Rosa I'm heart broken that you didn't back me up and vote that I look like the cologne guy History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

So last I was told by one of my girlfriend's friend's that I reminded her of David Hasselhof when we were all chillin in the hot tub the other night. My argument against that one is that I don't have all that nasty chest hair. And then this morning I was told by a little old lady that worked in a flower shop that I look like Vanilla Ice, and I think for the first time in my life I didn't have anything to say. So I'm looking to you my dear skydiving community to set my mind at ease, who do I look like? History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

I love the rigidity of the wing in turbulent air.. rock solid with no end cell closures.... Quote I've never had end cell closures on my pilot, and i've hit some insane turbulence before History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

I think the Eloy tunnel has spoiled me, so SVC should upgrade to a 14 footer that would be super History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

Dan, you might want to get a sign to hang around your neck This is just the beginning. Quote Oh i've already had my share of tunnel time, I'm beyond addicted and regularly attend a support group, I flew in the Bragg tunnel during MFF, did an Airspeed camp in Orlando and flew with a friend in Perris. Then tomorrow like Travis mentioned we'll be on our way to Eloy for 3 hours this week History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

Nervous as hell, as I am not good at memorization, and I have to start from scratch in a new slot... Quote Well we all know what happens when I exit in the IC slot so we really didn't have a choice on who took what position!!! Besides the OC is always the good looking one History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

Rehmwa said it perfect, that's exactly what I did, I jst sat down and watched the world class teams do em and would just call em off, I learned the names first and now go by the numbers and letters. Just get the video from a world cup or something and watch it til your brain melts History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

Exit Altitudes and World Records
GQ_jumper replied to ccowden's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
33,000ft MSL and above: You get into the zone of Positive Presure breathign systems Presure Suits (above 40K)... etc. IMO, sport jumps from this altitude are unlikely. Quote If I remember correctly the last time I was in the chamber we switched to positive pressure at around 26K. just throwin that out there History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. I was there about an hour ago, it looks like they're just putting the final touches on the exterior, from what I could see the interior had a ways to go though. We're less than a month away from me never ever ever ever having a penny to my name, ever again History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

The Pilot is an awesome beginnner canopy, its a 9-cell semi elliptical ZP canopy, has great openings, is really easy to pack(once you break it in), and very forgiving should you make a mistake. I'll also add this since no one else has yet, talk to your instructors about what you are looking for, they know your canopy skills and can best tell you what would work for you and what size. If you examine Airspeed Odyssy's performance at M Cup in Russia and USPA Nationals compared to the World Cup, it is easy to see the progress made with additional use of tunnel training. Quote I agree with you totally on that one, I just think that it's impressive the kind of performance the team was able to put out before the tunnel opened in Eloy History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. You know I have worked and worked with Dan, but the only way he responds is by ridiculeQuote Touching me inapropriately in the rigging loft doesn't count as working with me And that horse incident happened over spring break while I was really drunk, so it doesn't count. don't be jealous that I learn faster than you Grant, you're old, it's just the way things work when you get senile!! I believe I read an article where the very top teams are heavily loaded in the tunnel versus actual skydives. Quote One side note to that though is that before the Eloy tunnel airspeed was basically the least tunnel trained of the world class teams. In the pro pack...when its time to cacoon the packjob I grab all the seam tapes for the nose 'twist my wrist ' inwards to just turn the nose inlets inwards and then let it hang...and close up the packjob.... Quote I've always found the rolling the nose didn't do much of anything on my openings with the pilot, could just be the way i do it though. Personally my trick for really making the openings nice is when i roll the cacoon it and go to roll the tail i use two hands, one about halfway down the canopy and the other right at the top, where the lines dissapear into the packjob. i i give it 3-4 good twists at both places then with my lower hand pull the twists down so they are tight. my openings have been so smooth since i started doing this, almost to the point o being too slow when i'm opening sub terminal. Two new members have been picked up to fill the center positions this season, Doug Park, current 4 way world champ, and Mark Kirby, former 4 and 8 way world champ. Fastrax has always been a solid team with a lot of talent, but with the added experience these two bring to the table it looks like Fastrax stands a solid chance of getting on the podium at Nats net next year. As a side, I take it the elgibility issues that were there for Thomas are figured out?Quote Thomas Hughes will be eligible as of the beginning of 2006, the last time he competed with XL was in 2003, and after you move to another country under the FAI rules you are only ineligible for a period of three years. So he's good to go for the 2006 Wold Meet. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

I've put about 200 jumps on my pilot and had two slammers, one was because i didn't fully come out of my track, and the other i have no clue what caused it, but just after it started to snivel one side of the canopy slammed open and spun me around pretty quick. other than those two i love the openings on my pilot. Some people say if needed for self defense the 9mm doesn't have enough stopping power vs. the .45. Quote The major issue with the 9MM when using it in self-defense is that the rounds are so light and travel so fast that they don't cause very much hydrostatic shock when they hit a person. Basically they cut a clean hole straight through a guy without causing much damage, you can put a 9MM round straight through a guy's chest without knocking him down and he'll keep going. the alternative to this issue is to use hydra shock rounds if you can get your hands on them, they won't go straight through a person but at the same time still don't have the weight to put someone on their ass as hard as a .45. Good example, a couple of my buddies got ambushed in Tikrit and only had their pistols with them at the time, they said not a single enemy went down on the first shot, everyone took multiple shots to put down. As for the .45, I love em personally, yes they are a bit heavier but that shouldn't be much of an issue, it's only a pistol. someone in an earlier reply mentioned heavier recoil causing their shot group to be less accurate, this can be true but with the right training it can be fixed. I used to have trouble keeping my shot goup within a 3 inch circle on my 9MM, but recently I got some training from an experienced competition shooter and with what I learned about adjusting my grip on the weapon my double taps now hit the same hole. As for what pistol to buy, I'm a big fan of the HK USP .45. It's a big pistol, and I wouldn't recommend it for someone who has small hands, but they are made very well and are quite accurate.
