  1. Playgirl didn't get him kicked out of SDC. Grabbing a students package before exit did. It was all on video.
  2. Tdog that is what I was thinking the same people who can give the ratings review the ratings biannually. I know of some riggers who in the past had never packed a square. That would be found during the biannual and could be handled by the DPRE with additional instruction to keep all up to speed. We dont need a big program to administer this and add cost. While the DPRE will make some money off biannuals, this would be no real problem for the serious riggers and would also help to get information out to the rigging community. Even the people out of the mainstream would have to see a DPRE every couple of years and be be brought up to speed./
  3. I agree with Paul. The oral and practical tests are administered by a DPRE. The DPRE has a master riggers ticket. If there is a problem with riggers in the field fix the DPRE that lets them get there. Going further on fixing rigger problems though and following what the FAA already does with pilots, How about a biannual rigger review. Prove you are competent and up to date on any new policies and procedures every couple of years. Either you can perform or not. Weed out the bad ones.
  4. I had a tandem canopy with the same damage. Was not a hard opening or anything. Turns out Strong said it was sand in the seems. This had been a southern California canopy for most of its life. Also had damage on an old PD210 around the bridle attach due to sand in the seams. Being that canopy is with a paraconcepts logo probably not sandy as IL is very grassy.
  5. Bilvon, please explain what canopies will not fly with "free" brake lines. Also expain how this is so. Not saying its false just not understanding the hows and whys.
  6. The FAA expects you to abide by the terms of the USPA. They have set the minimum age as the age of legal majority (18 in most states). They then waivered a couple of southern state who have an age of legal majority of more than 18.
  7. No CofG issues with and tandem with their back to the rear bulkhead you say. I must assume your are using tiny TI's. A simple start is to look at the placard on the bagage door. On my C-182 It states no more than 120 pounds int htis compartment. I can't believe the 172 would carry more. In fact I know that the 172 would be over gross with 2 tandems and a pilot unless they were all very small. I agree you can hook up for takeoff but in my eyes it is terribly uncomfotable and definitely not needed. You wont be of any benifit being hooked up to get out for quite some time. All jumpers have restraint systems and should sit so that they are able to use them for taxi take off and landing (if nneeded). Also the way most STC's for restraints are in the US you couldn't legaly sit as you presctribed for the 182. Not saying your wrong but giving food for thought as to why I won't.
  8. Fremonts runways are huge and Dennis is a great pilot. If he says I think I have it then I would stay. He wouldn't steer you wrong. If he wasn't sure he could get back safe with Tony on board he would have told him to hurry up and get out. Tony was low and only half hooked up. If he didn't have to go he did the right thing why push it.
  9. We used to have tons of the stuff when I worked for Cameron Balloons. You could try them or any balloon repair station should have it.
  10. When I looked into it before you could get an Inland Marine policy. Here in MI it is available through Hastings Mutual. It will cover all your gear for anything except mysterious disappearance. I even asked about a lost main on a cutaway. They said it was covered if you talked with the police and had a report of what happened.
  11. When I was put on the sidelines for 10 months I had been jumping a VX104 at 2.45:1. When I got to come back I moved up to my stilleto 135. I had also lost 25 pounds. This canopy has served me well even though either my legs or my mind wont work right. I have only stood up about half a dozen landings this year out of 200. Even with sliding in landings i have gone back to my VX 104 for a few jumps every now and then. No way in hell I could ever run anything out but I know I can slide in smoothly. The only thing I worry about is the off landing into unknown territory.
  12. I asked the same question. My ortho told me that they have techniques to remove bent rods and its no big deal. I asked if he had ever had anyone break their leg after a rod was put in. He told me only two people and they broke the rod too so it was an easy fix. See what your Dr. says but mine is very low key and said dont worry about it.
  13. My rods are stainless. My orthopedic surgeon says that they will be left in, being either stainless or titanium. He says the reason is because they hurt nothing and He doesn't like doing what he feels is an unneccesary surgury. I had a friend have his removed he said it was not a big deal.
  14. Swoop gone wrong. 270 downwind, got in the corner slipped or missed on one of my rears. Split second hesitation was all it took from there. This is what a friend who watched told me. I have no real memory of that day due to the paralitics (sp) the flight crew gave me before transport.
  15. Working on x-rays, But compound both femurs, open book fracture of pelvis and broken hip socket. No insurance, but medicaid stepped up. Cost was just over $360,000.00. Partial breakdown is as follows. $19,600 for two lifenet helicopter rides. $16,000 for first Emergency room. $25,000 for orthopedic surgeon. (only 4 in my state can fix an open book fracture of the pelvis, he can charge what he wants.). $6,800 per day for 28 days in ICU. Plus the other involved surgeons, 10 days in rehab hospital, followup surgeries, buying a wheelchair, and on and on. Again thank God for medicaid. I am so lucky that I don't have to spend the rest of my life paying for this. Also that I have a rest of my life to spend.
  16. I must step in to defend someone I dont even know. The sig line has nothing to do with the war. It is a quote from what the Navy felt was one of the best recruiting things they ever recieved from Hollywood. Its from TOP GUN and its 20 years old. Who is the dipshit now.
  17. I beg to differ on the one year revocation of a pilots license with a DUI. I recieved a DUI after two prior impaireds. The legal dept. at the FAA suspended my pilots license for 90 days. In addition he basically let me choose the dates. I told him I would be in jail for 90 days so he started the revocation on the date I was to show up at jail. The medical side is harder though. I had my medical revoked until I could prove two years of sobriety. Pretty much just a letter from my mother and my boss.
  18. If the boyfriend is on disability why hasn't anyone turned him and the fact he is skydiving into social security or whoever is paying disability. Im sure if they knew he was skydiving disability would be gone in a heartbeat. Not that I think we should just screw someone, but it seems as if he is screwing us all.
