Good point Jess! So many people do not realize that adopting a kitten or puppy is a 10-20 year commitment. You really need to think those decisions through. Our pets are completely dependent on us, and not just for the basics like food, water and shelter...... maura

My first rig was all brand new- custom colors, etc. It was a combination of poor judgement (probably), working lots of overtime, and having access to a low interest credit card with plenty of room! I really knew very little about gear when I bought it. I just wanted what I had been jumping already- Javelin container, Sabre main, PD reserve and a cypres. Can you say "easy mark?" But I loved it, and now even though I barely jump that rig, I can't seem to make myself sell it! The Wings container I jump now technically was not new when I bought it, but it may as well have been. The Wings people had it on display at a boogie, and it was love at first sight!

I agree, tampering with the rig is bad karma, no matter what the SOB did. There are better ways to get even......

That is one cute little kitty! -
I've been there- being drawn to the ex even though you know deep down its bad for you. My advice is stay away. The guy sounds like trouble. He stole from you! What makes you think he won't do it again? Be strong, girl!!!
-
Exactly!! It takes a special kind of asshole to want to show off a new rig to the person he literally stole it from!
-
Why not go over and "see" his new rig, then take it with you. Isn't this the guy that took your credit card and bought gear with it? You paid for it, right?? Hold it hostage to he pays up!

90 miles for me.

Brisco, Welcome to skydiving

Dumbledore is the headmaster at Hogwarts. The really old and powerful wizard who is always helping Harry out. He's a very important figure in all of the books. The one good wizard that Voldemort is truly afraid of. Perhaps more importantly, Richard Harris was a phenomenal actor of both the stage and screen. Really, one of the greats. He said he only did the Harry Potter movie because his granddaughter told him to.
-
That's very sad. I had heard he was ill, and that they had already lined up his replacement for the next film. I'm pretty sure its another actor (not famous) who has also worked as his double in the Harry Potter films. Peace, Richard Harris. The acting world has lost another great one....... maura

Skydive Chicago has a liquor license and sells beer in the deli. But no drinking and jumping, and that is pretty clearly posted. If a tandem student wants a beer after his jump, no problem. If you stop jumping early and want a beer, no problem, but if you are seen drinking in the public areas, DO NOT expect to be able to manifest. At our old location, the policy was keep it away from the hangar til the last load was down. I did not know that as a newbie and boy did I get a dirty look from the DZO! Once was enough to teach me that lesson! maura

How about dumping him at 10K on a nice "chili" day?? Bet he'd be wishing for a little more body fat after a 5 minute canopy ride when its 40 degrees on the ground! BRRRRRRRR!

Well Michele, I'm not a black belt, but I'm sure I'll have help from more than one SDC skychic! eeneR has already volunteered! Really "pleasingly plump"??? Who WOULDN'T want to kick him after that??? Quantity may just have to take the place of quality in this instance..... maura
-
That's me laughing right now.......
-
***Perhaps you are what my GF calls "pleasingly plump". Geez, John! Good thing you already have a girlfriend. There aren't too many women out there who would respond favorably to that description! I may have to kick you for Michele next time I see you! maura

Hey, Michele, I'm with Dove on this one. Didn't see the espn thing, but your picture HAS been posted on this site more than once. You are NOT fat. Lots of us obsess about our weight and try and compare ourselves to models and movie stars. But, that's not who most of us are. But, I'll also agree with you in that SOME of the posts on this thread have gone off topic and are kind of nasty. Is a fat person eating a cheeseburger somehow unworthy of basic human compassion?? The fat jokes and comments come pretty easily, and I know I've been guilty more than once. Since I turned 40 last May, I am way more sensitve to being called "old" than "fat"! But that's just me........ maura
-
Hey Michele, Sorry you are hurting. Hang in there! I know you are going through a lot, but you will get through it. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for. Hugs from Chicago...... maura

I think I see my friend Kim in the corner of one of those shots! Hope you get sunny blue skie tomorrow! maura

How about saying "smells like jump run" after someone farts?? Unless you are with jumpers, they just don't get it!
-
One theory among the "older" jumpers at my dz is that the temperature should be higher than your age! I am nowhere near as diehard as I was when I first started. I am a now cold weather wimp. I don't like wearing gloves thinker than my winter neumans and if my hands hurt when I land then I am done! maura

Hey Dove, It will get better! Honest! Hang in there! maura

Thank you for the reminder, SP. It is too easy to forget that there were real people involved in that accident and one of them is no longer with us. maura -
Who is the bigger idiot? The thief or the cashier arguing with a guy holding a shotgun?
