Just wondering. Why does it bother you? Why does it make them pussies? Seems to me that it is a rather bold move. Do you oppose those who omit "one nation under God" when reciting the pledge of allegiance? Do you consider these acts to be unpatriotic? Personally, i figure it is their college, they can do as they please. As for my question concerning the pledge. I am an atheist. I don't believe any nation is favored by a deity. Also, the original pledge, written by Francis Bellamy, did not contain the phrase. It is actually a pledge to embrace socialism. Nope, not comedy. Pat Robertson is always serious. That's what him so funny. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

According to Pat Robertson, God just very well might hate the monument. As Pat says... "Ladies and gentlemen I don’t want to get weird..." Someone should inform him that he is very, very weird. http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/robertson-suggests-crack-washington-monument-was-sign-god "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Let's see what the Bureau of Labor shows: http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0000000001?output_view=net_1mth If graph does not show what I am seeing enter years to view. I enter 1989-2011. It appears that Clinton took hold of a sinking ship and brought it to the surface. Under Bush, the ship sunk. Obama takes the helm and reversed the direction. If the trend continues, as it appears, Obama will be on par with Clinton. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

The incident occurred in Yellowstone. He would, most likely, be alive if he paid attention to the sign. http://www.examiner.com/luxury-travel-in-san-francisco/yellowstone-bear-attack-victim-how-it-unfolded From the article: Despite a posted bear warning sign at the trail head, the couple were not carrying pepper spray, weapons or wearing items like bells to deter animals that might approach them. Some reports have been made that the couple had already spotted the bear earlier and continued hiking. There also was a new closure for trails south of Wapiti Lake Trail and east of Yellowstone River due to a sow and cubs who were a known issue in the area (according to the Backcountry Office at Canyon). From the NPS Report: Bear attacks are extremely rare. No one was hurt by a bear in Yellowstone in 2010. This is the first time a human has been killed by a bear in the park since 1986. That is some good reading. I've screwed with near every scammer who has sent their BS to me. Some has gone as far as death threats after several weeks of screwing their time. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

I put an early Baker in a customers chopper a couple of years ago. She had the stock tranny on it. It was an 88TC A motor. Looked weird with the stock tranny as they are matted to the engine. had to do some alterations (and repaint) to the mount as it was set up for the stock unit. She also went with a Baker Fire-starter with a push button for a cleaner look. I liked the way it looked with the Baker. Shift really smooth and had that H-D feel and sound. Worked on a couple of Jims. One had a broken shifter shaft lever spring (same happened on my 91 Fatboy in 97.) The other was worn forks causing mis-shifts. The spring problem is just one of those things that just happens. The worn fork was most likely from speed shifting (not using the clutch, shifting on the redline.) I'm more impressed with the Baker for looks, feel, and overall durability. I do think the cost could be a bit lower. But their reputation is next to none. Just one fucking tough transmission. Jims is pretty much a Baker as Baker gave license to Jims some years ago to build a 6 speed (license did expire a while back and Jims is on their own now.) Baker was the first to build the 6. Both use Andrews gears. If I were to outright swap, I'd go with the Baker. Either way you go, you're looking at more than 3K for a Baker 6 speed and more than 2K for a Jims. Baker tends to have a better reputation. Plus they are 100% American made. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

It would be cheaper to just do a 5 to 6 conversion kit. Several aftermarket kits are available. Usually includes a spacer for between the case and side door, main and counter shafts, shift fork, fork shafts, bearings, gaskets, needed hardware, and, of course, the gears. I have consider doing that. Back in 95 the belt broke on the 91 Fatboy. Luckily, I was on Highway 270 in St. Louis. Wasn't too far from a phone. Pushed the bike as far as I could. Pre-cell phone days (at least the easy carry types we have today.) Changing the belt sucks as the swing arm needs to be removed and the primary disassembled. New belt and gasket kit is required. If you are not able to do the work yourself, as I am. It can be very costly. Minus labor, it is still not cheap. Doing it yourself and you're still looking at over $350.00 I just might swap to a chain. And I was not kidding when I said I fear a belt break. A gunfight is distinguished from a "fight" in that the likelihood of lethality is much higher than two kids rolling in the dirt. But there is hardly the need for distinction of violence and gun violence, esp when the latter encompasses anything that involves the presence, and not necessarily use, of a gun. It's also long been intentionally misused, just as the misuse of children in statistics that include adults. The term "gun violence" is a widely accepted term. The police use the term. Are you suggesting that they are wrong for doing so? The DoJ use the term. Are you suggesting that they are wrong for doing so? The FBI use the term. Are you suggesting that they are wrong, also? I fear that the secondary belt on my Fatboy breaking in the middle of nowhere and my cell phone being out of charge. Not like the good old days. Break the chain? Easy fix. Cut a piece of wire from a fence and away you go! This is the kinda shit that keeps me up at night. That, and syndication t.v. shows. Ohhhhh the humanity. Good fortune has smiled upon me (and I laughed at the prediction in yesterday's fortune cookie at the Bamboo Garden Chinese restaurant.) Just minutes ago, I received a very important email (in my Yahoo account) from a very trusting soul in war torn Iraq. He is requesting my assistance in removing $12M dollars (my tax dollars and yours) from Iraq and bringing it to America. He hopes that it will be safe in my care. He could be wrong. I have a whole list of much needed toys that fly and go bang. The email: Hello, I am Ali Ibrahim presently working in Iraq with an international organization that I will disclose later. I will like to share some very vital information that would bring some good financial returns to us in just a few weeks or days depending on how fast we pursue the matter. I am seeking your assistance to evacuate the sum of $12m to you, as far as I can be assured that it will be safe in your care until I complete my service here. This may not be the best medium to make this kind of contact because of the numerous scam offers transmitted through the Internet, but it is all I have access to for now. I will be very grateful if you can give me the opportunity to discuss this matter with you by assuring me that you will not use any part of it against me in anyway, I hope you understand my limitations here. Should you have reasons to reject this offer, please destroy this mail as any leakage will be too bad for us. I will continue with the details when you signify your intention to work with me. Respectfully, Ali Ibrahim. I'll fuck with this scammer for awhile, until I get bored. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

And we're telling you that this is a waste of time, is not a real attempt to do anything. And just admit it - you're spending a lot more effort here than a simple belief of "may." But if you're going to continue to argue it, how about coming up with some foundation, not a red herring about an Examiner (that's like the Inquirer) column on hockey injuries. There are a number of studies that suggest that toy guns lead to gun violence (just Google.) I tend to disagree. However, talking, today, with my nephew (he is a drug cop and does work with gang bangers around Kansas City) on this subject, I agree, as he does, that in certain neighborhoods, toy guns may very well be just one of the elements that can lead certain kids towards real gun violence. Ryan likes to push sports as an alternative. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

Then why do you keep mentioning 'gun violence' instead of 'violent criminals'? Why do they say "Gunfight"? It's not two or more "guns" fighting. Why do they say "Firefight" when guns are used? They're not fighting with fire nor are two flames fighting each other. I think you know exactly what is meant by the term "gun violence." Thanks for being you, The King of the Eloquent Prose. Always entertaining. No more than one line zingers. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

I love guns and grew up around guns. I have no problem with kids playing cops and robbers. I'm only trying to see it from the point of view of parents in an area immersed in gang culture and how guns are a major part of the culture. I agree, it is completely silly, on the teachers behalf. Back in 7th grade (1973) I was suspended for having a brush that had a handle that kind of looked like a steak knife handle. It was in my back pocket. The brush was a small Goody brush. My did had a shit fit over them suspending me. The one week suspension stood and nothing could change it. (Actually, I rather enjoyed the week off.) But yes, schools tend to go over board. Back in the 80s-early 90s, I rode in what could be considered an "outlaw" motorcycle club. Club house was in North St. Louis city (St. Louis Ave and Blair). Not a very good area. We dealt, quite a lot, with the Bloods. I'll let you consider what kind of stuff we dealt with. I wasn't shocked to see small kids dressed like gang bangers and running around "capping" each other. It was just the reality of the area, sad as that is. Not much real hope when that is what is learned at an early age. I think this is what the toy gun buy-back is trying to change. Playing "gang banger" and "capping" each other is not the same as cops and robbers, and is not healthy play, in my opinion. They would do well to implement programs like this as well. My nephew called earlier today. He is with the drug task force in the KC area. He is the K9 handler and his department drug abuse expert. We talked about this program in Newark. He often does classroom visits at the area schools. He interacts with gang members and future members. Mostly, he told me (and I already knew, as I am sure you know also) kids seek gangs for a sense of belonging. They also seek them for the "glory" as well as a means of income. He says that kids prone to joining gangs see guns as merely a tool to be used to get what you want. He agreed that the buy-back was good to change their perception and that starting at an early age is the only way to get the ball rolling. Ryan said he was sick and tired of seeing kids dead or injured from (real) gun play. Most of these kids are under 16 years old. My parents fought constantly. My dad liked to drink. However, my childhood wasn't bad. Motorcycles, we raced motocross, my dad drag raced, we had a front engine dragster, we had guns and hunted. Not to bad. Parents divorced in 79. My dad was a 21 year Navy man, Senior Chief. Despite all of his faults, he is a good guy and he tried his best to instil responsibility in us. Somewhere along the way, I took a different route, but got back on track later. Good parenting does not always mean that a kid while be a model citizen. Just as bad parenting does not always mean that a kid will be a criminal. It's impossible for an inanimate object to be anything other than an object. It is the context in which it is used that is either good or evil. Context, being the key word. I hope this clears up my stance, as I am not against guns. I'll being buying another one before long. I just hope that their effort in Newark is not in vain. But the results of such an undertaking cannot be known for some years down the road.
