That said it has taken far too long to get the problems ironed out. I seriously believe that in about six months this course will be awesome. I stand to gain nothing by saying anything good about this course and don't get me wrong I am super pissed about certain things. What I'm trying to say is that its goin in the right direction now (finally). If you want to know more about how I have formulated my opinions feel free to pm me. why the fuck do you skydive? same deal really - calculated risk that is acceptable to some is foolhardy to others. according to that article the last death during or immediately after the runing of the bulls was in 1995 so it would seem that it has a lower death count than our sport. the percieved risk is probably higher than the actual risk - just like skydiving (unless you jump with me) Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh. Thanks for that. I never thought I could learn about American politics AND skydiving on the same website! I don't think I can be "wrong" about Bush any more than you can be "right". We just feel differently about the decisions he has made and the actions he has taken. Of course I don't know much about Bush's decisions etc other than what I see on tv and read in the paper/on the net. Perhaps he has some redeeming features I don't know about. No kidding, I said as much myself.... Anyway I still see plenty of dubbya (how could you miss him really) and it is this that made me wonder if he could possibly stay president. I know that anyone I talk to in my own country (and I've asked a whole bunch of people) would never re-elect him based on the things he has done since he became president. I have asked a large number of people that were not in my age/social/gender/religious bracket so I reckon I have a reasonable (though still way shoddy) cross-section of the population I live in. I have also talked to a handful of Americans about him (they were thrilled to be quized on it for the 500th time since they got to my country) and only one of them supported Bush (nowhere near the 48% mark anyway). sorry for boring you all half to death with that, just trying to explain where Im coming from.

I am very new to this sport but I'm gonna chuck my view in here anyway. I can't wait to do an intentional cutaway. BUT it is a long way off. I am new to this sport and I know that I don't have the experience and skill to do it. Once I have 500+ jumps and I can do it on a rig with three parachutes I'll give it a try. Until then there is no way I'm pulling those emergency handles unless I need to. When my reserve needs repacking I'm going to put my rig on and pop the reserve on the ground to see what its like to actually pull the handles.

I am a student of the Diploma in Commercial Skydiving Course that takes place at this dropzone. However I have also done a tandem here (before I started the course) so I have had experience as a customer also. I thoroughly enjoyed my tandem and the quality of the photos that I got was excellent. The whole thing felt very professional. As a student on the diploma course I am enjoying myself immensely. The weather often puts a damper on proceedings but this is a small issue really. The course is constantly being refined and improved (its already pretty awesome). As a way of getting into the skydiving industry and a way of learning heaps and making yourself a safe skydiver this course is superb. I highly recommend it to anyone that is interested. I've said all I wanted to say, pm me if you want any other info.

I can't see how you could still be friends with either of them. I had a friend (not a best friend) screw the girl I was in a semi-casual relationship (long story) and I was fairly pissed off. But I didn't really care about her so I cut her loose immediately and told him he could have her. He realised she was obviously a bit of a tramp and told her not to contact him again. She lost bigtime. He and I still see each other occasionaly because of mutual friends but our friendship is nothing like it once was. The reason for this big rant is that in my experience things will never be the same with either of them. Best to cut your losses in my opinion. Good luck. thanks for posting that link skr I've printed out the spreadsheet and will take it in to my DZ. Hopefully I will be allowed to put it next to the door of our turbine. Often the loads are mostly inexperienced jumpers with less than 100 jumps so this will help us to determine how many seconds we need to count before exiting the plane. thanks again!!
