  1. I'd go with Black and White. That way there would ONLY be one image of the event - and that would make it more valuable. t It's the year of the Pig.
  2. I'm not sure if I remember you either.
  3. Read the incident reports. The overall standard of canopy flight is making every effort to go through the ground! t It's the year of the Pig.
  4. Hi Nic, You have a lot of Skydives. I've not jumped a Sabre 2 or a Safire 2 and so am not qualified to even have an opinion. Both will be higher performance than your Spectre though, while not as radical as a Crossfire. Best bet is demo plenty gear and discuss with your peers at the DZ. t It's the year of the Pig.
  5. No Apology nessesary. I really do learn from everyone. Some what to do - some what not to do. Truth is we will see many more landings than we will ever do - and life is too short and too painful to learn only from our own mistakes. Incidently, elipticals do not go faster. They turn faster, and generally lose more altitude as the result of a turn. Crossbraced canopies, (IMO) while being eliptical, have had several more traditional eliptical charecteristics engeneered out. (Oversteer, faster turns) This allows slower turn rates, meaning more time to build speed for the swoop. As I said, an opinion. I have little experience jumping crossbraced canopies and certainly would not lable them as simply "eliptical." Some advice. Get off your Cessna DZ and get to a DZ where others swoop - and get some coaching. Living in Africa has shown me the dangers of living "in a bubble" too many times. t It's the year of the Pig.
  6. For beer, I'll keep the advice coming. Later, we'll talk about you using it! t It's the year of the Pig.
  7. Dig the GTi Birdbiscut dude! The suit looks nice! Don't wear it out before you get a chance to "visit your inlaws" again, OK? t It's the year of the Pig.
  8. No flak from me! Happy Birthday PEEJ! t It's the year of the Pig.
  9. Please don't feed the trolls, Gentlemen, Ladies. t It's the year of the Pig.
  10. He's new. Only 9 posts. I looked at his profile and took it to mean 63 dedicated swoop dives - not after AFF or camera or some such, but high hop and pops. I have 1000's of swoops - but he still gave me advice. I like to learn. t It's the year of the Pig.
  11. What! No "Good morning Vietnam" or Pulp Fiction or Lock, Stock.... or Snatch? I'm mortified! t It's the year of the Pig.
  12. That's kinda funny. Explanation obviously needed. When cyclists start a sprint, they always start on one leg. If you're planing a break-away, you'll always start your sprint when they're on their "off" leg. In a sport where 1 second can win you the race over 1000's of miles - stuff like that ads up. t It's the year of the Pig.
  13. I have 3 canopies. A Stiletto 107, A Safire 119 (Really about a 109?) and a Safire 135. I love the Stiletto for AFF when I'm doing lots and lots of dives. Nice snively openings, being able to hang up there on deep brakes till everyone but my student is down, great little swoops without much effort at all. I see lots of people on elipticals and see them cutting away, and cutting away, and hooking it in. I don't think the performance advantage of an eliptical outweighs the increased risk unless you're using it as a progression tool to a crossbrace. My Safires, which I bought as conservative canopies to jump with my wingsuits, have really surprised me with their swoopability. I'm getting longer, slower carves from them and with their fuller brake range, can do some really interesting things I'd struggle to do on the Stiletto. I think Elipticals are great, but I think too many skydivers are the victims of marketing. As others in this thread have said, flying any canopy to the best of it's chosen design is a challenge, whether that be a tiny crossbrace, a not so tiny eliptical, a bigger square or a 7 cell BASE or CRW canopy. Enjoy each jump. They're all part of the learning curve, or at least they are to me. t It's the year of the Pig.
  14. I'm mainly right handed, in that I write with my right hand. Long guns I shoot left handed, hand guns I'm truely ambi and can't really tell a difference. I kick a ball left footed, surf/skate goofyfoot. Archery right handed. Cricket (that's baseball to you..) left handed. Cycling, left handed. t It's the year of the Pig.
  15. Fuck people! It was a JOKE! Does everything in SK HAVE to be so serious? t It's the year of the Pig.
  16. Hey Chuck. I'm not really in favour of this war, but even as a conscript in a war I never beleived in - I agree with you 100%. If you're going to fight - then fight with all you have. There really is no alternative. t It's the year of the Pig.
  17. This is what I do. Leg wing is done before boarding as there's no room in our Porter. Arm wings are zipped over Bicep. Since wingsuits go last, we'd be last out on an emergency exit. My plan is cut the wings away and leave the handles in the plane, then exit and use main or reserve depending on exit altitude. t It's the year of the Pig.
  18. Done! t It's the year of the Pig.
  19. As has the US. Nuclear weapons - no less. The US often refers to Japan's Pre-emptive strike on Pearl Harbour as the "Day of infamy." What kind of spin do you put on your pre-emptive war/occupation against a civilian populace with no armed forces? t It's the year of the Pig.
  20. Does that include the 11000 plus civilians killed? t It's the year of the Pig.
  21. [joke] A. The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000 B. Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000 C. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171 per year Now consider this: A. The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. B. The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) is 1,500. C. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188 per year Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners. Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do!" FACT: Not everyone has a gun, but almost everyone has at least one doctor. Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand. NOTE: Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.[/joke] It's the year of the Pig.
  22. Hi There, I jump both Safire's (135 and 119) and a Pilot (132) when doing Birdman jumps and as an occasional back to back rig for AFF. I'm getting amazing performance out of all of them, as well as very predictable openings. I have not yet jumped the Safire 2, but if it's an improvement on the Safire, I would put it ahead of the Pilot. t It's the year of the Pig.

  24. Most in a day? 13 Average per weekend day? 2 Most per year? 505 Average per year? 224 t It's the year of the Pig.
  25. Not OK. I can't understand what the hurry is. Skydiving - probably more than ANY other sport - can be done for a lifetime. Whether it's a faster canopy, BASE, Wingsuit - whatever - WHAT'S THE RUSH? t It's the year of the Pig.
