  1. No. 2 should be replaced with "maintain altitude awareness". Altitude awareness should tell them when to break off/deploy when at a new dz, not a local jumper leaving the formation. Be concious of the exit altitude difference when jumping at a new dz. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  2. That will cost you a lot less than tunnel time and is what Instructors used to teach during AFF. It worked for me and others. No tunnel needed. I do think that the tunnel is a great learning tool but some things can be accomplished without it. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  3. Since BSA closed, the only time I really get to catch up with the old dz friends are at boogies. I saw the old BSA crowd, along with Jason and Erin at Dublin. We did a couple of jumps together on Sunday, hugged and departed, telling each other we'd see each other at the next boogie. With the Rodriguez Brothers Family Reunion coming up this weekend I thought about PapaChulo, how he loved the reunion and how good it would be to see him again. Chulo was always so glad to see his friends...so proud of the friendships and always looked foward to the next time we'd see each other. Jason lived it on his terms...that you can't help but to admire. You'll be missed brother....fly free. marquis So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  4. I think you are wrong in regards to the Infinity closing flap. It's construction is bulletproof and I have never seen or heard of anyone having problems with the main closing flap losing its hardness or closability. The way the closing flap is constructed, VSE does not need to invert their main closing flap. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  5. In a nutshell they just don't work. Blues. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  6. Damn, that's good stuff. Karma like that will likely get you healed much faster. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  7. Yeah he could have taken the demo...but he didn't. It was up to him to decide. It doesn't change the fact that aerodyne dropped the ball. In general I don't think it's a good idea for individuals to use dz.com to bash a company when they get mistreated, especially in an isolated but warranted case. Usually so many posters come to the aid of the company and bash the customer instead. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  8. I put about 400 jumps on a Saber2 150. I would say that about 95% of my openings were off heading with only a few slammers. People who tend to have smaller sizes of this canopoy seem not to have the problems with the opening characteristics as much. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  9. I tried to adopt a pet from the local animal shelter but was denied. Since I live more than 30min away from home and wouldn't be able to check on the pet during lunch break they told me to pack sand. I thought it was the most idiotic reasoning ever. Regardless of the local idiots, I do agree with the spay, neuter, and adoption. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  10. I do agree. The amount of labor will remain the same so prices shouldn't go up. But honestly I would pay more per repack for the convenience of not having to take it to a rigger as often. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  11. Now that makes sense and I agree with that. Besides, I wouldn't paying the extra cost for a repack for the convenience of not having to get it to the rigger as much. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  12. Why should prices increase? The repack should be based on the amount of work for each repack right. If the inspection and repack procedures remain to be consistent with current practices why should they be paid more? They are still performing the same service with the same amount of labor. I thought that's what the price was for....the labor. Maybe I'm wrong. But yes, I do understand that it's their livelyhood and I am sure that prices will increase...just playing devils advo. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  13. I think that there is a difference here. The question he posits is an absolute...a certain death from the sport. An increased risk or possibility is complete different than the absolute. I know that skydiving increases the chance of death, but it doesn't guarantee that I will die from it. I can deal with increase risk, not certain death, associate with the sport. If the mortality rate from skydiving activities was 100%, no I don't think I would be doing it. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  14. I remember a few years ago people would have problems with humidity and the cameye. Or it might just be the cameye itself that has a short in it. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  15. The pilot would be held more responsible for the act than you. Their feet would be to the fire, not yours. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.

  17. Here's two others that were huge in the SE Region: Buzz Sawyer and Tommy Rich. I remeber Tommy Rich getting his ass kicked at the Columbus Municipal Auditorium by Buzz Sawyer. The brawl spilled into the audience and everyone went wild. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.

  20. Just buy used. Don't fall into the fashion trap at the dropzone. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  21. I still don't think that this is a resonible way of looking at it. You have to factor in how much time those skydivers spend behind the wheel of a car opposed to how much time they spend in the air. The average person spends a lot more time behind the wheel getting to the dz than the amount of air time for that weekend. And we aren't even accounting for the rest of the weekly driving time. 22. What ever decision you make will be the right decision for you. Either way you go I think you'll be doing the right thing. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  23. I still have my A license. Have I done my water training...yes. Have I done 2 night jumps...yes. Have a met all the other criteria to get my D...yes. Am I knowledgeable when it comes to the SIM...yes. I believe that most skydivers continue to learn after they get off student status regardless of additional licenses. Just because that learning isn't documented...ie B, C, D license, doesn't mean that they are out there clueless and just jumping. For me personally, additional licenses mean nothing. Sure they are supposed to show a level of proficency but we all know that they don't gauge that very well. Think about the last time you were at the dz and on a dive with someone you didn't know. Did you ask them what license they held or did you ask them how many jumps they had? And I'm not saying that jump numbers equate to skill but it is still a better gauge than the license aquired. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  24. Great suits but I do think they are a bit overpriced, just like most high end suits out there. I think most people are buying them just for the cool factor. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
  25. Well if they were segregated, it wasn't enforced until Sunday morning. I saw plenty of hp approaches in the main(south) landing area. Those approaches ceased Sunday. Sunday morning was the first time that I heard anyone mention (on intercom or otherwise) that hp landings would be landing in the north sector and straight in approaches to the south. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been.
