  1. Thank you all for your suggestions. I had already placed the 2004 SIM on my list of books to pick up as it will help me glean background understanding so that I'll be somewhat familiar with the the information when I see it again in ground school and put it into practice on jumps. Tom, What part of Vermont are you from? My first jump (a tandem) was in Maine at Central Maine Skydiving and I liked the instructors, but its quite far from home and they do not offer AFF training, only static line. I live near Montpelier, so our local Vermont DZ is only an hour from home. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just bitten by the bug and eager to start training and earn a license...
  2. "Talk to the head packer or the head rigger about becoming a packer, you'll learn quite abit about the gear that way, and you'll make jump money." Great idea. :D I contacted the only DZ in Vermont to see about their willingness to take me on as student (I'm an anvilette :) ) and they were more than willing, so perhaps I'll take a trip up to watch, ask questions, and learn. I need to learn to pack anyhow sooner or later, and sooner sounds good. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just bitten by the bug and eager to start training and earn a license...
  3. While I save for the start of AFF training I could be doing some reading to start on the very important ground learning...any suggestions for good educational material? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just bitten by the bug and eager to start training and earn a license...
  4. I contacted Bevsuit and she suggested polycotton on the front, polycotton forearms, a loose fit and possibly some wing and swoop cords to add to the drag and help me float. Any other suggestions? I'm at the gym all the time, but I suspect I'll have to learn proper techniques to become a floaty damned anvil and compensate with a suit and large chute. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just bitten by the bug and eager to start training and earn a license...
  5. I can relate to the goofy grin. I did my first ever jump a week ago and STILL have a huge goofy-ass grin on my face. I'm saving for AFF training now, and looking into a jumpsuit that will fit me so I don't have to jump in scrub pants and have them blow up to my knees. *grin* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just bitten by the bug and eager to start training and earn a license...
  6. I guess I REALLY qualify as an anvil at 5'2" and 220lbs minus equipment. I'm brand new to the sport but seriously bitten by the bug and eager to earn my license via AFF training. My question is where to find a jumpsuit that'll fit me. I had to jump in my hospital scrubs and a sweater because they didn't have a suit with a large enough waist in it. Perhaps I should just sew my own suit? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just bitten by the bug and eager to start training and earn a license...
