Hey, once again I wanted to thank people for posting to the spyware thread and making suggestions! With so many reccommendations, I ran Spysweeper the other night, had to do it twice to catch a few stragglers, and since it took so long for everything, I waited until I got home last night to boot up my 'puter and give it a test run! Still takes a while to get started and online, but I could "surf", send emails and open up my programs! No pop ups! Yippee!

Exactly!

Gee, WE do! Your post whoring on dropzone.com!

Fingernails I can deal with, its no more inappropriate than women putting on nail polish- which I might do in an office, but not an open cubicle. Now if you told me those guys took off their shoes and socks, put their feet on their desks and started clipping away? ewwwww!

I need to upgrade my memory just to make room for all my anti-virus, anti-spyware crap! Its just plain evil!
-
See, I can't help but wonder if I don't have something that's reloading itself every time I boot up! Great! Except I've tried leaving the computer on too, and that doesn't help either!

We really need a "hurl" icon for stuff like this!

aaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwww! Too freakin' cute!

Thanksgving decorations? Who does that?? (OK, when I was a kid in school we made these turkey centerpieces with a pine cones and orange feathers, but........)

One of my nephews actually likes Bush- we still love him even if he is the black sheep of the family! He's got a few years before he can vote, so there's a little hope!

There will be people there in evening gowns and tuxes, but there will also be people there in jeans, and everything in between! You don't need to worry about being over or underdressed whatever you decide. The black one sounds really nice!

Any time AFTER Thanksgiving is acceptable!

He He He I just changed the ringer on my cell phone to Jingle Bells! Its officially the holiday season- deal with it!

I was actually surprised that a big name insurance company was sooooo much less expensive than Geico. And now I even have an agent I can call and talk to! A real person, not just a rep at the other end of an 800 number. (But to be fair, I never had a problem with the service I got from Geico.)

I'm bumping this up to say thanks for all the helpful suggestions in here! I ran Spysweeper TWICE last night, and sure enough it found and removed things SpyBot and Norton did not. But it took over an hour each time, so I'll have to "road test" my 'puter tonight and see if there's a significant improvement! (If not, I'll have to take more extreme measures!- Maybe HiJack This??) I truly do appreciate all the offers for help and great suggestions! You guys made me feel like part of the family yesterday!

I imagine your dad is pretty horrified to have a republican for a daughter! Oh the horror!

I had Geico for a long time and I assumed they were the cheapest. I paid a lot of money for full coverage on a new car in the city not kept in a garage. I figured that was the best I could get because when I first moved into the city, it was! Soooo, when I bought my house in a suburb with a garage, I called them looking for a quote for homeowners and an updated quote for the car insurance figuring my premium would be cut in half! WRONG! They told me it would be about the same, leaving the city didn't matter and having a garage didn't matter either! They said the only way for my premium to go down was to get married! Hello? They were charging me more because I'm single? (with good credit and a perfect driving record and only one claim from years back when my parked car was the victim of a hit and run) Someone HAS to explain that to me! The homeowners quote they gave me was outrageous too, and I ended up with Allstate for both at less than half what Geico quoted me. Who knew? Way back when I moved into the city, Geico was the only company I could afford! So, the lesson for the day is, Shop Around! I really didn't have too many complaints with Geico up until then!

Well, I'm going to try and "decrap it" and look into a memory upgrade. Both should help! It wasn't an expensive computer (emachines from Costco) but its all I've got and all I can afford for a while! I sure am learning a lot though, just because I have no choice and I don't want some machine to get the better of me! Getting rid of the porn was a major victory for me! Thanks for giving me hope!

My job is mostly a desk job, and my co-workers were pretty good about helping out too. Worked out OK for me- my immediate superviser lightened my load and my boss was impressed that I actually returned to work so soon. Work ethic? Actually, I would have been bored out of my skull at home, but I'll take credit for having a good "work ethic" instead!
-
Well, I would agree that its a bit of a resource hog! And my computer goes through some extra time consuming steps when I turn it on now. But, after being hit so badly by some spyware programs, I realized I was a bit lax as far as my computer was concerned and I needed to take some steps to protect it. I should have posted here asking for advice first! My bad! (And the kicker is, its still running like crap!)

Honestly, just try to watch what you eat and don't eat just because you are bored! Easier said than done, I know! I actually lost a few pounds last year after my broken ankle even over the holidays. I tried to stick to a low carb diet as much as possible(works for me, no lectures, please!
-
Well, I'm not at home and I'm not a very good "geek". Someone else said not to use that program unless you knew what you were doing? But I'm willing to try it tonight. Thanks!
-
Yes, I'm updating. I just think there's something lurking-sounds so sinister, I know! Seems like I'm spending more time on my computer scanning, updating and repairing than I am surfing the net or playing games!
-
OK, I bite. I know I shouldn't even ask but....... What's so bad about Norton?
-
I'll try Spysweeper tonight and if it works, I'll buy it. I know this can't just be a memory problem and my computer is driving me nuts right now!
