  1. Cool Deal! I like jumping and working there. A great bunch of folks. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  2. Startskydiving is just a few miles north of Cinci and Xenia a few further. You could not go wrong at either DZ. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  3. Last time I spoke to the SGM that was the plan. They still need to get the OK so us newly (and longer) retirees can come out! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  4. I guess it is a late response, but no worries you should start a 2007 thread and see who is going this year! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  5. Flight concepts would let you demo a 200, maybe a 190. The Sentry model would be what your looking for. I echo the concern for experience and wing loading. Please talk the idea over with a reputable Instructor from your DZ not just some "cool guy". An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  6. Why yes it is! It has also helped bring in a few repeat customers. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  7. Lets not forget that if your a CURRENT individual member and rated, that USPA can hold you accountable for the BSR's as well, regardless of the DZ you jumped at. Some thing I was told and then confirmed with USPA's Head S&TA Jim Crouch. But I think it is not a bad thing. The refresher couldn't hurt. If your not an Examiner you may not have gone over the Video and required currency stuff on your own (not saying YOU, just the General T-I/M populace). It could also add a little more credibility to the T-I/M as being discussed in another thread. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  8. True, but the FAA only recognizes USPA in this as far as a License goes. And USPA is saying IF your a member, you will be rated by us ALSO for Tandem Instruction. Maybe one day the Ratings will all come from USPA, but I do not think Bill, Ted, et all are comfortable with that yet. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 9. It depends on my mood. But when a college crew is out as a rush event I try to learn the hand gesture for the house and "sign" it in freefall for the students video (in case they forget too) Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  10. That back slide comment kills me! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  11. Once was enough, its not that fun. But it did reaffirm my respect for those ole' Fellows who did it 2, 3 or more times into combat not to mention the oodles they did in training. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  12. How did it go? An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  13. Gary, Just to make sure, we are talking Mains only? I will answer along that line for now. For a HP parachute Slack as the type canopy recommends. For some student canopies slack to avoid a stall in a early and high flare. For Demonstrator type canopies (Flight Concepts Sharp Chuter, etc) taught to a slight pull down (1 to 2 inches max). This is only do to the way they are flown by the Demonstrators, in deep brakes most of the time to begin with. But a deep pull down, no not some thing I have seen. I have heard it was tried to avoid students from going to far back when off the radio, but it did not work out well and was dropped. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 14. You made it a half step up but it is still in the lower rungs My very well off folks just decided KaliFORNEEA is getting to "Out There" for them and headed east. There gonna sell the $1.1 mil house and buy the same size, with more land around it, in TN for 1/4 the cost. They lived on "The Peninsula" for 32 years so I say they earned the right to the opinion. I left 21 years ago and now only visit. It is a good way to remind me why I left. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  15. Nah he got it right, "gun" is the lower weapon. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  16. It is a plot! Get your instinctive will to win to the fore front, hurt you, drug you and then tortureyou with hot asian nurses, (your self admitted weekness). Well enjoy the "punishment!" Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  17. I aint given you a hug, but a beer when ya get back ok? I am an ole' School warrior, shoot till out of guns and bullets, stab till out of knives, then bite, claw and kick in the nuts (or ovaries I am equally dirty). If all that fails that SOB deserves the win (But I am dirty remember and did do some training although not as serious for the "Outside" as you). The weather and optempo should do well for weight control, or move up a class. You'll find as you get old like me some times it is easier just to give in and say "shit, I guess I need 34's now [OK 36, damn it]) Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 18. I got mine today and of course it is raining like Noah wished it wouldn't and my issue is damp, but not so bad that my Team mates have not missed texting me about the 2 cases I now owe for that issue. Oh well! Beer all around aye bud? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  19. I agree. Kip will; teach you how to teach, test you in your ability and ensure you earned your rating and will be safe in the Instructional Filed. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  20. Just tossing my 2 cents into the fray. Just do your best to get the Flag off the dirt quickly if it is a large drop flag. If it is a canopy flag it most likely will be easily caught by no more than 2 people. Just don't be the 2 who used to do the IRL Demo jumps and drag the Flag a hundred feet and leave to lay there while you high five each other. TRY to show due respect and make an effort till you get it picked up. I heard so many grumpy race fans and even the track promoters looked embarrassed. Just try to keep it off the ground and if you miss get it picked up quickly, the crowd understands as long as you try! Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 21. You forgot the water all around ya too! I still have a freebag headen to the gulf from Nashville. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  22. I don't know the cost of any of them to be honest. I was only compairing my perception on performance. The last Tandem Main I bought came with my rig. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  23. The SIGMA's are good. But for a while now I have been jumping a RAGE Tandem by Flight Concepts and think it may be as good as the HOP and Sigma even A2's. I think it comes in 340, 360, 385, 400 and maybe 425. All ZP and opens real smooth. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  24. Due north of you is Skydive Smokey Mountains. AFF, Tandem and IAF. You may even see me! Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  25. I have over 200 rides up front whats the big deal? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
