  1. Agreed. And when someone feels slighted by those steroyped, careless comments... it's easy to get riled up. But just understand that he probably wasn't directing an insult to you specifically.... (even though you fit in the "women with tattoos" demographic).... and getting all torqued about those comments is just hurting you (emotionally and even physically) more than him. But... your comments on how people should be more careful on how things are worded is very true.
  2. Easy.... you're getting your blood pressure all jacked up from a random comment on the internet (not that I haven't done the exact same thing) His comment didn't offend me because I know there is ABSOLUTE truth in what he said as it applies to me. If you had asked me 5 years ago if I would ever have had a tattoo, I would have probably denied it. The reason I got it was NOT planned out (so it technicallly was impulsive as it's memorial ink that I got the day after my friend died) and I DON'T worry about regretting it later. So he's right on those comments - does that translate to being an insult? No... he did say "reasonable chance" (remember some guys carry a condom in their wallet at all times "just in case".... "reasonable" might mean something different for them) He didn't state that "all women with tattoos are sluts." just implied that some might be. And he didn't even say "sluts," rather that she might tend to "do something impulsive" He can have that opinion.... he might be misunderstanding or misreading some people... but he might be on target with some. The ones he misreads, he'll figure that out in time. The ones he reads correctly... he's hopeful
  3. Actually, I think they were referring to the area above your lips. I do not have a mustache .... that's what IPL hair removal is for
  4. MY!!!! This thread has WAY drifted!! (and for the record... I'm not going to post pics of my hairy/shaved bits! Pictures of armpits... that's an interesting fetish )
  5. fixed it for ya Should the FL not be changed to USA is one giant trailer park? Just cuz we don't have old castles, doesn't mean that all our homes are mobile.
  6. Isn't that going to get this once again bounced back to the bonfire? This is SC. We should "discuss politics, guns, religion and any other topic you feel the need to address from your soap box."
  7. well... when she's on top, you don't have to stand. There's such a thing as overdisclosure here, Kay. Overdisclosure? Just a joke. Damn... I was hoping it was a challenge. But - back on topic - What is the topic here? Initially a whiny post about American women and America in general.... then the parallel discussions about American women and America in general... then not so deep comments about physical appearances of women.... right. back on topic.
  8. well... when she's on top, you don't have to stand. There's such a thing as overdisclosure here, Kay. Overdisclosure?
  9. well... when she's on top, you don't have to stand.
  10. Darn! Now you're telling us! And to think I picked my woman after a careful armpit hair count... That's why I'm smarter than you.
  11. I HATED calc I.... but it does get better.
  12. Really, what's worse: hairy armpits or fat chicks? A third option comes to mind. Which is???????????? A nice caring person that you can live the rest of your life with. Someone who makes you feel important and loved.... whether she (or he) has hairy armpits, is overweight, is a feminazi, or is even "ugly".... A PERSON is more what is in the mind, not the body.
  13. Yeah... you'd think with him being the resident, that he'd be too busy to postwhore on dz.com. But yet, I was the one slaving hard! What's up with that? (j/k.... I really do LOVE my job, and I can say that... I might be responsible for some of the stupid people out there.... ... but I also might have helped the next Einstein, Curie, Watson, Crick or Franklin....
  14. worked through it... (x + 1/2) (x - 2) (x - 3) (x^2 -2x + 1/2x -1) (x-3) (x^2 - 3/2x -1) (x-3) x^3 - 3/2x^2 - x - 3x^2 + 9/2x + 3 x^3 - 9/2 x^2 + 7/2 x + 3 Multiply by 12 4x^3 - 18x^2 + 14x + 12 I'm getting positive.
  15. I'm admitting for Peds and PICU. Just to give you an idea, we're on the 8th of the day wand with these cases, it's board review week in here. Well, hopefully this babe will just go to FTN and not NICU or needing to bug the peds types. Just a little slow....
  16. I can't be too entertaining.... I'm hanging out at the hospital waiting for babies.... Come on, baby!!
  17. I know... I've been trying to provide some entertainment, but keep getting periodically disctracted.
  18. *Sigh...... ok, we forgive you. (but Supergirl was still right)
  19. Part of me wants to delete this post cuz - You're right.... we are highjacking this thread with two discussions far more thoughtful than the initial comment that sent this over to SC.... But... since I spent all that energy typing this (and I'm a bit too stubborn to just let it slide), I'll post it anyway: I agree that there should be ONE standard for many professions (firefighting and police force being examples) and when they do water down the standards to allow a higher percentage of women, that's WRONG. You either meet the standards or you don't. She shouldn't be able to sue discrimination if she can't do the job... do some women sue, yes... But I don't agree with that and neither should the judge (should just be thrown out) There are a lot of cases that a reasonable judge should just dismiss, unfortunately the legal system is something that needs to be fixed too. (I'm working on trying to fix local medical system problems.... so I'll put that on the list for later) But if you want to be a hooter girl - who is really doing the discrimination there? MEN! Trust me, most women aren't demanding that hooters girls be female .... the men visiting that establishment want the cute faces and the big rack and the short shorts.... and if you could pull off that "requirement" - more power to you. [sweet little voice]And wipe the tears off your cheek[/end fake female cooing].... you know what shallow comments - we can start with per Websters: Lets look at defination 3B Main Entry: 1shal·low Pronunciation: 'sha-(")lO Function: adjective Etymology: Middle English schalowe; probably akin to Old English sceald shallow -- more at SKELETON 1 : having little depth 2 : having little extension inward or backward 3 a : penetrating only the easily or quickly perceived b : lacking in depth of knowledge, thought, or feeling 4 : displacing comparatively little air : WEAK
  20. I'm not expecting an apology for you having an opinion.... You are definately entitled to yours but yet you are insulted that I have mine. Seems a bit double standard. But by your comments on "Feminazi" attitudes, I fail to find that surprising. You posted scarcastic and inflammatory comments about how America isn't what it could be (you even anticipated an attack - thus the comment on the asbestos suit). Personally I agree. There are MANY areas that need to be fixed. But... (and I might be idealistic here) either you try to fix it or your part of the problem. If you say you want to move. Do. Life is too short to live where you aren't happy. Go to Europe if it would make you more comfortable or Jamacia or Australia. It's a wide world. But... if you wanna stay in America, then accept that if there are areas that you don't agree with that you should feel empowered to act on that. And for the record... I am prior service too.... (a woman *shocked gasp* in the military!)... I am "degreed".... (a woman *gasp* educated)... and I could probably even out shoot you. But, none of that is relavant to my initial comment of I don't think it's a "silly notion".... but again, I might be "idealistic" and "niave"... but sometimes it might only take one person standing up to say "That's Wrong"
  21. Who decides whether she's "overassert her control" or just wants to be viewed as an equal? Do you? What are your requirments for firefighters? (not "women firefighters" or "men firefighters"... but "firefighters") If she's athelitic and can compete by using the same criteria..... why exclude her because she's XX and not that weak and deficient little Y chm? I'm not saying let her in cuz the police stations looks better with a little feminine touch (pink curtains go so well with the donuts)... but if a PERSON qualifies for a job - whether male/female, European descent/Africian descent/ Asian descent, 25 or 65, four extremities or none - if they can meet the standard for the job, it's DISCRIMINATION to otherwise deny it. I don't consider myself a feminazi, but neither will I allow shallow comments to go unchallenged.
  22. How dare you accuse America of being uncivilized. blah blah blah blah blah..... If you don't like it - effect some change. Run for office, become involved in politics or at least VOTE! (or move) It's so much easier to sit back and be passive but still bitch and moan about the issues. Laziness, however, is not JUST an American pasttime (although we seemed to get blamed for it as if we invented it as a sport) The benefit here is that we have a system that IF you are TRULY motivated, you can do something to try to change it. Little respect here for those that just wanna whine.
  23. Whether by personal choice or enforced norms, American women shave their armpits. As a man I thank them. Let's not make hairy armpits the yardstick of a woman's femininity. Altho I find hairy armpits on women disgusting, some Feminazi (to borrow from Limbaugh) behavior is worse. OK... since you went there - define "Feminazi." Not just vague comments and generalities that refer to stereotyped insults... but really tell us what "Feminazi" behaviour repulses you.
  24. Barrington Irving Excellent role model and kick ass goal. I hope he makes it!!!
  25. Potential skydiving paradigms - Jumpmasters and students? DZO and fun-jumpers? (although in both of those the "oppressed" isn't really oppressed) Military paradigm - Drill Instructors/Training Instructors and recruits. Medical paradigm - Attending physicians and interns. Insurance companies and victims (patients and physicians both)
