  1. holy shit, what suit do you fly? And how high do you open? I am flying a MTR3 and reach at 2000ft [FAA says so you know ], canopy at about 1700.
  2. I agree that with the proper body position and picking up enough vertical speed to make any standard bridle/PC work. if you want to deploy in full flight... I have made myself a custom setup on my 7-cell with the bridle being 9ft from pin to PC and a 33 inch ZP PC with a plastic handle. make sure the handle is attached lengthwise and not just in the center. with a bridle that long and a PC so big getting your bridle wrapped around the handle is possible with ordinary hackeys. I get no hesitation at all with this setup and burn about 300ft from reaching to full canopy :). I have done some 40 second hop and pops from 3500 with this... get someone to video it from the plane and hear the people scream becuse they think you are about to go in, LOL...
  3. keep in mind that not all WS jumpers are chasing numbers all the time. in fact most people I have flown with so far are way more interested in flocking than anything else. and then don't forget that there are people out there already chasing the 4 minute mark from below 14,000 ft ... I have flown my GPS only a couple of times, never fly it on flocks though. If you are the competitive type chasing numbers do WS hop & pops.... those are so much fun... especially if you have somebody in the plane film your exit and you hear the other people scream "PULL... GOD DAMNIT PULL!!!!!!"
  4. damn right you should get your lazy bones down there... I have been wondering what is up with you.
  5. for those who have been wondering about the new Matter-3 wingsuit, I just got mine in a couple of weeks ago as a replacement of my MTR-2 that blew out on me more than once. The new suit looks very cool and there have been some major improvements done to it which imho greatly improve the reliability of this suit AND give it an even bigger range than before. it seems like the air intake on the leg wing is now larger and i think the stance of the leg wing is also wider [although I wouldn't bet money on that one]. the zippers have been moved to the side of the legs and they added neoprene knee patches that help distribute the stress better. with my old suit I couldn't do unstable maneuvers without blowing out the zippers. with my new one I have exptensively done dives into half barrel rolls and stuff like that and no problem at all so far. I have also done a successful WS rodeo last weekend, inspected the suit afterwards and it is fine
  6. I just bought an old AR-7 150 so my buddy and me can do some CReW. the brake settings on it were 9 inches short but where to put the brake setting... would love to get my hands on a line trim chart so I can check the canopy, eventually reline it. thanks
  7. I am about to make myself a second set of PC/bridle/dbag so I can fly my matter suit with the leg pouch. I found a 33" PC floating around in the loft and have a dbag. the bridle that came with the PC is waaay too short so I thought I'd make my own since the PC is non-collapsible. What's the optimal length for the bridle PC to dbag? my old bridle I have been flying with is 9 feet, I thought a foot longer can't hurt but is it possible to make the bridle too long? what would be the consequences? tension knots? wrapped PC? any advice?
  8. the reason I am asking is that I have been told to push/pull out is a bad thing. just wondering why.... I understand that using reasr on landings can be quite dangerous. I have been doing 90's for my last 200 ladings dialing in my sight picture and everything else. I am getting to the point where I get really decent speed out of them but using the toggles to keep my canopy from sinking kills so much forward drive. i have done at least 150 foot swoops or longer on my viper120 in about 12 knots of wind that way...
  9. I have been playing with my rears on landings lately. I was wondering what is bad about pulling the rears slightly out when pulling them down. any advice?
  10. Actually.... the kill line didn't get harmed as it seemed to have slid sideways out of harms way.
  11. Last weekend my buddy and me went down to Perris to do some night jumps. On the last day jump his PC wouldn't collapse after deployment and getting down to the ground he realized that the bridle had knotted up where the pud is attached. The very strange thing was that his pin had actually stabbed THROUGH both layers of the bridle. The container is an Infinity which was a very beefy bridle. Has anybody ever seen anything like this before? Was that a freak accident or ...? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. See attached pics!
  12. 10,000 feet are 1.89 miles assuming you pull at 3.5K. so covering 2.5 milesis a glide ration of about 1.3:1.... nice job there dude. haven't tried the PF tracking gear yet... just missed out on it in Eloy during the boogie.

    Pantz

yeah I have a pair of Pantz and I have gotten slightly over 1:1 glide ratio out of them, with top ground speeds exceeding 100MPH in a cross wind track. I found what works best for me is to use the wider stance approach, have your feet about shoulder width apart, your palms turned skywards and your elbows slightly bent, kinda like you are flying a really small wingsuit. palms up enables you to cup your shoulders more. now a lot of people say point your toes outwards and slightly de-arch at the hips, or stick your butt up a bit. I disagree on this one, de-arching kills your forward speed and in turn kills your lift. I find turning your toes inwards while still pointing them gives you somewhat of a pitch control and if you keep your body completely flat and find the right pitch angle you will haul ass. in my case that increases my glide ratio by about 20%. this data is all based on a foretrex 101.
  14. hi, I am on a mac.. I have had massive problems with not being able to post any ads recently. that problem seems to be fixed but 2 days ago I posted an ad for a canopy. the picture didn't get uploaded and all the information about model, DOM, serial number that is on the bottom of the ad didn't go through. please don't gauge your development on internet explorer because M$ is actively trying to make it incompatible with other platforms. I am using Mozilla firefox and have tried many other browsers BUT internet explorer. just a little feedback... Jojo
  15. gey guys, I just aquired a Viper 120 [very good deal :)]. not sure how good the line set is and also the guy said that it's trimmed very flat. now I was wondering who makes them and who to contact for line specs because I'll just build a lineset for it. at the same time I was wondering if they maybe issued a line mod that is not applied to that canopy yet that would increase the angle of incidence a bit. any ideas??
  16. I am flying a foretrex 101 and love it. it does have problems keeping the sats even if you are sitting near the front windows though, especially in the otter. the caravan is not so bad at all. make sure you have a good lock on the satellites BEFORE you board the aircraft. that way it reaquires it's lock faster after you exit. what's especially awesome about this unit is I have mine mounted on the back of my hand between my index finger and my thumb and you can easily see it in flight. set it to the speed screen, big numbers :-D... makes adjusting pitch/forward speed easier and you get a much better glide this way.... at least I do [solo dives]. long flights... [if the f'in weather ever gets better >:-/]
  17. Thanks Glen, that would be awesome ;-) talked to Cedric yesterday and finalized the deal. now the wait :-)
  18. hey guys... I just got back from the holiday boogie in eloy where I did my first BM jump. I went through the course with Ash and put 5 jumps on a classic. the next day Ash let me try out an S1 [didn't have a GTI in my size but said I could handle the S1]. wasn't all too stoked about the S1 so I found an S3 to try. holy shit... i think that was the most amazing jump I have ever had. I am sure that I am far from maxing out the suit but I did have a ton of fun. after I got back home I had to order a suit right away but what still bugs me is that I didn't get to try the matter suit. I have been tracking a lot and have been experimenting with the wider stance tracking technique that also implies a steeper pitch and I get some amazing results from it. anyways... my S3 came in today [stock suit, i know I couldn't wait ;)], but to my disappointment it doesn't fit me. so now I am back to square one and have to custom order a suit and brace myself for the long wait. what bugs me now is that I would really like to try a matter suit or at least get some advice from someone that has flown it. a lot of people on here have mentioned those monowing design suits to be floaty and having less forward speed. looking at it and comparing it to normal tracking it seems to me that if flown at the proper pitch angle it might give you even greater forward speed than the S3. is that true? would I be better off learning in an S3 and then moving to another type suit? Is the S3 the better all around suit? I know BM deems their S3 to be an expert suit but I didn't have any problems with it on my 8th BM jump. I am 5.8/150lbs... anybody out there with a similar physique that would be willing to let me try their suits? :-D I guess you can tell I am hooked, hehehe.
  19. thanks Han, I went out and tried it and hit sub-90mph vertical fall rate on the first try [that's more than a 10% improvement from what I usually get]. I could also feel the difference between just creating lift and actually maintaining the speed while getting the lift. I found it pretty hard to fly straight though... guess I have to work on the symmetry of my feet some more. anyway, very very cool.... thanks a bunch :)
  20. are there any pics of this? maybe a diagram would be cool. when your legs are that wide while tracking, do you point your toes inwards? when the palms are turned upwards, do you have to bend your arms slightly to bring your forearm paralell to your body? and of course, hehehe... is there a similar body position for back tracking? would be awesome to use it being a rabbit on a tracking dive ;).
  21. I had one coach jump up in Davis, the guy just put me there to let me feel it. really helped but it took me probably another 10-15 solos to really get stable. after that it took me probably another 10 jumps to get my sit to head transition down without over spinning [like a 270 weed wacker]. moving around i find much easier than driving in a sit. what really helped me was that on my solos, once I felt that i was stable i would spin 360 as fast as i could. that helped me with the control a lot plus if you see the horizon wobble you are not vertical.... try again, horizon stays level, you got it. relaxing helps a lot and playing around with different body positions and just feel... I am using that new found skill right now to help me drive back to the group when my exit goes bad and I find myself way off... loads of fun :D
  22. as a fairly new jumper [completed my AFF just 3 months ago] I must say the boogie was a blast. thank you again Bobby for jumpiing with me... and what I completely for got to tell you that day: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAN!!! see you all this weekend ;)
