I'm just wondering how everyone does it and what your reason is. I usually try to build the picture and then build off the centers, to me it just feels like it sets you up for a more solid formation. I can see the advantages of doing it other ways though depending on what you're building, like if you're building the top of a 1 getting the point and tail on first so the centers can key the next move as soon as they take grips. I've also heard of a few that seem to me like they'd be setting you up for some sloppy flying, ie. get on grips as fast as possible and help the next guy into his slot. I'm asking because I'm trying to put together an intermediate team for next years nats and I'd just like to know what's been working for everyone else and whether or not I could apply with my team. Look, it is really simple. Say you draw a 1 5 16 and you want to continue using a standard Airspeed continuity, but you are considering the double SS on mirrors. Normally, a standard/mirror/mem draw is a bitch, but you did draw sno-off as your standard. Now normally 1 is a clean block on plan, but if you spin the pieces the other way, taking advantage of the quicker build on cheats, then you can double mirror going into the memory by using the alternate 1 and jump into the 5 (or switch piece partners and spin the normal way) - thus unravelling the original single mirror with two mirrors. Now you have a single mem draw that you can eat with a single slot switcher - classic mem, or do the swing move going back to the snowflake - or even spin it the corrent way but with trading piece partners for the 1 - not normally a great idea, but 1 is a fast block that can handle some discontinuity to training as it's only a single vert and the centers are relatively passive in the center bit. I hope that clears things up. I just got my new Tony Suit a few weeks ago, I'm having to send it back because it's a little snug. I did put a few jumps on it to try out hte mega booties and they rock!!! You can access a military personnel locator if your active duty, I just looked up his name for you and got about ten results back. You don't happen to remember a middle name do you? And do you know exactly what his rank was, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, Sergeant First Class? And how long he had been in the Army? Is the RW course at your DZ geared towards 4way? Because if it is I'd recommend the Airspeed Camp first, I went to one of their tunnel camps myself and since that camp my learning curve for 4 way has increased greatly. The tunnel camp help me fly my body so well that when I'm doin 4 way now I don't even think about my individual flying, I can focus more on what's happening with the formation. i've had plenty of nut-unders, thanks to those incredibly well made military static line harnesses, with no padding on the leg straps. And you can't adjust the leg straps when you have combat equipment on, you spend the whole ride dreading the jump cuz you can feel your boys under the strap but can't do anything about it.
