Hi Avery, I agree with you to some extend. It's chaos behind our back for sure, but thinking of what happens during deployment is that the slider should still be attached after line stretch and only comes down (or out of the rubber band) just after that (this is the reason for using a rubber band to hold it up there!). The slider comes down at the moment the canopy starts to inflate/spread, right? If then one side is more freely to spread than the other (there must be some kind of hesitation), eventhough it might be only small, this is yet another reason for the canopy to open offheading. It's like stowing your lines on a D-bag in a rubber band on 1 side and not, unevenly or in a rubber band from different size or strength on the other side, which could cause linetwists. Is that really far fetched? Joris. www.vandrunen.ch

Just a thought that crossed my mind while I was packing today... When packing slider-up and attaching the slider to the rubber band on the C-line attachment point I attach the slider on both sides (so 2 rubber bands!). I feel comfortable doing so, simply because this way I keep the symmetry. A thing so important in BASE packjobs... However I noticed that on most other gear that I've seen and packed there was only one single rubber band 'on 1 side only' present. What about the 'symmetry' in that case? What are the reasons for doing or not doing so? Your opinion(s) and/or advice is appreciated! thanks, Joris. www.vandrunen.ch

Hey there, I'm looking for 3 US jumpers that were in the valley in Switzerland last week. We've been jumping together on Sunday and Monday morning. Their names are Greg (Arizona), Matt (California) and Jimmy (Hawaii). If one of you guys read this please PM me, or if anybody has their contact details I would appreciate it if you could send it to me... thanks, Joris. www.vandrunen.ch

Maybe you've heard of the PD video called 'Break Away'! This video explains basically every mal possible in very understandable language and gives tips how to act when one occurs and how to prevent them. In this video a tension knot is explained in word and picture with both ground and air footage. Very informative! You could possibly find a copy on your local DZ. cheers, 892. www.vandrunen.ch

Hey guys, My girlfriend started BASE jumping recently and as she goes she learns about the do's and don'ts in our sport gradually. Recently she was doing a 4 sec 'slider up' jump with some experienced people who advised her to do so. I personally wouldn't do that. If 4 sec is the max. delay you can make I rather go for a 3 sec. slider down. In this particular case there was way more delay possible, so I would then go for a 5 sec. 'minimum' delay slider up myself. Anyway, I remember reading a post about this area of delay (4-5 sec. slider up/down) and remember seeing some pretty divided opinions about this subject. I found the posts in that thread quite interesting and I would like to have my girlfriend read it as well for her to see what our fellow jumpers have to say about this. Anybody remember this thread and knows where to find it? Thanks for any help. Joris. 892 www.vandrunen.ch

Media helps him for sure... He did this jump in daylight, while the coverage claims he has to do it all very sneaky... It´s impossible to jump this bridge in daylight (too much security). Most likely it´s all set-up for him, like the Patronas jump. That jump was also arranged for him (Patronas/Red Bull!!! see attached picture)

We jumped it twice now and well before Felix did! I KNOW this for a fact, because the roaddeck wasn´t completed yet when we jumped it and on this video it is! One of my old posts is about the same object! http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1097421;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;guest=5986788 We also jumped one of the cranes that was standing next to one of the pillars twice, already last winter. I know some guys who did the crane before us, but I don´t know of anybody who jumped the roaddeck before us. But there MUST BE some French guys out there that have done it before anybody else as it is in their backyard! I don´t care to be the first one or anything, but I don´t like it when somebody claims to be first while he isn´t! Felix...come in please....Felix...!

"Possibly the world's most perfect cliff suited for BASE jumping was recently discovered by Spanish-based Team Windchaser. Team members discovered the location in the Spanish Pyrenees mountains and don't want to disclose the exact location yet. The cliff has a perfect overhang, excellent accessibility and a big although somewhat round platform for exit. Attached is a photograph of team members doing a 2-way of the soon to be famous cliff." I personally don´t care what an object is, as long as it´s jumpable! Just happen to have been on some trips with people that want their BASE number so badly that they see A´s in B´s, B´s in E´s, S´s in A´s or whatever. Anyway, it gave us something to discuss about on the way back! Thought I get some more opinions about this subject for the next trip!

I did, what do I win? Here´s another one: We found a building (restaurant) on the edge of a cliff...(exit is from building). An E or a B?
-
Just wondering... A Span ´spans´ between 2 points, it connects point A with point B. But, what if you jump an object that is soon to be a Span, but not completed yet? We recently jumped this ´almost´ Span, but it was still missing a part of the road deck and therefore doesn´t really ´spans´ between 2 fixed points. Would you log this as a Span?
