I couldn't agree with you more......its a concern for most everyone over here as well.With a very closely intertwined global economy,what our govt does good or bad does have pretty far reaching effects on everybody else.And yes there is quite a bit of ugliness in some parts of the world that at some point should be cleaned up by concerned parties.And I do apologise for the inconveniences brought about by the "patriot act"but after some of the treatment I have endured at Gatwick.......and yes,it is good to have this forum for intelligent ( or not so intelligent) discourse Marc SCR 6046 SCS 3004

It is always a tough and thankless job being the Worlds "policeman".It is interesting to note after watching this discussion go on, how quick some parties are to point out US foreign policy failures......when all countries at some point or another make similar blunders.....Hey England.....how about getting out of N Ireland ? Hey Russia,what about the Baltic Republics the first time they expressed an interest in independence, or your involvement in Afghanistan?Hey S Africa, how about Namibia or Rhodesia (Zimbabwe)?Hey France, what about Algeria?Hey Japan, what about Manchuria?So before you look down your nose at US foreign policy,consider some of these shining examples......Now about what is going on in Iraq,there is a large segment of the american people that support freeing a downtrodden people from a despot (gee...deja vu.....freeing europe from a despot during WW2 at he cost of american lives) so they can live their lives in freedom!Unfortunately Islamic extremists would like to destroy every vestige of western civilzation,turn back the clock 6 or seven centuries.They do not want accomodation,they do not want appeasement,they want to destroy infidel civilization and everything associated with it.They will employ every means at their disposal to accomplish this including nukes, chem bio,homicide bombers etc.Anybody that thinks otherwise,is in denial.Anyone that thinks that by leaving them alone that the problem will go away(like Bill Clinton and his cronies attempted to do)is tragically underestimating them.If the all civilized nations of the world do not make a united effort against these Islamic extremist that have vowed to destroy them,then they will lose.I for one am proud that the US is making a stand against them,and it wont be easy and lives will be lost,but consider the alternative and I think most of you will see the merit in taking these guys on,even if alot of dissenters havent figured it out yet ( or havent a clue for that matter!)
